I don't drink tea. Hot tea is vile, and I'm also a really bad Southerner, 'cause somewhere along the way I decided iced tea is gross too.

But anyway, that's not the point of this. Tea is totally trivial.

What is your cup of tea?

I loooove iced tea......when the weather gets nice I plan to make a great big pitcher of lipton sun tea and retire to the patio for like 3 months!

Iced tea is the drink of the Gods here.

You can have the hot tea.

    hi infernal.
i drink a combination of coffee and tea.
a couple of cups of black coffee in the morning (no cream), and bottomless pots of mild tea the whole day.
green tea, oolong tea, indian chai, ceylon black tea, jasmine-flavored, hot, iced, with lemon, with milk ... you name it.
sometimes i prepare a pot of strong native coffee at night when i need to beat a deadline.

Italian Serie A on the TV, me on a comfy couch...

Now that's my cup of tea...  :D

Wait...  Are we really talking about tea?  I thought you said it was trivial...  Well...  If I have to choose, either green or mint tea please.  No lemon, no creme.  Just sugar (or honey) please.

I have been known to drink licorice tea once in a while, and ginger tea when I'm sick.

    IS NOT! :p

I have been told that if I ever stop drinking tea I'm likely to put several trading companies out of business, lol!  Earl Grey, Red Rose (pity, only in Canada!).  For Christmas someone got me a collection of loose-leaf green teas in little tins (almond, spearmint, etc.) and since then I have been discovering the little tea-and-chocolate shop just across the street from us.

They have this wonderful thing called "Cream Earl Grey" that I am really bingeing on lately.  I also like their "spice market tea" and an African green tea...the one I've been drinking is called Kapoachura or something like that.

I do drink iced tea, at home it's practically a second religion, but up here we don't have the right kind of tea to make it with so I've given up on it for the time being.  I've tried making it with Red Rose but it's kind of...weird. lol!

My cup 'o tea?  I like hot tea in a mug with a little bit of honey.  Tastes awesome and does absolute wonders for my throat, which is in general the only time I drink it (if I'm not feeling well).  It sure beats that Thera-flu crap, THAT tastes awful!
  • evil_twin said on Mar 13, 2009....
I don't think tea is nasty! I like hot tea sometimes (though coffee is always better) but I love iced tea. That's my favorite drink in the summer time. But I like it really sweet. My mom used to make iced tea with tons of lemons and sugar and I'm not that fond of the lemons really, but she spoiled me into wanting it filled with 10 pounds of sugar :-P

I think you were asking a deeper question here though, weren't you? What's my cup of tea? I think it's too early in the morning for me to ponder that. But I know what's NOT my cup of tea, waking up early!

I like green, mint, camomile, black and sometimes fruit flavored teas.  I usually prefer them hot with honey, but I've been known to buy an iced green tea.  White tea is also good and mild in flavor.  If you're not a tea fan you might give that a try.

    LOL

I lurv tea: hot &/or ice cold, infernally!  I even named one of my avatars on the net: Tate Teatime.

I was in London 12 years ago, but missed on the opportunity of having high tea *aghast* even though I was there for almost 2 weeks!

My all time favourite is Earl Grey.  You know  how I discovered this tea? LOL  I am so lame...it was because Patrick Stewart´s character Jean Luc Picard of The Enterprise always asked for it, " Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.. ." from the thingy (googled it , lol : the replicator!!!) that produces almost anything in the Star Trek Series *giggle*.

    :)

Hope you and the family are doing well!

@PBW:  it's not lame!  Or if it is we can both be lame together.  When I first started drinking tea, other than my mother's iced tea I insisted on Earl Grey for the same reason as you!  I am a HUGE Star Trek:TNG fan, starting from the age of about 4 (the show started on TV when I was 2 or 3).

YUCK! Just the though of tea is gross. I can't stand the stuff. I"m the only one in my family too who feels that way. Same about coffee. I love love love the SMELL of coffee, but can't drink it....unless it's one of those ones from Starbucks that tastes more like a milk shake. LOL
  • PAPERBACKWRITER said on Mar 13, 2009....

Nyt!!! Omigosh! I am so tempted to blather  :D but in the middle of chores (will blog it!).  I had to google replicator because I watched the series (re-runs) when I was already in Germany (arrived 1993 I was 21, started watching it 1994-95...and I think it is still running...Germans love it - Raumschiff Enterprise: Das Nächste Jahrhundert), and learned a lot of German through that series!

I love tea, hot or cold. There are different flavor which the taste is going to be different. It also depends on what you put in it to drink. I remember having tea with milk or cream in it- got this idea from table mates that we dined together on a cruise. They were Canadian and they told me that was how they drank their tea. It was an inquired taste!

  • nytquill17 said on Mar 13, 2009....
Haha Canadians do tend to put a LOT of milk in their tea.  A (Canadian) friend served me tea at her house once after dinner, she got out all the tea things and the milk...but no spoons.  They just poured in so much milk they didn't need to stir anything!  Holy cow.

I live in Canada now but I was raised in the U.S.  I like my tea with a little milk in it sometimes, to make it a bit richer and cut the bitterness, depending on the taste I want.  But it's only good with black teas and I only use like a tablespoon or two.  I used to take my tea with cream but now that I've been drinking skim milk for ages it just tastes greasy to me.

@PBW: I'll be looking for that blog, young lady! ;)

I like sweet tea .. mmm
  • Zayda said on Mar 13, 2009....
Hmmm...what's in my cup of tea?

This morning it was black chai with a splash of milk and honey.

This afternoon, it was Crystal Light Iced tea with Lemon made from one of those little packets you add to a water bottle because I was on the go.

I love freshly brewed iced tea. I usually make my iced tea with Lady Grey tea. But just plain old Lipton regular tea bags will do. If I make iced tea, it has to be sweetened, but I use Splenda to sweeten it with.

In the summer, I like to make pitchers of iced tea and slice up fresh lemons and oranges to float in them.

I've had sassafras tea before, but am not too fond of it.

I think my favorite is the Vietnamese tea we get at a local Asian food restaurant. It's cold and iced with a heavy dose of spices (like chai but not quite) and a good "gollup" of milk added to it.

    Infie......and you are so wrong....LOL....

My favorite drink is coffee BUT i do I love tea.....the one i have always in my pantry is cranberry-pomegranate green tea, followed by blueberry tea, white tea (the most expensive and powerful), mixed berry tea, and peach-orange tea.

My mom introduced me to the famous and delicious Twinings Earl Grey since a kid and i remember her sipping her cup of tea, religiously, after dinner...

Naturally, i like it with lemon and sugar...absolutely no milk and cream......

    Now that's nasty.....:-)
  • Mr_Box said on Mar 13, 2009....
oh i like tea. mostly ice tea but i can drink hot tea too if for some reason coffee isnt available to me. i only would drink it with sugar though and nothing disgusting like cream or milk. yuuuuck.

to me that doesnt belong in tea but i guess some people do think it belongs.....but i like a nice cinamonny tea or earl gray...but mostly i like coffee instead. but i never turn down ice tea on a hot day.........
  • MissMimi said on Mar 13, 2009....
I think coffee is vile, so I am a tea drinker.  Mostly nowadays I have to drink either herbal tea or decaffeinated tea, but I do indulge in a cup of Lady Grey every now and then.

Hot tea is better sweetened with honey.  I would flunk southern living.  Sweet tea is much too sweet for me.

Oh did you mean what is my cup of tea other than tea?  That's a good question.  Maybe dinner with good friends, sitting around the table for hours talking and laughing.
  • fragglesrock said on Mar 13, 2009....
