It would be nice to be like kruuyai and have my biggest problem being the time to post about the last wonder of the world I just visited.

It would be nice to be like gingersoul and walk around with music and poetry filling my head at work, then go home and walk Romeo, swinging my butt and making the guys drool before cooking a great Italian dinner.

It would be neat to be like uniquely-ironic and have no worries, spend my time buying weird things and posting about each beer I drank in the evening, getting happier with each one.

It would be neat to be like moonriver and travel from place to place, write about it and my adventures and get paid for it.

Wouldn't it be neat to be like pickersplock and see everything as funny?

It would be neat to be like alien and d6fer and have all the "right" answers.

How fun to be diabolicdame and have looks, a degree, and ready to take on the world?

Or be fragglesrock and cure all your ills with friends, a pub, and karyoke?

Or be mobil and be all pretty and charming.

Or quietone and paint your cares away?

If I was secretlife I'd say 'screw it, I need a vacation', jump in a sports car and drive West fast as I could with blond hair flying in the wind.

BUT....as it is...I'm beyond.....

and the biggest thing I have to look forward to is driving three hours a bit later
and painting the inside of a house, then go drink coffee with a bunch of old guys.

....whoopie....

on top of that, I'm bored until I can engage in that choice morsel...

so I'll just sit here and write some really great shit like this.

Oh, by the way - I feel pretty darn good - that's how exciting my life is.

I like painting houses -- can I come with? :) I could make you laugh with some of my kids' latest escapades...

no worries?  well, I have them, but I'm blessed with a strong denial gene.  Each life has it's blessings.  I'd love the have the blessing of a loving spouse (like you do), but in the abscence of that I appreciate the blessings I do have.
  • pickersplock said on Mar 17, 2009....
Eh, my life isn't that exciting either......why just this morning I felt like cuffing a certain someone........I just think my venting comes out funny.
Trust me, it's not that funny here.

You know how someone tells a joke about what happened to them, and no one laughs, so the person says, "I guess you had to be there!"
Well, with me it's just the opposite! :)
  • fragglesrock said on Mar 17, 2009....
ah...but i'd like to be like beyond with a settled, happy life, a great sense of humor, and a heart of gold, but as it is i'm just fraggles - but i'm going to be LEPRECHAUN FRAGGLES tonight, in a pub, curing my ills with  friends...i guess my life ain't so bad ;-) thanks beyond!
  • pickersplock said on Mar 17, 2009....
Wait a minute did you say Mobil was all pretty and charming?
  • Lucytorial said on Mar 17, 2009....
isn't it fabulous to meet so many various people beyond? thats what makes life bright, and you do write great shti! LOL
  • beyondtheveil said on Mar 17, 2009....
infernal- I'd really like to have the help. If you can make me laugh while painting, you're good.

unique- Denial gene - I've got to look for that. I do appreciate the wife, by the way, a whole lot.

pickers- I'd like to spend a day at your house to see how all that happens.

fraggles- See! You're going to that pub again! (does that mean green beer?). I'll be sitting in the front yard with my dog.

pickers- Mobil is the one that swears he's pretty and charming.

lucy- It is good to have met you and all these people. I don't know what I'd do without everyone.

    hi beyond.

my life only looks that way (travel, adventure, fun times) because i don't usually write about the boring, daily mundane things that i also need to do like most of us.

most days, i'm also tied down to office work. i commute. i jostle with other rush-hour passengers. i do groceries and taxes and laundry. i feed the dogs, help jiggy with his homework, haggle with him for computer use, clean the toilet bowl, pay my bills, hunt for second-hand books and shoes because that's all i can afford...

it can even get worse during my occasional travels, because i have to live off a shoestring budget and backpacker's luggage, miss some meals (i do love airline food!), while my workload doubles or triples, in unfamiliar surroundings among strangers.

technically, i don't get paid for traveling.

the institution i work for assigns me to destinations and missions that others would shirk from, arranges for most transactions that requires money, and gives me a survival-level allowance.

i usually end up paying much of my travel expenses out of my own pocket.
but yes, since i'm notorious for loving (or at least finding something to like in) whatever i have to do, i do have that uncanny ability to have a bit of fun even in cleaning dirty toilets, or working with a newspaper delivery crew at dawn, or going on long hikes with muddy shoes.

ah, but i'm sure you will never want to exchange places with me, my friend. you have an ideal life, that's why you feel pretty darn good about it... :-)

  • beyondtheveil said on Mar 17, 2009....
moon- Ah Ha!  I thought I'd get a story out of you on that one - and I did. I've become accustomed to your stories and never tire. How is it you get meals on planes? All I ever get is peanuts even if I fly across the country.

Actually, I do feel pretty good about my life, it's just not an excitement filled existence. It does give me that occasional something to bitch about, though.

(I've always liked your dirty toilets blog)
  • moonriver said on Mar 17, 2009....
mrbeyond -- why, doesn't everyone else get meals on planes? i know i do... and i always fly economy class too.

btw, told a friend lately that, whatever everyone else says, i happen to love airline food and always look forward to the scent of microwaved food on carts rolling down the aisle towards my seat...

not to mention the lulling effect of the muffled screams of the engines and the tired groan of wing ailerons as the plane goes through pockets of turbulence and the flight attendants remind everyone to return to their seats and buckle up... i just love the whole peaceful zen of it.

ah, but i reserve this story for another blog.
later, my friend. i'm on coffee break, gotta get back to the ho-hum meeting...

Everyone's life hadn't struck me as so wonderful.
That you're content with such a "boring" life strikes me as rather fortunate compared with some of the angst I've read from the others.

    Seems neat enough being you.

My boring life suits me fine too.

  • mobil said on Mar 17, 2009....
You got the pretty and charming right Buddy, though sometimes it can be a living hell to be this pretty and this charming.............

I give charm lessons if you're interested.........
  • silver_phoenix said on Mar 17, 2009....
beyond- what am I? chopped liver?? haha
  • beyondtheveil said on Mar 17, 2009....
dying- Boring can have its good side, I must agree. I think its sitting around reading other people's tales that make me feel I'm missing something. I need to get out more.

mobil- My dog thinks I'm a real charmer, but she's about the only one. My wife says I am to make me feel better - or get another gift card to Bath & Body Works.

BeyBey......swinging my butt? ......lol.... this really made my day, silly you...

So, lets see......i apparently spend my days strutting my stuff (maybe with my black boots on) while walking my aspiring bunny killer dog while declaiming poems while listening to music while making men dropping dead as i pass by......pfiuuu....that's quite a lot of life.....

Btw, how do you know i do all these stuff? Are you earthgoggling me?.....:-D..

Know what.... any time you want come to spend a day with me.....you will be more than welcome...naturally, the lasagna and the tiramisu will be ready for you.....;-)

Moon.....i get my share of plane food during my international flights to Italy ....i can't say to share your passion for it though......sorry, no......lol..

But i do remember that during the flight Atlanta-Roma with Delta years ago i ate a really succulent sweet orange chicken with rice....and a slice of a great cake too....

    Such things are well gone...
Now during the domestic traits i have to shell money if i want something more than penauts and water......thieves...

phoxy- You have a great life girl. You're biggest problem is waiting for spring break. Must be tough.

CW- Its a fun bunch, don't you think?

queenie- (I didn't know my energy was that positive)

ginsoul- I have these "visions" of how you spend your day - I'll bet I'm at least pretty close. I love Lasagna and Tiramisu so I'll dream about that tonight. About the airlines, do you get a meal flying in the US? I never do. We usually fly Southwest, but we flew from Albuquerque to Boston on American and didn't get one.

lioness- I don't know about as interesting, but I sure do have a lot of time. It will be better in the Spring. Where you been, by the way?

    rolling- You look happy.
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Mar 17, 2009....
Well...  You did say once that it came as no surprise to you why I am so smitten.  :)

But you do lead a charmed life yourself, you know?  I would love to have some coffee with old friends, shoot the breeze and sit with a dog's head on my lap.  That does sound pretty good, all things considering.

Right now, I'm sitting under some fluorescent lights trying to get over a hurdle, or a jumble of word salad slowly repeating a mantra.

Personally, I think it would be neat to be like Joanna and piet who no longer have to long for each other from a far.

A day off would be nice, too...
  • Lioness said on Mar 17, 2009....
beyond, I just came back from a lengthy leave of absence, so I had literally loads of work to finish, and it's not fun. I'd rather paint too. :D
  • beyondtheveil said on Mar 17, 2009....
grape- Its not so bad, the boredom comes and goes. Why can't you get a day off? - I can loan you several. You could move to Dallas, you know. Just load up your car and split.

lioness- I just left here and found your new post - you lucky, lucky girl. That's about the neatest baby I've ever seen (beautiful as my daughter was).
  • Lioness said on Mar 17, 2009....
thanks a lot beyond, you must be a very proud dad. :D
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Mar 18, 2009....
btv:  No day off because it's not worth the pay cut.  Also, I had been kicking around for the last four months or so, so I guess it could be pennants for the laziness of my recent past.  :)

I would love for you to lend me a day off or two.  Especially the kind that I can spend sitting on a porch swing, with a dog sitting near me, sipping lemonade, or ice tea...

As to moving to Dallas, I'm working towards it.  Another reason for no day off.  Well worth it.  :D
  • diabolicdame said on Mar 18, 2009....
Hey btv!! You know what, I've never painted a house and its always been a fantasy of mine! Seriously.. it looks like sooo much fun.. will you take me with you too?

By the way I think it would be pretty darn good to be beyondtheveil and be charming enough to see something positive in everybody I know.. and be funny enough to make everybody laugh.. and nice enough to make them smile.. how I would like to have all that great karma!!

Thanks for saying such nice stuff btv.. you made me smile again.. I had no idea I could take on the world.. what would we do without you!!  :-)
  • secretlife said on Mar 18, 2009....
LOL......i was saying as i opened this post and read the first two lines - 'he won't want to switch places w/me!!!!'
it's funny how much perspective you gain tho, sitting where i sit.

painting and coffee w/old friends seems lile a grand ole time to me these days-

of course i'd prefer a drive in that convertible; driving off into the sunset.- who wouldn't?

    have fun today!
  • hotaka said on Mar 18, 2009....
It'd be nice to be like a lot of people but at least you are liked by a lot of people (if no one has already said that - I didn't read the comments above). As for me, I'd like to do the things a lot of people do and so I'll just have to make the plans and try to do them.
  • beyondtheveil said on Mar 18, 2009....
diabo- Darn right you can help - I'll even give you the ceiling so I can laugh at you covered in paint. You're such a neat girl, I just hope half those things you said are true.

secret- There are a hundred reasons people would like to be you, but at this moment I just wish you could chase that sunset for a while.

hotaka- There's no doubt in my mind you'll make those plans. You've always struck me as a doer rather than a watcher.
  • silver_phoenix said on Mar 18, 2009....
beyond- it's really tough, what with shitty teachers that literally stare at me expecting me to say something as if i have anything to say about the boring subject matter...multiple that times 3...add mood swings and you've got me, little miss sunshine :-P
  • HollyGoLightly said on Mar 18, 2009....

Dear kruuyai-gingersoul-uniquely-ironic-moonriver-pickersplock-aliend6fer-diabolicdame-fragglesrock-mobil-quietone-secretlife formally know as beyondtheveil,

Although the traveling around the world painting things swinging your butt and drinking would be quite interesting, I'd imagine it would take a lot of work.

I like you just the way you are.

  • beyondtheveil said on Mar 19, 2009....
withoutshade- Thank you. And by the way, swinging my butt would do absolutely no good whatsoever for me. Drinking some helps, though.
