I like my sons to get haircuts every 2weeks. The youngest has curly hair so he doesn't need to go as often as the other two children and they resent that fact. Tonight my middle child was told by me to go back to the chair to have it cut down more and he complained and copped  a major attitude b/c his younger brother only got a shape up and part of the top of his curly hair cut off and not the hair cut he had to get. Race has never been much of an issue or spoken about in my family only in the context of jokes usually b/c mines is an interracial family.

My other two boys are 1/2 hispanic and they have African american features. Well the middle one is sort of inbetween features but he still looks Black. My youngest has more Aryan features like my husband including his hair which is probably a very silky like my husbands hair but with curls. How do I broach the subject with a 10yrold though? The 10yrold is the middle one. His hair texture is nice actually but I love it when he cuts it low.
My oldest too. But the little one wanted his curls to grow out. Which my husband kinda wanted anyway and it's kinda cute b/c he's a kid.

I don't know perhaps I'm making more of a deal out of it than he did, although his pouting pissed me off when he was finished and slammed himself down in the seat next to me.

ahhh, isn't amazing how a simple haircut can ignite such a pout-fest?  my older son's hair is big, bushy, blonde, and CURLY, i wish he would keep it shorter, but i pick my battles, he makes high honors every grade card and i told him he could keep the hair as long as he keeps the grades...only time he cuts it is in football season so his helmet can fit...lol!  my younger son has very thick, wavy, hair.  he wants it to look 'cool' so badly, but if i let him grow it too long it just sticks up everywhere and looks rather unkempt...not even in a 'cool' way...but even with him i try and pick my battles and i let him keep it a bit longer than i'd like...sigh :)

My son went through a stage where he let his hair grow out in the the damnest styles.  I bit my lip more than once, always politely offering to pay for a hair cut.  It payed off.  Now of his own volition he keeps it neatly trimmed.

i know many many people have a different opinion than me.....but.....well....it's hair.
it's a form of personal expression. one of the only ways a kid really can express themselves.

i've let my kids have their hair pretty much however they want.........with the exception that if they won't let me brush it then it's cut.

now i know it's a bit different with girls.......double standard.

i do have rules...but they are pretty lax.
so long as they are modest........tummy covered, skirts a couple inches past their fingertips. .....etc.
    and warm enough...........
i'm sure the rules will change a bit as they get older......but how they look isn't a big deal so long as they are clean, modest and warm enough.

hahaha, my three year old has this massive curly hair but it's like a little mini fro.  She's a girl, but it grow OUT...like something just exploded on her head and the hair goes in all kinds of direction BUT down.  lol  My wife has tried to straighten it using a straightener, just for fun to see what it would look like.  She looks like a different that I would've be able to recognize.  lol

Hahahahahaha. No comment. I don't have kids, but I think this is one of those things that you can laugh about in a few years.

Very interesting how complex a hair cut or style can be ... until you've gone through it you'd never know.  For instance, I never knew that a "perm" straightens an African American's hair, while it would curl a Caucasian's.  Interesting for sure!

A hate crime? Or just a white girl getting raped?...
I was on iseecolor.com and I was reading a discussion about black women killing Black America and Black men. They had youtube videos that were down by black men talking about how black women are destroying black men, the black family, and themselves. One...
