The following was written by my Husband...It was so funny to me I had tears Enjoy.
I have a 1980 Celica Convertible for sale (1 of 480 made, called the "Sundancer" or something) for $550. As soon as I find the title it'll be in the Huachuca Scout and/or Post Lemon Lot. Outside of the team (and friends), it's going to the first $650. If you know someone who wants a cheap commuter… have them email me!
I would just give it away but I've dumped $1200 into it over the last year.
CONS:
* DEFINITELY NOT A LOOKER!!! WON'T WIN ANY CAR SHOWS WITH THIS ONE…
* Interior could use some love (JC Whitney has "racing seats" for under $80 delivered). The driver's seat is UGLY but works fine.
* Color: CrapStain Brown with several dings on the sides. Original Turd Brown paint!
* Needs a new Top ($400+) if you want it fully waterproof. The last few years I've kept it closed with Duct Tape :D Otherwise operational.
* Might need new rear brakes, I replaced the front and master cylinder this year. Stops fine but I'm just letting you know.
* Every other month or 3, needs a fluid or two replaced. (sometimes oil, sometimes brake fluid….. a $4 issue ). Ever since I added Prolong treatment, it hasn't needed any oil for the last year. I've added brake fluid two or three times over the last year… probably needs new rear brakes)
PROS:
* New Tires
* New Battery
* New Front brakes and Master Cylinder this year.
* 3 year old clutch. (it's a stick, obviously)
* Fun to commute with (if you don't care what the Jones's think)
* Commuted with it for 3 years, my only problem was a faulty new battery. For a few days, I solo push started it!
* Comes with car cover and all the weird shiit in the trunk that came with it when I bought it (bowling ball anyone?)
* CHEAP to insure… I think I pay $205 a year to insure it via Progressive.
* I'll pay for your first year's license tag/ registration! A whopping $20 or something J
* I'll pay for the title transfer when we go to the DMV!!
She needs work if you're a single guy and still trying to attract a mate….and that's why she's for sale at $550. For us married folk, it's a cheap convertible commuter J
