just one little change was required to make me love ubuntu dapper again.
it was this little thing : sudo ifconfig ra0 mtu 1450
(where Ra0 is your network card wich connects to the internet, can also be eth0 or something else)

Try it if u have slow loading times with websites all the time in ubuntu.
it doesn't even require a reboot to do it's little magic.
