Once in a while God would make use of many situations to remind us that He is real. If He wanted to make everyone who challenges Him an example of His divinity, then there would be only one religion in the world, deprived of the free will that He gave us. That however is not His way.
Atheists and non-believers live long lives too. In fact I would believe that if stats are being analyzed, on the average, true champions of the Lord have lived much shorter lives than others, early rewards for their spiritual endeavors if you ask me. Maybe it is also God's ways of giving those who have gone astray more chances to redeem themsleves. On the other hand they could also have been under the protection of some 'other' who would want them to spread the doctrine of "un-godliness" for as long as possible.
Ultimately whether you live long or die early is of no importance really, because eventually the Creator Himself will take that life away from you. So you will still lose you life. Use it or abuse it, you will have to answer for your actions when your time comes.
God's ways are not the ways of man. Science, statistics or logic will never be able to explain Him satisfactorily, but this is exactly what He asks of us - to follow His ways without having to see the worldly logic behind it, to have not seen and yet believed. John 20:29.

The acceptance or rejection of God is dependent on man's free will. Man's rejection of or refusing to acknowledge God's existence however, doesn't give that person the right to mock and disrespect God, much less challenge His Divine Authority.
Man is but a finite creation of an infinite God. How can the creation be greater than the Creator? But if the creation will humble himself before the Creator and ask for pardon of his shortcomings (sins), the infinite God will make that humble finite person worthy of His great Love and Mercy.
