dyingman reads (5):
James is a co-worker who joined my team a few months ago.  We hit it off reasonably well and he's been open about his life outside work.  Unlike Joe, he's a bachelor and also unlike Joe he's sporting a spare tire of at least 100 pounds.  Poor guy gets winded climbing 3 flights of stairs and is no fan of exercise, but has taken it upon himself to commit to the battle of the bulge.  He is in martial arts fitness classes and they run him ragged when he chooses to show up, which, to his credit, is often.

I explained the "workout wingman" relationship I'd had with Joe before he broke his foot and James signed on.

James has been a rather respectable partner.  His bouts at the class shame me in my fit-but-not-fab routine.  He also has managed to do some exercise at home in order that he not come to work empty handed and let me slack off.

I have been reasonably good about bringing my trifecta of cycling, push ups and situps in each morning.  I also hoof the stairs a lot more than I think I would without his being there.  James has NOT committed to taking stairs.  I gently tease him and he laments his sloth dutifully.

I have done my cycling tonight but5 not situps or pushups.  Given James' attention to his classes and extra curricular working out, I may need to step up my game.  James has surpassed Joe.  I may be doing exercise I really don't want to do soon, but my body will thank me for it.

    Secretlife
I've heard the same and Dr. Mirkin sites studies that agree.

    And he, I.
If I don't exercise, I let him down.  I don't feel as bad when I only let myself down.

So far, I think I'm doing better than usual.
I'm bad at doing the situps.  They take the most time.

    Secretlife,
Nope, I have no trendy fitness equipment.  Just a weight bench, exercise bike, and punching bag.  No technology less than a century old.

    Seer,
I miss sprinting.  That's the big thing.  I work around the other stuff.  The big concern is it'll get worse in the coming years.  I'm climbing stairs every day hoping to stabilize the joints with the leg muscles.
    Good to see you.
