While warning that it won't be a miracle quick-fix, obesity researchers announced a breakthrough in their efforts to develop an anti-obesity vaccine. In a report published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, a team of obesity researchers based in California's Scripps Research Institute announced that lab trials in rats had shown the vaccine to be effective at curbing hunger. The vaccine in question targets a key hormone, known as ghrelin, which is responsible for controlling appetite and feelings of hunger. By slowing down the hunger hormone's activity, researchers noted, the vaccine helps control over-eating and stimulate fat-burning. Further research and fine-tuning is planned before the vaccine can be considered for approval.http://www.lifescript.com/articles/6329.asp?BID=26690&SID=7369841&EID=DB507591-D623-4C8E-8026-9D34959D732B
Hmmm is it really such a good idea to tell people they can eat ask much as they want and not exercise? This vaccine may help with obesity but what about the other effects of overeating and not exercising? It would make more sense to go to the root cause of the problem wouldn't it?
