Arlen Specter has been a pain in the Republican parties ass for years.....now in a true to form fashion, Specter has delivered a slap in the face to the party by switching affiliation to the Democrat Party.......a move to avoid elimination in the upcoming republican primary.

    now this is a shock?

he's a perfect model for today's politiican-  out for himself and screw his constituants.  public servant?  LOL, yeah right.

he should be the poster boy for why we need term limits.

d6-  Its called a survival tactic. What I don't understand is wanting another six years anyway. What is he, eighty years old? Don't politicians ever just want to sit by the lake with their dog?
  • secretlife said on Apr 29, 2009....
beyond:  29 years is how many he's been around.  i think the salary is 200K or so- not including the benefits, perks, etc.etc etc.

    29 years!!!
    that's just crazy.
oh and he's only the 12th most senior member of the senate!

    He's 79.

secret- It still doesn't make sense. Won't senate power get old in three or four decades? Evidently politicians don't care for lakes and dogs. Their pensions are huge and bennies for life - and they are eighty plus for Christ's sake!

Wow. I thought he was all ready a Democrat. So now he is an honest man.
He is probably washed up either way. Now the Republicans can run someone
who is actually conservative. Wonder when McCain will switch to his true party.
I agree with Rush. Republicans are losing because they are not conservative
enough. What Spincter said is bull crap. The Republicanparty is getting more
liberal, just as the Democrat party is getting more socialistic and liberal. That
is the real problem. Republicans are elected when they take conservative
positions (like pro-life, anti homo marriage, stop illegal immigration, etc.), but
then they do not do those things. George Dubya Bush is a perfect example.
He handled the war well, and kept America safe from terrorist attack for many
years, but he caved on everything else, except maybe appointing some good
Supreme Court Judges. I just made myself sick thinking about the Supreme
Court Judges these morons are going to put in place over the next four years.
Things are not stupid enough. The Supreme Court will join in the stupidity.
Thanks Dubya. God help us all. This country is about to go straight to hell
    without a handbasket.

I guess pretty soon we'll be "Dancin' with the Sheiks!"

My only question is why didn't he take John McCain with him?
  • D6fer said on May 01, 2009....
I wish he had.....I can't believe that there are a handful of Republicans that are making some big comeback tour.....going to do some town halls....that sort of thing.....and guess who's headlining that act?....that's right....John McCain!......Why can't that loser just go away?.....we are going to end up with another middle of the road loser like him next election, and then 4 more years of the teleprompter President!
  • javadewd said on May 01, 2009....
Oh, please. After the smear his people did on Palin, I wouldn't piss in his ass if his guts were on fire. If anybody can destroy what's left of the Republican party, it is certainly McCain. I heard they were going to try to get the Mormon to run again, but I don't see that swinging the Christian vote. I think we need strong senators now. We may have to cherry-pick them from the states, not the federal legislators.

    Wait! Wait!

"I wouldn't piss in his ass if his guts were on fire."

WTF???  Freud would have a field-day with that one. :>

No, I didn't say that I'd piss in his mother's ass... Wait... That actually sounds more impressive! Thanks, SMB!!
