Let’s Talk About SEX

You're probably wondering why, of all people and of all topics, am writing about this. I’ve been blogging for 17 days now and I noticed that a very popular topic is SEX. Somebody wrote about Soulcast being obsessed with the LOVE subject (was it GMNIman?), but I think that we have more readers if sex is the topic.

I’m sorry, this is not literotica, lest you might think otherwise, and I don’t undermine writers in that category, but I wonder what makes it click? I can understand love, as it is a universal decision and emotion, but sex?

I honestly like sex being talked about in the context of marriage. And I appreciate the honesty in SecretLife’s post about the birthday gift that she gave her husband on top of the omelet. *wink* I say, “Way to go!” for being able to enjoy the wondrous gift of matrimony. JadeLondon also mentioned about “makeup sex” being inappropriate for her husband, and it’s okay for me because it’s an open discussion about marital conflict. But in other instances, I honestly find it embarrassing for me to read such.

And since I’m clueless, would you elaborate on the seemingly universal appeal of sex? By the way, I intended this to be an intelligent discussion and to treat sex merely a subject of a sensible forum.

Haha, ahh literotica. I must admit I occasionally stumble upon the site, just to, eh...poke around. I think it's the taboo of sex, and the closed-doorness of sex that makes it such a popular topic in this sort of forum. I think a lot of people fumble around the internet looking for outlets that they can't always find in a more open forum. Which isn't so much a bad thing as it is well...interesting.

Sigroid75: I clicked on this post not so much to read about sex--but because it seemed out of the ordinary for YOU to mention it (after all, you do have a reputation to maintain). :)

I think that the taboo and forbidden combined with the relative anonymity of SoulCast make for such discussions.

I must admit, I am much more frank than I might be in person.

In fact, you may wish to retract your statement about me.

    *blush*

It was NOT graphic by any means, but I wrote a post about whether, er, make-up sex was a myth or not.

But I can see your side too. Some of my best pieces have received the least notice.

    People want the forbidden.

    *sigh*

It is an unfortunate fact of life.

funny thing: the posts i submit that are expressly sexual receive the fewest comments. just thought i should mention that.

personally, i am making it my personal mission to try to make sex a topic of conversation just like any other. why should it be bad for me to say that i really enjoy sex? what person in his or her right mind doesn't? a lot of people spend a lot of their day thinking about it. i think it's downright unhealthy not to talk about sex in the way that we so often don't.

this actually is a matter i address in an early part of my "on the nature of" series.

thanks for your inputs. :-) I really appreciate a frank
    and honest discussion.

SW: i never would have thought, your blogs on the
topic had not been very popular..quite strange...:-)

twisted: for some it is taboo...for some maybe it's
    plain fascinating?

JL: hahaha i don't have problems with your post.
lovemaking is a fact of life for couples and it would
be abnormal if you didn't have a sex life at all...
but just like secretLife, I always give her the two
thumbs up for making her husband happy.

it's just that im not very comfortable with those
that are bordering on ...u know what...but within
marriage, i say: WAY TO GO!!!:-)

I grew up catholic, and while i enjoy sex veyr much, I do find I have a terrible time talking about it...to many years of being told it was bad bad bad!

    lol! Amen to that!

Sig- I think people are curious about the intimate details of other people. Since this blogging thing is anonymous, and since sex is an important part of who I am....I choose to write about it.

Personally, I find this writing to be enlightening.

If people had a place to talk about sex, maybe it wouldn't be so taboo...

I don't mean to embarrass anyone.
I'm graphic. I'll admit to it.

Exercise caution when approaching my blogs!

I don't understand the issue here, I guess. Everyone blogs about what is of interest to them - I could care less about political blogs, so I don't read them. If a blog has sexual content and it offends you, then just don't read it.

I came to Soulcast to write about things that I would never talk about.

I did it because I wanted an outlet to talk about things, personal things. And sex is one of those personal things.

And I have to admit that I dont find my blog very popular ;)

I think I write about sex so much because I have no other outlet for it really. I'm not the good girl I once was. I feel I can be frank here at Soul Cast. I hope I don't offend anyone in the process.

When I post a fantasy/short story I always lable it as containing adult content. That way people can pass it up if it isn't their cup of tea.

I really am the bookworm type if you would meet me on the street. I'm more free here to explore my sensual side.

Sorry, can't find anything wrong in talking about sex, it's the most important pulsion of the human being, don't you agree? And what about this medieval idea that only married couple should be allowed to talk about it, or even maybe doing it? Taliban have serious problem talking about sex, and look in which situation they are, and their poor women especially. I enjoy making it, talking about it, watching it if done in tasteful way (i am talking about porno, yes....) and i didn't wait until my wedding night to start doing all the above things...in my marriage i simply put all my experience at work...
I like to know what other people think about it. Tabu' is what makes people controlled, frustrated and anxious and fill the therapist couches.
I am not professing free love in free country, but all this prudish talking about sex ONLY in a matrimony.....
I completely agree with silver....if it's done in a tasteful and intelligent way (yes, we can apply intelligence to sex, weird uh?) and not only like a way to shock other people, well sex is a topic like anything else. Just, uhnmm. more stimulating. But, ici voila, i find stimulating chocolate too. And red wine, and so on and on.
But i am open to discuss about it. And, Sigroid, kudos if you are having great sex with your spouse, though. :->

    wow!!! it's been 24 hours that i didn't have
    internet connection!!!

WOW!! thanks people, your comments ARE
very enlightening. thanks for sharing your
    thoughts here...

i assure you, i have nothing against sex. ginger, im
still single and bent on enjoying "it" when i'm married.

i am not saying that people should stop writing
or suggesting that people shop stop reading
about sex, i was just wondering what makes the
    topic so popular...

sorry, this is my last blog about sex...or at least
until i get married...haha! which i look forward to.:-)

may God's grace be with you all.:-)

i really enjoy such an exchange as we have above.
people express views and get respected for it. i
don't like debates, but i like listening to what others
have to say. so thank you, once again!:-)
