I have not been to the dentist in....well a while and I know it is time for a visit. My smile could use a nice polishing and I am sure I have a cavity or two forming from all of the soda I drink. Only problem is...I'm scared of the dentist!

I was reading on how I can overcome this and I feel there is no hope. People have suggested that I go in with an mp3 player to listen to music while they work on my mouth. I think that would help relax me, but what about the sights and smells? I'm literally terrified to even call a dentist office to make an appointment. Just the thought of those sharp things that pick at your teeth and under your gums and the smell of ...the dentist office in general makes me want to faint. I feel a panic attack coming on. Maybe I should call around and look for the most emotionally sensitive dentist who will be extremely patient with me.

Any suggestions?!

I don't have any suggestions.  I had a bad experience with a dentist when I was a child.  Now I only go in have to cases.  I take very good care of my teeth to avoid that.  :-)

Good luck in finding a sensitive one.

I understand. Relax! There is nothing scary about a visit to the dentist. Most methods are painless & minimally invasive.

Tooth cleaning is a very simple procedure. The dentist will remove all the calculus accumulated on your teeth with a sharp object but it is absolutely painless. You wont feel a thing, trust me! :)

If you think there are caries developing in your teeth, you must rush to your dentist because as of now it might be in the initial stages & you could get away with a temporary/permanent filling which is a painless procedure. However, if you delay your visit, the bacteria could affect your pulp & you might hafta opt for a root canal treatment which is pretty painful.

So yea stop being scared & get your regular dental check-ups done cuz it really helps! :)

Hope I could help :) Good luck!
