I agree with the lofty goals that he has been preaching all of my adult life, but he has always based his vision of the future on massive social engineering that just have no chance of happening at all.
People are greedy. CEO's only care about the short term bonus and a healthy retirement package. The only way any of them will change is if they think they can make a load of cash by doing it.
The world is not getting better because the world can not get any better. The roman empire lasted for nearly a thousand years not because a republic is inherantly better that the anarchy that reigned outside the walls, it lasted that long because everyone along the food chain from the slave to the senator made some cash.
Short term self interest is the driver of civilizations. Lofty speechs and Patriotism are just advertising devices.
