Even though I usually discuss Eastern Europe and travel, I also am really interested in online software. When I hear of or try something I really like, there is a good chance I will write about it. Well, this morning on the BBC I heard about a new web service that is bound to be very exciting...especially for those of you sick of paying $.99/song on iTunes like me.
The new site set to kick off in December 2006 is called Spiral Frog (http://www.spiralfrog.com) and-prepare yourself- it will offer free downloads! Spiral Frog just signed a contract with UMG that will make their music catalogue available to the world for free!
The company plans to make it's income through advertising revenues. If this works out it will be a blessing for everyone. Consumers can get free music without fearing lawsuits, viruses, and low quality music. The music industry can stop losing revenues. Fabulous! I personally don't mind a few ads in my face if I get free music...do you??
