I recently watched 2001 A Space Odyssey.  After watching it I went on-line and read some reviews about it.  Some say it is the best science fiction movie every made, some say it was genius.  I sit in awe at this because this movie was painful.  Next to Natural Born Killers this has got to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Watching this movie was like watching paint dry.  At times I considered gouging my eyes out because this movie is so boring.  There is something to say about the accuracy of the movie if one were to consider it was done in 1968 and it portrays events in 2001.  Outside of that there is no plot, the story is painfully weak and the feeling throughout the movie is one of antagonistic anxiety. 

A brief outline of the story is easy.  Square black unknown monolith causes extraordinary events from the "dawn of man" to people in space.  Mix that with painfully long sequences of apes, earth, and space.  Notice how I keep using the word pain.

If you are suicidal avoid this movie at all costs.  If you have a morbid curiosity and want to be bored to near death, get some caffeine and wade through well over two fucking hours of this thing.
