I have this cat.
Several cats, actually, but there's this one in particular. He's determined to be in charge, so he doesn't get along with the other males. Unfortunately, he occasionally doesn't get along with me. Like, if I jump in the middle when two are about to fight. Yes, he will launch himself at my foot, and no, the shoe is not sufficient to prevent bloodied socks. I've lived with perhaps twenty cats in my time, and I've never met one this dangerous.
Yesterday he was being alright. I put an empty pan down by the table so one of the other cats could lick it out. The big meanie, however, wanted to try also. I carried the big one to the chair so he wouldn't eat everything, but he squirmed free and went under the coffee table with the other cat. She was growling about his presence, as she always does. She's decided she doesn't like any of the cats, but she's non-confrontational about it.
So I reach under to grab Mr. Big again, and he goes for my arm. Understandable that he'd be paranoid, with the growling and everything. But anyway, he got one good chomp (and judging from the results, a good slash as well). This resulted in a three inch scratch across the inside of my wrist (luckily not very deep so I didn't bleed to death), plus a couple smaller scratches, but none of that mattered much.
The biggie was the bite. I got a fairly deep puncture that brushed a vein/artery that slowly bled intermittently for quite a few hours, and more painfully, he got my tendons good. Now about thirty hours later, bending my wrist doesn't hurt much anymore, and so long as I keep it straight, I can use it to push/lift stuff of notable weight. Earlier this morning, my left pinky was effectively stronger than my entire right hand.
Now, it's somewhat swollen where he bit my wrist, but I'm confident I'll make a full recovery in a few days.
