Baggy clothes are not flattering on anyone!

I know a lot of large women that seem to have been told somewhere along the fashion grape vine, that if they wear clothes ten times too big for them, people will think there is a skinny girl beneath the massive amount of unecessary fabric.

That is a lie.

I have this battle with my mom constantly.  She insists on buying shirts that are 3 and 4 X when shes only a 2 x.  She thinks it "conceals" and "hides" belly/muffin top/arm fat....

It does not...

When an already large woman puts on clothing that gives a "tent" effect, all it does is enhance the largeness.

Sure, you might not be able to see the third roll of back fat, however, by "hiding" that under loose clothes all your doing is making yourself look massive.

Large women need to enhance their positives and not worry too much about the negatives.

Fitted clothing is a must for large women, by fitted i do not mean tight.  I mean it should FIT.

The fabric should not be stretching, or pulling anywhere but it should perfectly hug the skin.

When large women through on big blahzay plain no shape t-shirts, they lose any shape they have.  They transform themselves from a sexy curvy woman into a great big blob.

Blobs arnt nice looking.

In my experience i find what is most flattering for almost anywoman, particularly plus size women.

Baby doll tops.

Something loose in the middle and puts the boobies on display.

Babydolls usually have an elastic underneath the breast area and they usually fray out to be looser around the middle.  Cap sleeves and quearter sleeves are most flattering.

And if your fight a little back chub like me, a tank top underneath and a bra that actually fits corrects, usually kills the back fat, or atleast controls it.

Its very important for shirts to be long enough..
I have problems with this.  I dont have the flattest belly and i have nightmares of camel toe and muffin tops being seen by the world...

Longer shirts allow me to cover up my middle and not worry about anything "peeking out" beneathe my shirt.

Anyways ladies!  Stop drowning yourselves in clothes that are far too large for your body!  It does NOT make you look thinner!

Oh, and as always im a big fan of the cleavage.  Plus size women almost always have that option and believe me, a little cleavage up top, no one will notice your less than perfect middle.

Its all about drawing attention elsewhere, not hiding it.

Plus Size stores that im a big fan of, (of the top of my head):

CATO, LANE BRYANT, TORRID, ALLOY, TALL GIRLS, ALIGHT, and MAURICES

These are the plus size stores that in my opinion do the best job at keeping up with the current styles...

I believe most of these stores are shoppable online.  Thats a plus for the busy gals : )

Oh, and most of these stores are not prejudice against skinny girls.

Maurices, Cato, Alloy, and Tall Girls all carry sizes from 0-24 and 0-28...

However I believe the rest are only 14 and up...  nanner-nanner-nanner!  : P

Lane Bryant is my favorite place to buy jeans, they have extra tall and jeans that fit ANY body type.

Cuz we all know its not just skinny and fat.

There are all shapes and sizes and Lane Bryant knows that and have revolutionized the Jeans industry.

My size in lane bryant jeans is "3 yellow"...Check it out...

What an awesome post Star!  I LOVE this one!  It's true too, but sometimes we learn it a little late.  I'm just now dawning on the whole "Wear what fits, not what hangs." theory.  It's really amazing because I feel great.  It is a huge difference between tight and fitting.  When it's too tight I'm just completely uncomfortable, pulling, tugging and trying to stretch to hide stuff.  When it fits I just feel good.  I loved going to Lane Bryant and buying my first pair of jeans from them ... it fit snug around my waist, no poofing out in the back, fit around my hips comfortably and then makes my legs look fantastic!  I'm in blue jean love, lol.

Yay im happy for you hege!  I do love when plus size women are not ashamed of their curves.  It does feel amazing when you find clothes that fit right.  Me being a plus size gal my entire life i have had helacious problems in this department.  And when i discovered the stores i mentioned, it all turned around.  It was like "omg, i can look nice too?!  This is amazing!".  I traded in all my baggy shirts and sweatpants for Lane Bryants Jeans and fitted camis : )  Its quite amazing what a flattering outfit does for ones self confidence!

Blue, i had a little trouble decoding your comment, i gathered that you agree tight and too big are a no no, and that last part i didnt quite get..."so girls a bit of discuise ok" ....?...and to accentuate the nice parts that i agree with : )  Thanks blue : )
