If you have absolutly no time to do any primping before going out in public.  There is one thing that will bring out your most natural beauty and make even the most naked of faces look well put together.

If you forgo everything else, this is the one thing that needs to be done...

Well groomed eyebrows make everyone look nice, even with nothing else going on.

All the makup in the world cannot draw attention away from two furry caterpillars above your eyes.

However a set of well groomed eyebrows can allow you to look nice even with nothing else.

Many women however are not fully aware of how to properly pluck or wax their eyebrows.  It does take a certain amount of know how in order to not completely fuck this up.

DO NOT OVER PLUCK!!!  This is crucial.  Its better to have too much than too little.

It is fact that thin eyebrows make the most youthfull woman appear older.

Youve seen'em, those little old bitties running around with pencil thin black eyebrows.  Very important not to copy cat them.  A pair of full, slightly defined eyebrows can bring the youth back into your face.

So if you have overplucked, now is the time to let them grow.  This is easy to do.  If youve gone overboard with the tweezers a little eyebrow pencil can go a long way.  Simply add penciling in the outline you desire to your daily primping routine.

Before you know it, the gap or the thiness will fill itself in and your ready to maintain your new eybrows and slowly get rid of the pencil.

There is a strategy that is incorporated for every face on the planet when it comes to eyebrow plucking.

Here is a how to:

Materials:

A pencil, or something pencil like, something long, straight and thin.

For beginners, you will need a dark eyeliner, any color will do it will be wiped off afterward.

A pair of good tweezers, angled tweezers work best.

For the sissies, a few cubes of ice.  : P  (Im a sissy)

To simplify lets begin with the left eyebrow...

First, begin with a clean face.

Take the pencil and place the end on the left crease of your nostril, and passing through the outer corner of your eye.  The other end of the pencil should be somewhere on your brow bone.  Take the eyeliner and mark the place the pencil is at on your brow bone.  This mark will indicate the end of your brow.

For the inside of your brow, take the pencil and line one end up with the left crease of your nostril.  Follow the pencil straight up past the inside corner of your eye.  Place another mark on your brow bone above the corner of your eye.

Now for your arch.  Place the pencil on the crease of your left nostril, yet again, and the middle of the pencil should be lined up with your pupil.  Complete your masterpiece by placing a mark on your brow bone next to the pencil.

At this point you should have three marks.

One mark that indicates the end of your brow, one mark to indicate the beginning and one mark to indicate your arch.

Pluck everything growing past your outer mark and everything growing before your inner mark.  Clean up the underneath sightly, the goal is to create a little definition, the point is not to "thin them out".  You just want to pluck what looks like it shouldnt be there.  Its very important to keep with what God gave ya.

The arch is the trickiest part and where i most often see horrendous mistakes.
Your brows should not look like upside down V's, they should not look like fish hooks and they should not be straight.

Simply begin tweezing your "cleaning up line" from the inside and work your way toward the middle, slightly arching up toward the arch mark, then begin working your way back down to the outside mark.

It might sound slightly compilcated but really its not.  Once ya get going your eyes will adjust and see the natural arch that god gave ya.  : )

And once you get them good and plucked the first time, up keep is easy.  Just dont let em get too crazy that you have to remeasure.  : )

Also, some womens eyebrows get crazy long.  Trimming them is perfectly acceptable and although mine dont get crazy long i think they look nice trimmed...

Simply wet your brows and take an eyebrows brush or mustache comb and comb the eyebrows up.  Then take a little pair of grooming scissors and snip everything that pokes above your eyebrows.  : )

Have fun!

Huh, you know, you made that sound down right easy.  I think I can handle that.  See, I never learned much about eye brows because a.) my mom didn't teach me much about make up since she left at about the same time I should've been learning about all that stuff ... and b.) she doesn't even really tweeze her own eyebrows.  I might be able to get a handle on these things, heh, and then once I've honed my skills on myself I can go after my nephew, who has a damn unibrow ... that's all I want to get rid of, just the part that makes it a unibrow.  Either way, it'd be nice to be paranoid about what they look like anymore!

Thanks star <3!  I love this!!!

My apologies if I missed it, but have you perhaps posted about how to cut men´s hair?  I love cutting Piet´s hair, and this is relaxing for both of us, BUT lol ... I am not a professional, and sometimes I forget hahaha (I googled, the first time I did it), and I have never done the same haircut twice, lol.

    Please help! *muah*

good blog!  I have mine waxed out of convenience, seems to also leave them smoother.  I also use clear mascara to keep them "in line" since they tend to get messy if I don't.

lol, hege, that stinks your momma didnt pass on those techniques.  Howeva lots of mommies forget to teach their daughters this stuff.  My mom made it a point to teach me all this stuff when i was little.  Her mom never taught her, my gramma was au'natural and my mom was one furry kid up until she was an adult one of her friends let her in on the entire plucking/waxing extravaganza, my mom had no idea it even existed.  So better late than never : )  Phil has a uni brow too! lol, and he shaves it!  I tried getting him to pluck, but he says it hurts too bad!  lol...wimp...

Hi paper!  Good to see you!  Nah i havnt posted on do-it-yourself haircuts...took me over a year to learn how to cut hair! lol...its not something that can be taught through a post...thats what beauty school is for!  : P  I wouldnt even know where to begin, it completly is a case by case thing.  There are a bazillion and one different techniques : )  But id be more than happy to answer any specific questions you have on the technique your already using.  : )

Yes uni, im a fan of waxing too!  But im an at home waxer.  I do it myself...i just cant bring myself to pay someone else to do it.  The last thing i wanna do is bash other cosmetologists, but ive had my coworkers do it for me a few times, just cuz they wanted too, and ive always been disapointed...You could certainly save a few bucks if you went and bought your own waxing machine.  Waxing is a little harder to write a "how to" on.  But if you go to sally's beauty supply and buy the "beginners kit" it comes with a dvd that shows you exactly how to do it.  Watching it is better than any explanation and it really is easy.  Im not tryin to sway you from paying a stylist to do it of course, i totally support everyone getting things done by a professional.  I just wanted you to know your options : )  Ive heard good things about clear mascara.  I havnt ever incorporated it into my routine, im a fan of keepin them trimmed so that step can be eliminated.  But heck yes, i bet that is the icing on the cake.

thanks star! i really enjoy your beauty posts.  i like your tip about making a mark where the pencil rests.  i may give it a whirl but i usually leave it to the professionals because me and hair removal do not get along.
  • starchini said on Apr 13, 2009....

lol no prob frags glad you enjoyed it!  Ive got some doosy stories about me and nair and wax...goodness...i agree, hair removal blows!
