Living alone for so many years in solitude, my life was empty, filled with darkness and loneliness.

I saw "love" as an annoying buzzing fly, thrown around glibly by those who have no clue as to it's real meaning.
I was content to my existence, the sands of time ticking away at my life, content to live in isolation from the outside world as much as I could.
People throwing niceties at me wearing fake smiles with one hand and offering ridicule, insults and derision behind my back.
I knew this was going on but I was happy to live withdrawn in the desolate wasteground that was the world I knew.

Then, something happened. You came. Offering a keyhole of light to a new world of existence. You lead me slowly into the light of a world of hope, joy, love, laughter and life.
I felt alive! For the first time in my life, I actually felt "alive". New energy came to me, peeling back the layers of fatigue and apathy.
You rescued me from such a lonely and distant existence. I want to live! I want to love! It's all because of you.
I always keep people at a distance, you were an exception from the start. My heart became yours almost instantly, I was scared, sure, but also lifted, I felt free! Liberated from a dark, forbidding jail! Your love leading the way, lighting the path.

My mind is filled with the wonder of the future. The joy we will have together as a family.
Every day is a new day and each day I will thank you in love, in words, in actions and in thoughts for rescuing me. In you I see me, not the one I thought I knew all these years but the one that is deep within me.
I am a new man, a better man because of your love. Every true desire of my heart, even those I never knew existed have been answered in you. Individually, in the eyes of the world, we may not be perfect, but in each other I believe we are, I believe the "us" is perfect. You are my perfect, my lover, my soulmate.
