I have been quite inactive in SC for the past weeks. One of the reasons being the language barrier between Western and the Eastern members.

Although Eastern people know how to converse in English, I can't deny the fact that we (being an Asian myself) do not speak it the way the Westerns do (except for cases of Asians born and raised in the West). We will never fully understand nor be fully understood by the Western people. I am not saying that we should forever be grouped apart, but mixing the two groups would be like trying to mix water with oil. We have to admit that people evolve with their language. And since English isn't our native tongue, we don't evolve with it. I openly admit that I don't get the humor of most of the members here. I just don't want to go on pretending that I do. And I am pretty sure that they don't get mine either.

I hope I didn't offend anybody. It's just that I feel bad seeing members who fight because of misunderstandings. I hope this serves as a lesson to all that not everybody speaks the same language, so let's all be careful with our words. There would always be a way of expressing our thoughts gently.

hey don't worry shortcake...that's what happens when you speak different languages...you make adjustments for the different ways of expressing yourself and carry on.

Instead of water and oil....think of it as oil and vinegar... they are different and don't mix easily but go good together....

    Hey thanks to you all!

RollingC, I like oil and vinegar (olive and balsamic). Nice combo!

Today is T day at work....
If you know how to multi task....
I am drowning my sorrows in a bowl full of kid's cereal - Cookie Crisp, dinner of champions. I could have easily made a case for eating cookies for dinner, but at least this way I can pretend to have eaten real food.

What I'd like to know is...
in the flesh...
Happy Thanksgiving....
