Except probably for some unwanted fats on my tummy, I’m not pretty much concerned with the way I look.

I have long black manageable hair that I sometimes go out without combing my hair. I let it air dry when I ride the jeepney and when I get to where I’m supposed to go, I comb my hair with my fingers or tie it with a bun.

Usually, I don’t look at myself in the mirror before leaving the house, as I put only two things on my face (which is really out of need): baby powder on my face because it’s oily (which I dust sparingly) and petroleum jelly on my lips because it’s so dry.

In college though, I started to have pimples and since I don’t take care of my skin, the pimples got big and red with pus in the middle. It didn’t help that our country is very hot and humid and I’ve got oily face.

Although a lot of people would tell me not to touch my pimples, I would two fingers to a lump and let it pop (yes, it has a popping sound). The pus would then splatter on the mirror. Gross, yeah, but I liked it, because after I apply some surface medicine, the wound would soon heal and the pimple will be gone. But then, it’s not the only pimple I would have. And I do that everytime I get a new pimple, which is rather liberally.

Anyway, eventually these wounds left deep marks on my face. And as I age (okay I’m 31), I noticed that my acne scars are getting deeper. When I went to the dermatologist, I was told that the collagen of our skin gets depleted with age, which is why the depressed areas of the skin get deeper. It wasn’t a very nice thought and so I asked her if we could do something about it.

She suggested collagen injection, which is every expensive and would have to be done every 6 months to maintain the youthful look. I wouldn’t want to spend PhP14,000 (roughly $280) a year on my face and not earn from it. In my line of work, my face is irrelevant, because I’m as good only as the work I turn in.

Any suggestions on what I could do on my face that doesn’t cost a lot? Like homemade treatments? I don’t really intend to regain my 20s look, but at least the scars won’t get any deeper. Please help.

    Hello...

your problem made me qrius (harhar) so i did a quick search. the best i found was to apply lemon juice on the scar and cucumber juice. the PIPINO juice must always be freshly squeezed and you need to leave this on your face overnight. do this every night until the scars fade. the lemon, well it says you just apply it on the scar and not your whole face because it stings.

the object is to lighten your scars and these are two of the more effective natural remedies.

the lemon juice is actually used as soon as you prick the pimple or acne. clean the pus and blood first (siyempre hugas ka muna ng kamay) then apply juice on cotton balls to put on the acne. it'll prevent the scarring daw.

    hope this helps.

The only thing that worked for me is useing a facial scrub and then after washing my face i would use Maderma Scar Cream .Maderma scar preparations show results over a series of 7 weeks and the results are dramatic. It can be purchased over the counter without a prescription at local retailers for about $30. I used the name brand until i found the off brand at wal-mart. I got it for $8 a tube and it works just as good.
    i hope this helps!

    hi qrius! nice name!:-)

thanks for the tip..i'll do that...
but do you have any idea what to do for
those deep marks? they're no longer
    colored, but they leave holes...

hi hotmom! thanks, too, but we don't have
walmart in the Philippines. :-( and wouldn't
    know the equivalent....but thanks anyway.:-)

Maybe you can use sillicon. My husband uses it for the scars he got from his amputation and it is working miracles. He puts it on at nighttime and you can see difference overnight. I'm not sure if you can get it a chemist or anything, cause he gets it from the occupational therapist. But you can always ask at a chemist, maybe they can help you out.

I have this product. Antioxidant spray. If you want. It works on acne as well as scars. My measle's scar is gone already, Completely.

rosking: silicone? really? like a cream? oh i will really
ask our retail druggist about it. thanks for the tip!:-)

ayinkurie: i'm using ponds antioxidant skin whitening
cream. it's okay for most parts of my face, but i'm not
sure if it's working on my scars...maybe it's working
but i've been using it for quite some time, but the
    dark spots are still there.

where did you get yours? what's the brand?

by the way, i presume that the holes created
long ago could not be remedied by these means, right?

    thanks for all your help!:-)

Sorry, I doubt if any of the treatments suggested so far will work. The only one I've seen work is a sort of skin peeling treatment. I think it was done with a laser and it's expensive. I suppose you have the option of special make up for scars, that will at least hide them. Maybe other things will too. It's worse for guys. we just have to work on developing a charming personality to compensate! lol I'm lucky I'm romantic, caring, and English! But you seem to have some charisma - work on that.
  • Mike10613 said on Sep 01, 2006....
I just wrote that and Google had the acne laser treatment advert up as soon as I'd finished. It costs £225 in Cambridge - not that expensive really. but it looks like it makes your face really sore - when I saw it on TV! But I probably made 10c or something when I clicked on the advert! lol Every cloud has a silver lining!

Isn't the laser treatment permanent? You might want to think about that because I don't think anything will get rid of deep scars.

I'm sure you've already figured out ways to use make up to hide them.

It all depends on how important it is to how you feel. I think it's important to be comfortable with how you look.
You seem comfortable to me, but only you really know what's inside.

I seldomly have pimples but when I got one, it leaves a round mark but doesnt leave a deep wound.

I usually use a toning facial wash, eskinol and a pearl cream.
I think Pearl Cream really works for me. I'm using MCA Pearl Cream with collagen and Vit. E

You can buy it here at around Php150. Which you can use for about 2 months.

Also the deep wound can be lessen by applying a mask. Cucumber mask, or any other types...you may avail some in AVON.

In order to smoothen or flatten the deep wound...use facial wash that's capable of tightening the pores.

I suggest you must have a regular facial cleaning and make sure that every cleaning, avail the mask. Seaweed mask are for oily faces. Collagen Mask....etc. Visit Let's Face It

hi mike!! wow!!! i'm in the Philippines so 225 of your
money is almost the cost of a personal computer!
hahahaha if that's how much it's gonna cost, well
i guess i will stick to lemon juice...hahaha at least the
    colored areas will be minimized.

but hey, thanks for the suggestion on working with
    charisma...haha thanks pal!:-)

btw, i tried SUBSISSION. It's actually a technique that
they dermatologists do. they make punctures on the
scarred area (that was previously injected with
anesthesia) and intentionally make the wounds. this
is supposed to gather collagen into the area and the
depressed area of the skin will swell up. when the
swelling subsides it is hoped that the area will heal
evenly as with the rest of the skin.

my derma tried it on 3 of my deepest scars, it did
come up a bit, but the process is tedious and the healing
is very long. Plus, the area gets discolored again
and i have to use bleaching once more...

it's actually a lot of effort...

mr right: where do you get the MCA face cream?
is it available at Robinsons mall? im in the provinces...
    right now, i use ponds...
  • mr_right14 said on Sep 02, 2006....
Oh! I buy it from a friend. It was initially introduced to me by my Girfriend and gave me a box of it. Enough for 1 yr.

I assume it is available in malls and drugstores.

try to have a moisturizing cream.
I use POND'S moisturizing cream and I apply it at night.

It smoothens your face and it could help flaten your deep wounds.

oh yeah? thanks! i have a new pimple today...hahaha

u seem to know a lot about beauty treatments and
    products.:-)
  • mr_right14 said on Sep 03, 2006....
Using some beauty products doesn't mean that you'll get what you expect or from what the product says.

Some products works on other people but not on you or not on me. Choose a product that really works on you. We do have different skin types. Have one that really suits you.

There are instances, one used a facial cleanser but it get worse! He/She had more pimples than preventing it. But on the others, it lessened the pimples and prevented it.

Hey I'm a straight guy. Don't think I'm a gay if I know a lot of these. Hehehe

    Try this one...
A clear Eskinol the 100ml bottle and a drug DALACIN C 50mg. Open the capsule of the drug and pour the contents into the eskinol.

    About your pimple:
Never amputate your pimples. It might get worse. Always see a specialist.

hahaha i'm not saying you're gay mr right! hahaha
we all have different interests. thanks for your beauty
    tips...i've tried the eskinol-dalacin C combination, it's
    irritating on my skin though.

yes, we all have different skin types. i'll try to keep
my face clean and use some nice products that suit me.
i'm not getting any younger, so i'm getting concerned,
    too...hehehe thanks again!!!:-)
  • mr_right14 said on Sep 03, 2006....
    THANKS for that...

Getting old doesn't mean we have to work on other things and forget about ourselves.

Stress from work, responsibilities, problems, etc...

We're getting older and the more attention we need on our health and beauty.

Oh sad...same with my auntie. She got irritated on it but on her siblings, it worked well.

that reminds me, as soon as i get some extra
bucks, i'll get that massage i've been wanting
to have for more than a month already...hehehe

i'm due to go to the dentist, too...hahaha maybe
if we have more adsense income, no? hahaha
i can get weekly massages and facials...hahaha
  • mr_right14 said on Sep 04, 2006....
I really wish AdSense will do something good for me and for my blog hehehe.

  • sigroid75 said on Sep 04, 2006....
    it's not adsense, but soulcast....oh well, it's
just that they are sharing their income with us.
unlike other sites, they are the only ones earning.
i think that soulcast people are already generous.
let's just do our share to make our site read.:-)

Have you ever tried the Mederma skin care for scars cream. I used it after I had shoulder surgery and it stinks like onions but really helped fade my scar.

I've also read about a collagen drink that is supposed to help your skin look more youthful. I haven't tried it though.

    Good luck :)

I just checked the price of Mederma in the UK £24.30 for 50 grams - a bit expensive. Those deep holes get dirt in them and a facial scrub can make them clean and less visible. I was told toothpaste is good for this and less expensive - it is of course also anticeptic. Putting toothpaste on a zit and letting it dry to kill off bacteria I'm told is effective too. But remember there are worse things. I just came out of hospital after an attack of acute pancreatitis - virtually no food for a week and I'm still on morphine - so I suppose we have to keep things in proportion. There is a vaccine for the bacteria now for acne too available in London. You may have to sell a kidney to pay for it though! lol. Incidentally, adsense do pay out - I've never had any from anything on Soulcast - only websites and a little from Blogspot.

Cleaning and only cleaning! SpaLotions in the morning and scrub + night cream in the evening. Sure, pay attention on food you eat. Some products can cause allergy, redness and camedones. Cosmetological consultant will always instruct you about your skin types and if you see any problem, trust professionals. They know more and will always be able to tell you if your problem is connected with health of just skin care products.
