I wrote last that it will be enough attention grabbing for me and back to blogging. Basically because I didn’t want to continue writing about popular topics. I want to write about what I want, what interests me, and I want to write them well, like writing for a magazine.
I also wrote about blogging tips from a neophyte, because I also wanted to impart some valuable lessons that I learn in a short while that I’m blogging.
However, I felt that I needed to tell you this after mr_how_tos blog about his adsense income for the month of august. I’m no expert here, but I think I’m getting the flow of how things are working around here. I earn a few cents on some days and a few dollars on other days.
But I decided not to concern myself with the monetary aspect, as the only thing I’m concerned now is to blog what I feel and think at the moment, and yes, share inspiration and my travels to all. I have a career and this is not my bread and butter. And as I’ve said before, I don’t really intend to have popular blogs everyday as I don’t have the time to answer comments. But I want readership, people who can appreciate my writing.
Anyway, here goes:
1. Adsense is about advertising. In the media, like for example the TV networks, advertisers place their ads where there is a bigger audience share. In the primetime, ads pay bigger premium for this slot because more people are watching these times.
2. However, with Adsense, advertising works differently. The ads for our pages are electronically generated. Adsense looks for keywords in our blogs and looks for appropriate ads that match the theme or subject of our blogs. For example, if I write about Touring Hongkong, the ads that come out are those about travel information to Hong Kong.
3. I noticed though that the more popular blogs are not really very “advertiser-friendly.” These merely talk about topics like blogging, love, adsense, and soulcast, which do not generate ads from big companies.
In answer to pinkjellybeans’ question, here blogs consist of wide variety of topics. And so are mine. It just happens to be I’m a writer by profession and have been exposed to vicarious experiences that I am able to write about different things, like cooking and dining, travel, faith, work, depression, spa and beauty, politics, law, etc.
But I guess in the end, it all boils down to your intentions about blogging: Are you here to
a. blog and earn some money on the side; or
b. blog and earn money for a living?
If you belong to the first category, you will enjoy blogging. If you belong to the second category, this will be a frustrating experience as this will not be very financially rewarding.
But if you really want to cash in on Soulcast and Adsense, do not only strive to be popular but post blogs that are “advertiser friendly.” Then try to get enough traffic to your site and hope that people will click your ads.
However, this is sad because it defeats the purpose of blogging. This place becomes commercialized and we will have a whole bunch of unhappy people. Oh well, whatever it is worth for you…I am already happy and content with the cents and few dollars that Adsense gives me and I hope that you will be, too. I’ve been on Friendster for 5 months but only spent money on internet cards. I never earned anything. At least here, I’m earning and getting readership for our blogs. But until now, I don’t even know how to cash in Adsense checks in our country if ever I get paid…hahaha
Except for some technical glitches, I’m already happy here. Hope you will be, too.
God bless you all and have a great day!!!:-) Happy blogging!
