SoulCaster Voltaire says the media is a lost cause.

As I have said before, liberals claim big business is a bad thing, but guess
who runs the big news outlets (ABC, CBC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, etc.) ... big
corporations. And they were all pushing OhBummer and his Democrat
cronies. So yes, the media is not doing what it was intended to do anymore.

Even quasi-news guys like Rush Limbaugh have their own agenda. Rush was
not that big of an asset to the Republican (conservative) party. He has more
to gain (radio ratings) if a Democrat becomes president. His name is in just
about every political article or news piece now. That would not have been
the case if McCain had won.

It is all bogus and we cannot believe anything we see or hear anymore.
I rarely ever watch or listen to any "real" news these days. How can I
believe those who so readily lie to get what they want?

As I told SoulCaster Seer, watching TV in general will rot your brain. It is
a fantasy land of fake judges and people being mean to other people. As
far as I can tell, soap operas are just dramas about people being mean to
other people.

My kid watches a bunch of shows on MTV, and other stations out at the
end of the channel spectrum, that are just people being mean to each
other and saying "fuck" every other word.

It is just another example of Hollywood saying one thing (be kind to
everyone, especially homos) and making programs that say just the
opposite (be mean to everyone while using really foul language and
never refer to homos without making a joke).

Why do we listen to these Hollywood smucks or media smucks? Too bad
we cannot vote them out like we do politicians. Of course, the people
who gave us the current smuck president and congress would probably
vote in an even worse bunch to run Hollywood or the media.

Mob rule is never a good thing. Thank God we have a representative form
of government and not a Democracy (popular vote is a pretty way of
saying mob rule). If someone tells you we should get rid of the electoral
college, explain mob rule to them. Do we really want California, New York,
and Florida running our country, any more than they already do? Do we
really want our president elected by one vote from some smuck who does
not know his or her ass from a hole in the ground?

No, we don't want mob rule.  That much I agree on with you.  I don't know much about Rush Limbaugh other than he becomes the news from time to time.  I don't give much credence to what he says. The media in general gives me a bad taste in my mouth these days.

Rush has a lot of good basic ideas, but his fake arrogance turns a lot of people
off. I say fake arrogance because I think he is joking around and casual listeners
think he is serious. He loves this country and tries to get people to open their
eyes to what is happening and the real arrogance of liberals like Borax, Pellosi,
and Reid. Liberals would love to do away with the electoral college and every
election would turn into a battle of who can shout the loudest and come up
with one more vote from somewhere or keep votes from being counted. I think
the Al Franken battle is still going on. Remember chads in Florida? There has to
be a way to refine the many votes (because we all need a say so in our
government) into a larger, general vote for candidates. The electoral college
accomplished that. If that technique was used in every election, we would
not have problems like the Al Franken deal. The electoral college is just another
example of the brilliance of our founders.

I dont think I understand what you mean here...Especially the part about him having more to gain if a demo bcomes pres.  Rush is trying very hard to be a good politician.  Infact i think hes trying to get out of the radio biz and be a full time politician.  His radio persona just helps him bc that how everyone knows him.  ...So im not sure what you mean by his "own agenda", i mean, a'course he wants to be successful, but what agenda are you talking about?  Cuz i think hed be happier with a repub pres...

On a different note... did you hear about this talk of obama bowing down to some guy in the middle east?  And declaring that the US is not a christian nation, but a nation of individuals?....My dad was lecturing me a bit about it but i dont know the story, could you shed some light on it for me?

  • curmudgeon said on Apr 10, 2009....
From the photos it looks a lot like Obama is bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia. Apparently this is NOT standard protocol for a president meeting a foreign dignitary.

Funny - Obama insists that he is a Christian but he bows to the king of a country where Christianity and every other religion except Islam is outlawed. What kind of Christian does that? What kind of human rights supporter does that? What kind of proponent of liberty does that?

I'm getting more and more pissed off at the Americans who put this guy and his Vice-idiot Biden in office. The way things are going, in less than four years America will run second to China in global economic and political influence, have a shitty (nationalized) health care system that claims a million lives a year, a worse public education system, no domestic auto manufacturing, and trillions of dollars in capital will have moved abroad, all thanks to this obsequious moron.

If I'm wrong, I'll be happy to admit it, but right now I'm just so angry that Americans sought to alleviate their racist guilt by electing someone so horribly unqualified.
  • starchini said on Apr 10, 2009....
agreed...I also heard they lied about it and denied the very clear photos and claimed he was "slouching down bc the kind was shorter than he was, it was not a bow, we swear"...they shoulda just admitted that he fucked up!

I heard a bit of the Michael Medved show today and he played the clip
where dickhead (BO) said that America is not a Christian nation or a
Jewish nation or an Islamic nation, but a nation of ... something ...
individuals, I think. I figure it will be on the FOX Sunday morning shows
(none of the boot-licker liberal networks will mention it).

Dickhead (BO) is a Christian of convenience, for political purposes. No
real Christian would allow babies to be born and then leave them to die
(God that makes me want to puke, but I am compelled to remind
everyone of what a slimball they elected).

As far as I am concerned, this is a Christian nation or maybe a Judeo/
Christian nation. It is just that we tollerate other religions. However,
that tollerance has lifted atheism to the status of a religion and it has
begun squeezing all other religions out of everything, which has to
stop, in my opinion. Christians need to stop cowtowing to Islam and
other religions. I guarantee you they will not be at all tollerant if they
are allowed to outnumber Christians (see Saudi Arabia).

As far as Rush and his agenda, what I meant was, he is more popular
when a Democrat is president. He is America's answer to stupid
Democrat presidents. He came on the national scene during the
Clinton years. He did not have that much to report when Bush was
president. He mostly slammed stupid Democrat senators and
representatives, as far as I know. I could be wrong. I listened to him
very little while Bush was president.

Curm, you are an example of what is going to happen person-by-person
over the next couple of years. Even blacks blinded by BO's couple of
drops of black blood are going to see the light and realize that they
did not elect the messiah, but instead the mess-up. The guy is, at
best, inexperienced, but he is also a vampire willing to pave his way
to the White House with the blood of innocents at the expense of
our way of life. Anyone who thinks socialism is a good thing is a
stupid idiot and cannot be trusted to run our country. BO has proved
that nearly every day so far.

I guess that's why Bush could have easily bowed before the King of Saudi Arabia.  He is neither of those things.  It's only when you're supposed to be a human rights supporter that these gestures can get you into trouble.

Kelly - way to change the subject.

Get this: OBAMA DID NOT TALK ABOUT HUMAN RIGHTS WITH THE KING OF SAUDI ARABIA. Obama did not discuss religious freedom or democracy or of anything of the sort.

Deflect it back to Bush all you want. That only reveals how truly weak the liberal argument is when they can't even speak up for or against their own leader. The fact of the matter is the glorious supporter of human rights, the champion of green energy, the enemy of the big mean oil companies that liberals elected has cravenly bowed to an unelected monarch who also happens to be the most powerful oil baron in the world. Obama's budget hardly has anything "green" in it except tax dollars and he is carrying on with Bush's policy of unilaterally sending missiles into Pakistan and killing unnaccused, untried, unconvicted and largely nameless "militants."

    Human rights supporter? Yeah right.

Alein great post, the last paragraph:

really want our president elected by one vote from some smuck who does

I think CA,NY, and Florida are all ready running the country as sad as that is, and I also think a lot of smucks (maybe even millions) vote when they are truely clueless.  One could say from both sides of the aisle.

  • ALIENated said on Apr 12, 2009....

Yes, the last election demonstrated that millions of voters are clueless. In spite
of BO's inexperience and his being out of step with mainstream American values,
he won anyway. I think a lot of Americans want something for nothing, but most
do not really want BO's socialism, whether they know it or not. I doubt that the
majority of his supporters really understand the implications of socialized health-
care, a government that can dictate direction to private corporations, and other
Hitleresque powers. I just hope intelligent Republicans and Democrats in congress
can keep this man, elected simply because millions mistook him for black and
a Democrat, from destroying our way of life. Say what you will, but George Bush
did the things he did, no matter how the mainstream media and Hollywood twisted
his intent, to preserve our way of life and to stop more terrorist attacks. It will be
interesting (and sad) to see how BO deals with the almost certain terrorist attacks
that await us. We already see how he and his appointments (Hillary) are handling
the Mexican drug lord crisis. The same way BO handled his recent speaking
engagements in Europe -- it is all America's fault. God, what a bunch of losers.

I only glanced over the comments here so if someone feels I missed something of great substance please direct me to it.

    1.  I wouldn't have called Rush a Sellout prior to about two weeks ago.    After he's spent so much time and energy hating on the bailouts.  He specifically spoke about how upsetting it is that GM will be garunteeing warranties with government backed dollars.

A few days later he did a commertial for GM touting how they had warranty gaurantees.  Yeah I know it's just a paycheck but seriously he has enough money that he's supposed to be able to pick his spots.  He became a selloutthat second.

    2.  Mob rule is the only way the world works.  It's the only way the world will ever work.  We've done what we can to limit mob rule but in the end the mob gets upset if they don't get what they want and in the end with the exception of dictatorships where the guns have been carefuly removed from the mob and given to the minority the mob rises up and kills the minority.  Tis a simple fact of life.  Mob rule is the only way that things work.

    3.  Honestly should you want California and New York ruling you?  No.  Do your thing your way.  We stand as stark examples that everything you believe is wrong.  High taxes kill business?  Nope both states rank int he top ten GLOBAL econonomies and both have the highest taxes, minimal wages, and enviromental standards in the nation.  They also have the highest standards of living, highest incomes and the like.  Keep to your backwater Afghanistan ways and remember that Red states are the ones absorbing tax dollars and the blue states are the ones putting said dollars out.  If political climates altered you'd just starve us out but we have to many bleeding hearts to do the same to you.

Liberals do not hold to one of the golden rules of debate, that at least one of us can be wrong, if not both. Liberals think they can play on your ignorance. If they can catch you without your facts handy, they can spin a yarn that would make you believe that George Washington was a homosexual skinhead marxist athiest that believed that man evolved from monkeys and liquor is a form of birth control, and since you weren't there, how do you really know? Huh? Huh? Well, here's these history books that say that liberals are full of shit... But they'll tell you "who writes history?" or even "what is truth?" Well, I guess that depends on what your definition of "is" is, isn't it?

I think its very important for adults to be able to openly discuss whatever political views they have without taking offense.  All of us pretty much have the same end goal.  We all wanna live freely and prosper.  The only way to do it isnt by argueing and taking things personally but by being able to discuss things rationally and come to agreements...Its no wonder the american voice isnt heard...so many people keep quiet bc they dont wanna piss others off and the other half are the ones that take opinions so personal that its impossible to discuss...People just get so nasty when debating politically.  Its obvious why.  "liberals are stupid" "Corrupt Republicans", its pretty difficult to get people to listen to what youve gotta say when you begin statements with such hard extreme offensive to some one liners...Isnt the point of expressing your political opinions intended to get others on your side.  To form a team and recruit people who maybe be misinformed or simply open someones eyes to the "right way", thats impossible to do when you purposely offend the person you want to change.  Telling a liberal they are stupid, or crazy isnt going to make them a conservative, its just going to push them farther into saying your a corrupt conservative...then the vicious circle continues and we all are just  bunch of whiny complainers doing nothing but argueing when we should all be on the same team, left or right doesnt matter...we need to all work for the common good of america instead of being at eachotehrs throats...Republicans bashing obama calling all the liberals stupid wont get anything done, when in reality im sure every liberal is secretly thinking "my God i wish i could take that vote back"...but will they admit it?  No, bc they are being attacked and will defend their decision to death so that the republicans arnt all "we told ya so we told ya sooo hahaha!"...

I just wanted to get that outta my system...i hate all this pointless arguing when we all want the same thing...basically...

Starchini your rant was very well said and I agree with you when talking about a group as a whole.  I think its better to say "certain" Liberals or "certain" Conservatives are stupid.  But when someone comes out with something beyond logic or rational thinking (drivers licenses for illegal aliens) then they have earned it when someone calls them stupid.

Alien-I'm a little unclear here about the Rush sellout thing.  Rush has reached a position in his career where it is not about ratings.  A lot of Republicans have ceased being true conservatives and taken on this sissy moderate stance as if they are hiding from something and I think this was because they bought into the bogus media bullshit that was heaped on GW.  If the Republicans had listened to Rush we wouldn't have gotten our asses handed to us in 2008.

Pansy dumb bed wetters!"  Im gonna say "ya know, i dont think thats a good idea bc......."...Not that im saying your behind that, that was just an example of how all our political conversations should go...Bc of course, no matter what side your on, there are things that "your side" is doing that you wont agree with...Im a republican, and there are certainly a few things that the republican does that I dont agree with...I cant think of any right of the top of my head, but im sure they are there...

blasting back, giving them some of their own medicine. Plus, I think you
kind of have to be stupid to fall for most of the Democrat / liberal agenda.
I think you definitely have to be sold out to the dark side. That was not
always true. JFK was more like George Bush (policies wise) than he was like
Carter, Clinton, or BO. The Democrat party is sliding more and more, and
faster and faster to the left. They want to drag us down into the pit and I

I just like blasting back, giving them some of their own medicine

Hows that workin for ya?  Cuz I only see fighting and blood pressure rising...

Lets not dare take the high road...

The fact that you think political debates are a war, leaves no room for rationality...

There will be no swaying of the audience when you dont make arguements and just bash the other side.

The people who are not on a side will just sit back and listen to the two crazy lefties and righties bicker back and forth going round and round in a circle to see who can be the nastiest and that neutral person will think "my God, its no wonder I stay out of this"...

To be honest, im still quite impressionable.  I lean a certain way and i think it might be obvious.  But i do not exclude any possible opinion wether it be left or right.  I do not view the left as stupid and I do not view the right as corrupt.  I simply listen to everything and make my own choices...if other people have a conflicting view i try to find out why, if i feel they may not be thinking it all the way through, i tell them how i feel in a non offensive manner...

People lead by example, its not tit for tat, or atleast it shouldnt be.

We should be trying to educate the uninformed mislead people, not picking on them for being stupid...

People will just tune you out.  Or ignore all rational bc they are offended...

Oh contrare. The blackness of liberalism and socialism shows up much better on
a pure white background than on the gray muddled background of wishy-washiness.
For example, where would Christianity be if early Christians had sat around and
said "oh well, maybe those Muslims are right, we should allow them to take over
Europe", as we are now. There are good Muslim individuals, but Islam, in general,
is as oppressive as communism. Once it is entrenched, we are doomed.

Most rational people think as you and I do. They might be for this and not
necessarily for that, unlike liberals who march in lock step on a number of issues.
Tell me a couple of things someone believes in and I will tell you how they
stand on just about everything else. Imagine walking around at the Academy
Awards ceremony and talking to people there. I doubt that you would find ten
people there who do not think almost identically on the major PC issues. The
fact that Sean Penn got the Oscar for Milk says it all. Homage to the
    homos that now run Hollywood.

The left did not hate Bush because of the Iraq war -- they hated Bush because
he is a principled, Christian. Everyone was on his side when the war started, but,
as time passed, it was back to homos should be able to marry, too many supreme
court judges not in favor of abortion are being seated, yadda, yadda, yadda. The
sin issues are why the left, the media, and Hollywood really hated Bush. He was
socially Politically Incorrect even though he was politically correct.

And, we are in a war my dear. We have been since the FDR days, and certainly
since the LBJ days. We are in a culture war that is on target to destroy our way
of government, and eventually our way of life. The socialist fantasy will make
slaves of us all. Look what Democrat policies have done to our school system,
our justice system, our tax system, our financial systems, on and on. The BO
administration is in the process of spending the next several generations into
poverty. He is distributing the poverty, not the wealth.

Republicans do not have all the answers, especially since they are cowtowing
to liberalism as well, but they are our best hope at this point. Maybe Rush will
run for president and bring some real conservatism back to the Republicans
party. However, I do not think he would have a snowball's chance in hell of
    winning.

Like I said about hippies : Hippies think that by omission of law we acquire peace. The problem is that 'bad' people and especially 'evil' people don't play by such rules. That's why criminals are 'law breakers,' they don't give two shits about such rules. In a hippie utopia, everybody is free to do as they wish because nobody has the inclination to do evil... That's great, if we're all on weed I guess, but the "smarter" ones would simply take advantage and oppress the others, hence no more utopia... As short lived as a bag of hash.

Most societies have an ongoing battle between the haves and the have
nots. People who have nothing are easily lead by socialists and communists
with their promises of spreading the wealth. Usually the only thing that is
spread is poverty. Where socialism breaks down is in its assumption that
the productive haves will continue to produce without the rewards
of their labor. They will not. When you take away the rewards (money),
any intelligent person (usually the haves) will stop producing. That is where
we are now. What intelligent manager is going to work for a company, and
spend more than minimum energy or obey the law, if he or she is not going
to be rewarded handsomely for it? Ask the Russians. Ask those who have
just had their bonuses taken away. Ask the shareholders of General Motors
where workers are guaranteed high income and premo benefits no matter
what kind of job they do.

Some work for what they have, while others want everything handed to them. Some people believe in the value of a buck, while others think that money grows on trees. Responsibility vs Irresponsibility.

I'm really confused by this focus on Obama and the Kind of Saudi Arabia. The Bush family is personal friends iwth the Saudi Royal Family and Bush was running around holding the guys hand when he came to america.

  • javadewd said on Apr 17, 2009....
Yes, but royal protocol doesn't consider holding hands the equivalent of succumbing to the Prince's rule. When you BOW before the Prince, you are telling the world that you are under him... And the real issue isn't the bowing or hand-holding at all, bloc, it's the fact that the White House flat out lied about it when it was already posted on YouTube. I hope that clears some of it up for ya...
  • bloc said on Apr 17, 2009....
No sane person thinks that Obama believes the Us is beneath Saudi Arabia. This is a silly obsession you guys are on. Most people think it's normal to behave according to the norms of the country you are visiting.

Bowing is traditional in those societies.  Just like it is in Japan.  It's not a matter of subservience its a simple matter of respect.  This btw is exactly what I'm talking about with Republicans leaping at shadows and making themselves look stupid.
  • ALIENated said on Apr 17, 2009....

This is leaping at shadows. Everyone who opposes BO and his politics is just
laying in wait for him to show the first signs of socialism (that has probably
already happened by him firing a CEO of a private company) and being a
Muslim. It is like everyone wants to be the first one to discover the gold and
get the prize-winning picture for the cover of Life magazine (does that even
exist anymore). There will be many opportunites to capture both actions,
but I can understand the desire to be the one that points it out. I cannot
wait for this bunch to be thrown out on their ears.

  • javadewd said on Apr 18, 2009....
Hmm... What could BO do to win me over? Let me think about that for a second...

    He could :

    Give abortion legislation back to the states (seeing as it's "above his pay grade and all") and let them duke it out as far as the moral values within the state boundaries. Sure, large populations/cities would win out, but people would shift from state to state based on their views and the dividing lines would be the mountain ranges (see red states / blue states) separating the coastal states and the rest of us;

    Put a steak in the heart of this Illegal Immigration Amnesty idea (nuff said);

    Stop raising taxes (he plans to do much more in the next 18 months, which should make him unpopular with everybody... I just don't understand) and giving all of the money to the welfare bums (not the currently unenjoyed, but the people who simply don't want to work). And as much as I like the idea of these federal "work programs" I just see it as bondage for those who are doing them... If it gets all the welfare bums off the couch, though, I'll be the first one to change my opinion about them;

    Set standards for the health industry to meet and/or exceed, instead of trying to take them over (see NFPA -- National Fire Protection Association). All local municipalities run fire departments, but the government sets the standards. The government has set standards for tons of different private industries (see oil companies, etc) and health care should be allowed to grow into something innovative, not become a big out-of-control bureacratic behemouth like Social Security;

    Take the US back to the gold standard, albeit gradually. It's funny how the three left-overs from the FDR days (1930's) that led us to World war (the SSA, the SEC and Fannie Mae) are still looming over our heads. It was even some stupid law on the books from then that let Poulson bilk us for TARP-I [which contrary to popular belief Bush had no choice from the way the law was written] and Gietner exploit for the Dems for TARP-II, so why do we have these "toxic laws" still on the books? This will be very difficult now that the Treasury Department is printing money like it's going out of style;

    Let the auto industry simply fail (GM will have to silently renegotiate their contracts with the unions -- they won't shut their doors) and let Capitalism do it's job. Divisions like Hummer, Saturn and so forth are already looking for [and are actively courting] buyers or trying to stand up on their own. It's the government tit that's keeping real "change" from happening here;

    Let the banking/housing/real estate industry either fail or allow start-up capital companies to come in with a sound idea of how to soak up these toxic loans (see Microsoft/Bill Gates debate between bloc and I). The foreclosure market is getting so corrupted from the same shitheads who fucked it up the first time going in and making impossible loan arrangements to banks and buyers alike. Since they never did anything about these shitheads (or maybe simply not enough), the housing industry could bubble again in less than five years. It's time to put an end to the bullshit and give these swindlers their well-deserved reward... A 12x12 concrete cell with iron bars;

I think any one of these would be a good starting point. I'm not asking for the moon, the stars or even world domination. I just want a federal government that makes sense! What's so hard for liberals to understand about this?

  • stopmediabias said on Apr 18, 2009....
I personally think the bow is a non-story.  Even if his intention was to bow who cares?  Saudi Arabia is no where near the country the United States is.  I don't understand why they backed away from it though, that makes no sense and just made a non-story into a story.

Java-very well said, especially a federal government that makes sense or even a federal government that lets the free market work and stays out of the way.
  • javadewd said on Apr 18, 2009....
Call me crazy, SMB, but I think it's a fair and respectful [and my God can we even say poltical in the most purest sense here?] question that the president, congress and even the media should be asking conservatives right now -- "What could BO do to win me over?"

Now if conservatives are asking for vindictive shit like BO's resignation or worse (his head on a plate), it should be dismissed, especially by other conservatives. I don't feel that anything on my wish list is directed at BO, Dems or against liberals, simply [what appears to be] their agenda. If any sort of "under-tone" can be attributed to this list, then it would be anti-socialism or pro-capitalism, which the last time I checked was not unconstitutional, unpatriotic or a threat to national security in any way . It isn't racially motivated and it certainly isn't radical... Hey libs, prove me wrong! Step up...

  • SeanRenaud said on Apr 18, 2009....

Okay Java made some good points.

    1.  Abortion is simply to important to handle state by state and has to be handled on the federal level.  Though if taken that way it would simply become the civilized states vs the barbarian states and it would quickly become apparent the mistakes and they'd be rectified.  So given it would be twenty years of your women dying in back alleys I suppose I could live with that.  Thing is you'd probably pass some stupid laws about women crossing borders so they couldn't move around to handle this.

    2.  We'll see what he does on illegal immigration.  We don't have a choice those people are getting amnesty it's just a matter of how we set things up in advance.

    3.  Pure speculation.  He has yet to raise a real tax.  The cigarette tax is a sin tax.  While I disagree with it quit smoking and don't pay it.  Simple enough.

    4.  Most conservatives view regulations as step one to socialism so you've kinda got me confused on this point.  I'm going to simply accept that your plan sounds workable.

    5.  Gold standard is suicide.  There are a number of reasons for that, the biggest being that what we think of as "wealth" is really a calculation of how much human energy can be gathered up and put to work.  And that amount grows every year right along with the population.  The other problem with Gold, especially as it is forced thinner and thinner over an increasing population is what do you do when some guy finds a vein of gold, even a small one?  Does he instantly become Bill Gates because he built his pool in the right spot?  It just wreaks havoc on the system.

    6.  I'm of mixed opinion here.  But to be fair he already said that GM and Chrystler have 60 and 30 days respectively to put up or shut up.  I think you should be giving him credit on this one.

    7.  Interesting.  I'll go see this other debate.

  • stopmediabias said on Apr 18, 2009....
Sean what the fuck has happened to you?  Civilized states verus barbarian states?  We are barbarians because we think sticking a knife into a woman's crotch and scraping out the unborn is bad for woman and bad overall?  You are becoming deranged defending shit you don't believe.

  • javadewd said on Apr 18, 2009....
Sean, sometimes you're just off the hook, man.

    1. Some states make money off of abortion mills and embryonic stem cell research. Fine. Have it. If "my women" want to cross the state line to have an abortion, then that's fine, too. Worst case, they'd have to move first. If people in a pro-life state don't like the anti-abortion stance, then they are free to move to another state. Also, women wouldn't be dying in back alleys -- that technology went out in the 70's, man. [I hate to wag my finger and say straw man here, but come on...] Take a pill... You [metaphorically, of course] and anybody who wants to abort a fetus... Just don't do it in a state that doesn't approve of it, but it isn't like your gal-pal in the state next door couldn't bring it to you and have you do the deed. Pro-choicers say it's a silent and victimless crime, so again where's the beef? The pro-life states however would no longer be obligated to give psychological counseling to women who have had abortions, nor would they be required to supply birth control and all the other crap that the federal government mandates. What's not fair about that?

    2. Even at the objection of some of my legal immigrant friends (who absolutely hate illegal immigrants and they voted for BO, too) I still support the soft-stance measure of sending them back to their home countries and then throw open the narrow gate for them to get back in so they can start the immigration process correctly. "Welcome to America, please fill out this paperwork and then step right in." Again, I hardly find a problem with this... I'm surprised legitimate aliens aren't leaping at this prospect!

    3. I don't smoke, but I am paying 35% across the board on my small business this year and I'm about to get raped on his administration's proposed changes of the tax code... Not to mention if the head of the IRS can't file (and fix) his $85k+ mistake, I am cringing at the idea of paying even my quarterly estimated taxes...

    4. I do think you are confused... The oil barons -- Rockefeller and so forth -- were tightly regulated and oil companies domestic and abroad are still regulated. It's one thing to regulate the market to keep it fair and free, it is yet another thing to regulate a market through lobbyists and special interest groups (SIGs). For instance, the whole environmentalist position on drilling in protected areas and off the coasts of the gulf states. As much as I agree that protected areas are that way for a reason, it is stupid that China has rigs off our coast. That's why the oil companies are having to turn around and lobby for deregulation in that respect. Does that make more sense?

    5. We left the gold standard in the early 1930's and it has been our country's headache ever since. I'm not asking the Genie to snap her fingers and make us the gold standard tomorrow, what I'm asking is that the monetary printing presses at the US Treasury to take a damn breather. Also, population-wise, you have a point, but we can still fix a dollar at a measurement of gold and have it stay there a while. Even if $1,000 = 1oz of gold, which it isn't far from now, at least it wouldn't throw us into the days of Carter. That's the worst fear of most economists and small business right now. The government is banking on it, because some bean counter seems to think that it will cut our debt in half with other countries (hence China wants us to go to the Amero to tie it to world currency and thereby halt our country's printing of more money than we're worth), which is just a farce.

    6. I'll give him credit when he follows through, not one minute before... Swear. Like I said, any one of these would be a good start... At least for me anyway. I'll be at least 1/7th (~14.3%) less pissy and that's quite a bit!

  • SeanRenaud said on Apr 18, 2009....

    1.  The pill is for the night after, while it is technically an abortion it's really more a prebortion.  you have to take it before you even know your pregnant.

    2.  honestly if we could get them out of the country I'd be just as happy not letting them back in ever.  However the problem is that this we have between seven (the current low guess) and thirteen (the last high guess I heard) million of them.  Shy of Hitleresque gestapo tactics we aren't going to get them all.  We basically need to get the border on lockdown, if that means positionining the Army there so fucking be it.  We need to stop the problem (repeal the fourteenth amendment btw) and then legalize the ones here.

    3.  What were you paying before?

    4.  The China oil rigs are a rumor.  But I agree with the rest of what youre saying.

    5. Again my point remains lets say we set it at 1000$ an ounce for the next say twenty years.  What happens when I dig in my backyard to make a pool and find even a small vein, say one hundred pounds of gold?  I fuck the entire system.  It's not just the US that abandoned the gold standard, the world abandoned it because we had basically out grown it.  Gold is worth money for the same reason that paper is.  We decided one day to honor it.  Aside from being pretty it's relatively useless.  (it is a good conductor)

    6.  So when he doesn't pay Chrystler anymore at the end of this month you'll give credit?  I'm holding you to that.

Also D6 yes Barbarian states.  The same ones that would outlaw Abortion are the ones that have heavy Christian influence and just like Islam when left alone to their devices Christians are cut of the same cloth and do the exact same things.  It would be about a generation before stoning was back in.

  • javadewd said on Apr 18, 2009....
    1. You obviously don't understand how that pill works, nor do you understand birth control in general... It's okay, my wife had to school me in it, too... The chemicals that are released into the body by both of these drugs can trigger the death of an embryo. There are also other chemical solutions, just ask your doctor...

    2. I agree with you on the border issue, but I don't agree with you on amnesty.

    3. With my more than legal and necessary deductions, a far cry from 35%!!!

    4. Really?

    5. Then you're Jed Clampett... Congratulations! The US has to buy your gold [and] then print the money to back it up. Where's the problem? And it doesn't matter what the gold standard is from decade to decade, only that it's based on gold... Not some wild number produced by Treasury bonds!

    6. Hold me to it then... If conservatives are anything, they're accountable!

But your retort to D6fer leaves yet another man of straw to be torn down... You actually have it backwards: a radical is a radical, Islam or Christianity left to either of their own devices does not produce terrorists. If that were true, midwest America would look more like Beirut. Thanks to these fuckers, it is sure starting to... The fact is that this church believes in nothing, except of course violence and bigotry. I don't even understand how they consider themselves Christian, considering Christ taught grace and mercy among other things.
  • stopmediabias said on Apr 18, 2009....
An atheist who constantly invokes religion and none of this has anything to do with religious or Christian, it's like a giant oxymoron.  Forcing a woman to have a baby versus abortion is far from subjugation and that is not what I am proposing.  I am proposing abortion be looked at for what it is, lessoned as much as humanly possible, the absurd contradictions resolved, and for people to be honest to our teenage girls.  The barbarians are the people who let the uneducated create 50 million little tiny corpses to be distributed into dumpsters all across our American landscape.

To clarify absurd contradictions if a man thinks his two week pregnant girl friend cheated on him and runs her down in the road and kills her he can be charged with two homocides but if she goes in and a doctor scrapes out the fetus then its not a homocide.  Fetuses should be designated either life or not life, there shouldn't be an in-between gray area that no-one likes to talk about.  This so our ladies know exactly what they're getting into.

  • javadewd said on Apr 18, 2009....
Dumpsters, hell! That's raw material for embryonic cell research don't ya know? Abortion mills get paid good money for dead babies, er, I mean "embryos." States who host "embryonic research facilities" are soaking up all that newly released money provided by BO and the boys. That's why I'm proposing the states should choose and let the voters choose where they want to live. I think the results would be shocking...
  • ALIENated said on Apr 18, 2009....

Has anyone ever met anyone who had an abortion in a back alley? I heard the
other day that was a bunch of bullshit. That it might have happened once or
twice in the past, but was not a big problem. Follow the money as Rush says
(abortion mills). As far as state by state, you only allow women to have
abortions in their state, if they are legal there (no crossing the border into
another state). Of course, the people could just go to Mexico or Canada, or
Europe. Laws are not going to solve the problem. People's hearts have to be
changed. People have to return to God's laws. Thou shall not kill has to be
written on your heart, not just in some law book somewhere. The problem is
people do not see it as murder, which is pretty sad. I do know this issue and
homosexual issues are tearing this country apart. Bad people are getting into
office on these issues and using them to advance their real agenda.

  • javadewd said on Apr 19, 2009....
I know they exist somewhere out there, but I have never personally met a woman who actually had an abortion that was completely "stable." They are either so turned inward that their self-loving, egotistical or narcissistic side is more than apparent -- or they are so guilt-ridden and mousy that side is very apparent. I have never really seen much else, but I could be wrong... There are enough women here on SC that could straighten me out on this. They may have friends or family that could contradict me, but that's my humble observation.

Bringing up backalley abortions is like saying we should legalize murder
because people want to kill other people, and that is their right. There
was an episode of House in which atheistic, hardcore science-minded
House operated on a pregnant woman to correct something wrong with
the baby, in the womb. The baby, still in the womb, reached out and
grasped House's finger. Call it a fetus if you like, but you are only
    fooling yourself.

If it cannot survive outside the woman un assisted by machinery it's not a human being it's a fetus.  Period.  We have the ability to cheat nature, God if you will.  That doesn't make it an obligation.  Again when you guys start attacking invitro fertilization and personally start adopting all unwanted children you'll have ground to stand on until then even if you call it murder I'll still say fine whatever.  It's a justified murder that improves the lives of all involved.  Including the deceased who won't grow up in a world where they are not wanted and cannot be properly cared for.

Let me just start by saying, I agree that  most of the News Programs out their are pretty terrible.  CNN and Fox News are probably the worst. I remember when, a journalist would have been crucified, and rightfully so for allowing his opinion to be known. The notion of impartiality is a thing of the past, anchors  routinely roll there eyes, grimace, make snide remarks, and draw unsubstantiated conclusions, when reporting events. It is more important to break a story than report it accurately, and when they inevitably misinform us, there is never a retraction. Fox News is the hands down champion though, CNN is nipping at its heels. It is ridiculous that we have 24 hour a day news channels that devote less than four hours to actual news and fill the rest with editorial dribble that serves little purpose but hate-mongering. There used to be time when an impartial mediator would mediate a debate between two experts of opposing viewpoints to argue their point of view on a given subject and be allotted equal time.  Now it seems that we take a democrat or republican and through them into a pack of angry opponents that gang up on the guest and never allow them to get a word in edgewise. My problem with Rush is that his show serves no greater purpose other than to generate income.  It is not intended to inform, only shape perception. He simply shows clips and soundbites out of context. He like so many (democrats included), relies on half-truths and sometimes outright misinformation to achieve his objective. (telling others how to think) The best we can do, is get our news from as many different sources as possible and realize once someone tells us what the believe its no longer news, but instead an infomercial for whatever cause they endorse no matter how noble or misguided. If we don't demand better of our media, then we are all voting misinformed.
  • javadewd said on Aug 12, 2009....
    Drivel... Just for future reference...
  • ALIENated said on Aug 12, 2009....

I agree with most of that. I listened to Rush pretty religiously in the early 90s, when Clinton became president. In those days, Rush was about the only Republican/conservative light in a sea of Democrat/liberal darkness. George Bush the First, an extremeley popular president at first, had been railroaded out of office by the liberal, biased media just as John McCain / Sarah Palin were crucified on the liberal cross by corporate media lapdogs like Chris Mathews and Keith Olbermann. These days I probably average listening to Rush five or ten minutes a week, on my way to or from running an errand. The major mistake most people make is thinking that Mathews, Olbermann, or Limbaugh are newcasters. They are not. They are talking heads promoting their ideas about current events and politics. Every word should be suspect and taken with a grain of salt. And most of us worry about other people listening to them and using them as a reference. I give most people more credit than that. Just as I do not accept everything Rush says, I would imagine the intelligent liberals reject much of what people like Mathews and Olbermann say. None of these guys scare me as much as the guys that used to do the same thing without most people knowing their beliefs. For example, Walter Cronkite. He was a rabid liberal and pushed things we rarely heard about that make my skin crawl when I hear about it. Yet, he came into millions of homes every evening and during most major historical events of his time (like the moon landing and JFK's assassination), and people hung on, and accepted, his every word. Also, we live in very different times. In Walter's day, there was very little core difference between Democrats and Republicans. Today we face different challenges to our way of life and our freedom. I say we need all the information we can get, even if we have to sort through and reject a majority of it. Hopefully, we all want what is best for America. It is just a matter of accomplishing it with our left hand or our right hand. But never forget, the left hand was once used exclusively to wipe one's ass, and in a way, nothing has changed.
