There seems to be an increase lately in men taking better care of their feet and even wearing their toenails polished.  I also noticed that the popularity of men wearing sandals has dramtically increased as well.  They do seem to go together.
I make these statements because I have noticed this subject popping up more often on various nail blogs, polish appearing on the toes of male celebrities and discussions more in the beauty media.  In fact, the Today show featured Man Glaze nail polish for men in a discussion about emerging personal care trends on national TV just a few weeks ago.

I've been wearing my toenails polished for a number of years now, but I had thought it was just something that I did, not many others.  It is encouraging to see more straight 'regular' guys getting into this, and based on what I've seen, it seems like it is becoming more common as well.

I just happen to like it, so that is the primary reason why I do it, but my wfie also likes the way it looks.  In fact, she was the one that originally encourged me to try it!  I tend to trust her opinion on stuff like this because she is pretty good at knowing what looks good and what doesn't.  One advantage for me is the increased level of care my feet receive now.  I don't suffer from ingrown toenails or rough callouses anymore because I get a pro pedicure pretty much once a month to help keep them in decent shape.

I tend to stick to what I consider more masculine colors like black, gray, brown, silver and blue.  I am just fine with my wife wearing the reds and pinks in the family.  I'm not really interested in looking like a woman.   I do like my feet to look cared-for, but nicer than just plain.

Honestly, I have never felt that this was something that just gay men do.  In fact I don't think I have ever seen a gay man wearing his toenails polished, but I have seen other straight men that are into it.  I am not sure why some people think it would be gay, but I guess we're all a product of our upbringing.

In case you are wondering why a guy would even bring up a subject like this in the first place, I can tell you that since I have contributed to few blogs about this subject, the enthusiastic responses I get from both men and women wondering why more men don't do this made me wonder if they also did not know if was "okay" now for men.  Apparently, there are quite a few other guys who have also tried nail polish to make their feet look better, but have been keeping it private due to a perception that it's not popular or widely accepted.  I would say it's not openly accepted yet, but it sure seems to be on the increase!  And based on my own experience, anyone who has said anything to me after seeing my feet has been very complimentary and positive about it.

I used to try to get my exboyfriend to get a pedicure.  He had difficult toenails to start with.  I thought it would help.  Never did get him into a chair, but I think everyone should enjoy them.

I agree that men can do more to help make their feet look more attractive. The pedicure is a good start, and the polish might be a nice addition too, as long as it's not a girly color like pink or bright red. I think that if done tastefully, a guy could look pretty good with his toes polished and a nice pair of sandals.

I am a straight guy, married to the same woman for almost 39 years who has been painting his toenails for over 15 years with whatever color I thought looked nice - from French to dark to red to pink. Most responses come from women who think it is real nice and wonder how to get their guys to do it. What is very sad is that idiots believe that guys who wear polish are "gay". Prior to WWII women were not permitted (I did say not permitted) to wear pants - today they have more pairs than most men. High heels were invested by men for men and of course women stole them too. Women have to stop thinking that clothing and make up have a gender. If it looks good, it looks good both on men or women. Grow up people. Some of your comments are very stupid.
