I've been sitting/slouching here working and creating thought chains and happened on a kind of epiphany!

The prime directive of the human race used to be survival.
I think, as a species we've come past that learning curve and we know how to survive, we've learned that lesson. The prime directive needs changing, it should be enlightenment, or the pursuit of understanding ourselves, who we are, the pursuit of finding our soul. This, I believe is the new prime directive of the human race in it's evolution.

It's the dawning of a new age, we are currently in a technological age, we're moving away from this necessity, at the stage we are at now we are fully capable of automating enough tasks which would mean nobody on this planet would go hungry or thirsty. There should be no more need of money, machines do most of the work, those things  that actually 'need' to be done in this world, in this lifetime can be taken care of, we have the means to be able to do so. We're at the stage where we should be bettering ourselves as a species, Exploring existence and it's secrets. Sure, there is those teething problems of venturing into new ages, what with conflict and such but that's all they are, teething problems.
We as a species are like adolescent children, our voices just breaking and we are starting to realise responsibility for ourselves, we're starting to understand ourselves, realise our own being and are starting to explore it.
I think, slowly most of us are starting to understand this transistion from one era of our evolution into another, but, as we are all individual, we are all coming to this understanding at different times and different levels.

So what's it all about? What era? Maybe this "dawn of a new age in 2012" holds some meanining and truth! Nobody knows for sure really, however I do think that we are starting to finally grow up, ready to stand on our own two feet as a species into a more mature and enlightened age.

There is no point to this post, no lesson to be learned, just my wild rambling thoughts that  go through my head when I'm in "green" mode.

Talking of which, I'd like to thank Des for letting me into her private world and one of her loves by showing me soulcast and all the fantastic people here with great thoughts to share, it's an awesome community and I'm really enjoying reading and conversing and also like to thank those of you who've made me feel part of the community already.

I will warn you though, some of my posts will be green ramblings just like this one but I hope they will make interesting reading. I'm not as big a poster as most, I prefer sharing when I have something extremely thoughtful to share so there won't be as many but thanks for taking the time to read my posts. :-)

Daunt, good post, and I think you're right.  We honestly have reached the point where it is no longer a struggle to survive (for now).  Now we just have to maintain, and sometimes than can be just as hard as getting there in the first place.  However, yes, while we're maintaining I see a new transition into just finding ourselves, finding out why we're here, trying to make the most out of life.  You see, before it was a question of "My gosh, how do I keep myself, my family, and my species (!) alive?!"   Then it went to "My gosh, how do we keep all of this good stuff going so we can be here for a long time?"  and then it transitions to "OK, we pretty much figured out how to stretch out the stuff that's gonna keep us here, now, why are we here again?"  Values are changing, lifestyles are different, but in general everybody is out to make themselves happy one way or the other.  Some do what actually makes them happy, others do what they think should make them happy and then wind up reverting back and needing to take stock of their lives and what they should really be doing.  Ha, I'm on with this "green blog", even though I think it's a good one and not green at all.  Good topic!

Des, I'm honored that you have honey, the community here is very bonding and healthy for the soul! I am enjoying sharing our green times now and into our twilight years, sharing many, many more talks, memories and feelings. I love you too Princess! :-) xxxx

Thank you for your compliment hege, and for a great debatable reply!
I'm glad to see my ramblings can be understood lol!

You really put that very clearly hege, in layman's steps which points it out directly!
Yes, I do also believe there are a lot of people out for themselves, to make themselves happy and it's selfish, but that's one of individual human traits that not all people have. I think these people are grasping the change in evolution but not quite getting there, it's not about self gains, it's about self improvement, self awareness and self exploration as well as it is for our own race and existent discovery. Your post re-iterates my point about some people making the transition into the new "era", as it were, at different paces. Our race is fickle, yes, but only on a small scale, larger changes and we are more staid, we don't like change, or more to the point, we are reluctant of change, this is what makes the transitions into new ages of our evolution have teething problems, humans are stubborn when it comes to it so it creates that backlash and we get conflict.

I'm getting a little deep but I think it's necessary for us to if we are to survive as a species.
We are teetering on the middle of this fence where we could go either way.
This change in us is one of the most dangerous yet. Bluntly, either we will destroy ourselves in the confusion of this new flux, held back by our own covetous and stubborn nature, or we will grow through it and step out into a new world where understanding will lead us into an age of enlightenment and clarity.

    I remain hopeful

Right that's a big part of it ... how willing are we really to make the necessary changes?  Will we prove intelligent enough to realize where change is necessary, and alternately where it's OK to keep things the same?  We're going to have to step out of our comfort zones a lot more, take lots of risks and come together a lot more than people realize.  It took a lot of effort to get us into a lot of the bad scenarios were in, it's going to take double that effort to get us out.  Also, we didn't get like this in a day, we're not going to move on to the next step in a day either, and if we do .... my god help us all.  No matter if we're all self improving and whatnot, we're all doing it differently, and at different times and sometimes reverting back.  Either way, it's still a concentration on the self when perhaps we could all be better served to think of our planet and every other single being on it as opposed to only ourselves.  Just think, if we were all out to live to make one another's lives better for just, sincere reasons, life could be good ... but we're stuck on me, my, mine.

I think we are getting to the point that you believe we are also, but I also think that there will be very bad times before that point. In this modern world, things can change in an intant. What I mean by that is the current state of the world could be considered unwanted, but it could be much worse. If you look at the past, most major leaps in culture and technology have been made after a period of dark days.

    hi dauntless dave!

i mostly agree with what you said, that humanity's prime directive is shifting from survival to enlightenment.

    but may i add this:
i think one big hindrance that prevents the full shift is the issue of social inequalities.

we (as entire humanity) have the means to produce all basic needs so that no one needs to go hungry or barefooted or homeless or illiterate. but "having the means" is different from actually ensuring that these basic goods and services reach everyone that needs them.

perhaps we need a long transition period of social restructuring, so that the leap from the age of survival to the age of enlightenment is completed.

    good post... :-)

Very true hege, we do have the intelligence to realise there are changes that need to be made, however, we're too rigid and rebellious that not everyone will come to this new change as easily and as acceptingly as others.
Yes, there are a lot of people who are looking at this change with selfish eyes but that's just clouds blocking the sun, people will realise the world is going in a new direction and will start to make changes to themselves.

This is a very valid point nobodyspecial, and, indeed, I believe this to be true. It's that very change in our 'society' (and I use the term loosely) that instigates those darker times.
Right now it's happening, not as bad this time as it has been in the past but that, I think, is due to our awareness of ourselves growing, we're maturing as a species. But yes, darker times are on the cards, it's happening now, but it's that transition into a new era that causes it, once we're through these times we will see a brighter future.

I'm glad to read your post moon, it brings home the point of what I'm trying to get across regarding how some are and the transition that is needed before we are able to come forth into this new age.
It's both encouraging and unfortunate that each of us are individuals with vastly differing minds and personalities.
It's this that makes the changes so confusing and reluctant to come to pass leading us into situations we need to overcome.

Lessons need to be learned from our past experiences or we will suffer the consequences of our own ignorance and spiral on an ever downwards journey into darkness and perplexity.

HISTORY REPEATS Human race is in this world for more than 10000 years. The growth in the area of science and technologies is very slow for the past 9900 years. But for the past 100 years the growth is very high and up normal. The electricity has been found out only 100 years back which is the basis of all these inventions and that too an accidental invention due to an electrocution of one frog in a fence due to a thunder. Any growth which is up normal is dangerous. If four bombs are burst at the four corners of the earth the entire human race will be disappeared. That is the level of scientific investments today we have. This is not for good. History says about the destructions we have during prehistoric days. Bombs were there to swoon entire battalions. Hanuman went to various places by flying to get the medicine for this. He can land at any place without any heliport. When Ravana sent an arrow in the sky (which is a fired one) (agni astra) Rama can sent another one to stop it in the sky itself. (may be missiles of the todays war weapons. Ravana flies from Srilanga to North India and after lifting Sita returns to Srilanga. He can land at any place in side a forest. Todays helicopters will need at least a halipad for this. I am purposefully use the word “history” here as we must not neglect these informations as “puranas”(old stories). When Gandhari (of todays Gandhagar) had an abortion her ovum had been put in a pot and hundred children had been created from this. This may be todays cloning and the pot is not an ordinary clay pot as mentioned here and it may be a fully developed scientific instrument we are using now for cloning. After a huge war between all nations with very powerful destructive weapons only some tribes (whom are away from these destructions) (in some hilly, forest areas like nilgiris, himachal pradesh, south africa, amazon etc) will be survived. As they don't know anything about science and its influences they might have been telling these incidents like “Ravana put an arrow, Rama put another (as they don't know anything other than an arrow), Ravana flies in a peacock (as they don't know the airplanes and know only the peacocks). Even Nostradamus is using only the word white metal bird for planes as there was no airplanes during his period. So we must not ignore these puranas as old stories but we will have to take them as histories. Ayothya is there, Dwaraga is there, Gandhagar is there, Hastinapur is there to tell that these are all already happened. So for the past 9900 years the growth is slow and for the 100 years it is very high means it is the beginning of a big bang. Let us be careful in our steps by not finding out more and more weapons. Let there not be an another destruction. In 100 years, this may happen, that the remaining human race in forests are telling “some big fire is flying in the sky, when it falls on a place it destroys everything. Ching chang has sent an arrow of fire. Before it reaches the ground another arrow is sent by George wellow and it destroys the first. Ching flies to omerike and captures the queen and brings her to his country. Wellow goes there with army of Indianoes and get her back. And after another 5000 years this may be happened. Now the people are well developed in science. They may say that “Wellow and Ching are fictitious characters. Those are only imaginary stories. There was no chance of flying as there were no such technologies developed that much. Science is developed only now. HISTORY REPEATS

Hi. I don't think this has anything to do with the Age of Aquarius. The astrological ages change every 2,000 years, so we've had countless ages of Aquarius here. And I don't think that the prior Age of Pisces has anything to do with Survival, nor do I think that the sign Aquarius translates into enlightenment as compared to an unenlightened Pisces. So I don't see any astrological connection.

But the things you wrote connect to something else. The "Michael Spirits" teach that the souls here on earth are getting older and more mature, and are now in the process of averaging out to "young souls" as opposed to the "baby souls" they used to average out to. So the Michael Spirits report that humanity on earth is now entering its third age, the age of young souls.

The first stage, which can be equated to the era of cavemen, was the infant stage, where the main lesson is, as a matter of fact, survival. The second stage, which we're now advancing out of, and can be compared to the ancient world and the Middle Ages, is the baby stage, when the main lesson is obedience to authority. The third stage, which the world is now entering, is the young stage, when the main lesson is to try out your wings as an individual.

Your post reminds me of the Michael spirits.

A new dinosaur named Tatankacephalus cooneyorum, was recently unearthed in Montana. For me it's not a particularly exciting find. It's a rather standard addition to the anklosaur family, a group of armored dinoraurs with club like tails. It is surmise...
