Right on, Andy Rooney !

Andy Rooney said on '60 Minutes' a few weeks back:

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING, MARTHA BURKE ?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is anopinion.

I have the right 'NOT' to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.
I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word 'freeze' or 'stop' in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.
I don't hate the rich; I don't pity the poor. I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.
I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say 'NO!'

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of 'Political Correctness.' I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be 'African-Americans'? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was fromEurope. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else. And if you don't like my point of view, tough ...

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

I was asked to send this on if I agree or delete if I don't.  It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a problem in having 'In God We Trust' on our money and having 'God' in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Why don't we just tell the 14% to  BE QUIET!!!

some of the remarks...are viciously racist and the spirit of the whole thing is nasty, mean and totally inconsistent with my philosophy of life.

rooney's a curmudgeon, not a reactionary. and that's what this ugly little character assassination piece really is: reactionaryism.

i don't know who sends you this stuff, d6, but you really should tell him/her to stop making him or herself look like a fool.

see, that's what worries me about you, d6. you just don't think this crap through.

we've had all of that crap for decades. do you seriously not get that? because that's just sad.

see, it's idiocy like this that makes me worry for all of you folks who think that this crap makes sense. that's got nothing to do with immigrants and has everything to do with classic xenophobic reactionaryism.

the mentality is that we  whites "owe" D6- that we've had white "everything" for 200 years, and now it's time to change it....  It's this idea thjat we "owe" because we've "had" that i really take offense with.  The idea goes against equality.  It says one race should have MORE chances because they've had less in the past.  It says it's ok to keep things "separate" because they've been separate all along.  It says one wrong can be "righted" by this type of behavior.

my father always told me two wrongs don't make a right.

I'm 48, and when i went to college, i was told that I "owed" blacks, hispanics and every other non-white race the free education, and that since my parents made $40K, i was "middle class" and had to pay my own way.  Then when i graduated with my student loans and tried to go to work, I was competing with EEOC--- it didn't matter what your qualifications were, only what color you were.  i lucked out i guess, because i was a woman.  But I must say that mandating the hiring of certain number of people based on race is just a sad statement about a society.

And it begs the question of When will this debt be paid off?  and How?
How much reverse unfairness does it take to call it "even"?

Then you politicize the whole thing and people are afraid of being called racist because they speak up about something they truly believe is unfair being unfair.

I'm no racist.  I'd think the same thing if it were blacks, whites, or purples.

i'm proud of my country for electing a black man as president.  i mean in my lifetime, we've come SO SO far..........far enough to elect a black man to the highest office in the country.  i may not have voted for him, and i may not agree with his party or his politics, but I am STILL able to feel pride at his accomplishment and OUR accomplishment.

But that's still not enough to put away the racist cries every time things get tough-

Just a week ago there was a cartoon (new york post) that compared the author of the latest stimulus package to a crazed monkey-  that after a week of stories in the east about a CT chimp that had to be shot after ripping off the face of a woman....al sharpton jumped on this immediately with cries of "racism" saying the post was calling obama a monkey-- and that they were being blatantly racist.

first obama wasn't the author of the stimulus package.  ok, al sharpton is a stupid ignorant ass.
2nd, the big news story that week about the chimp who went nuts was an OBVIOUS reference-
3rd- how many cartoons did we see last year that depicted GEORGE BUSH as a monkey??????  Did you hear anyone cry racist?

This double standard, special treatment mentality has to end in order for equality to ever really be able to happen.

And people HAVE to be able to disagree and quit the political correctness bullshit that got us in this place to begin with.

And let it begin with me.

Right on. That's what I was saying in that "black-ness" post. Just because you're an asshole doesn't make me a racist, just ask bloc. I think he's an asshole, but if he were black, I'd be labeled a racist. What a crock!

To me it's just slavery in reverse. Today they demonize me, tomorrow I own them. It's a complicated concept, but true nonetheless.

d6: man, you really don't get it. every network is white entertainment television, with the exception of BET. friends was one of the most successful sitcoms in recent TV history. how many non-white actors were part of that cast? hell, how often did black actors even appear as guest stars in the entire 7 year, 22 episode/year run of the show? the only example i can recall off-hand is is set in manhattan, that's sad.

d6, do you have any friends who are minorities? if you do: talk to 'em about this stuff. you'll gain an insight you presently are lacking.

javadewd: i'm sorry, but political correctness is slavery? i double dog dare you to make that same observation to someone you know that's black. go ahead and see if you aren't laughed out of the room at relativistic speeds--given your username, i am assuming you know just how fast that would be.

Actually, my black [some are even liberal, but at least they are intellectually honest] friends have referred to me as an asshole, but never a racist. Even they realize that assholes come in several different colors. I don't understand where you're coming from with your PC statement... Do tell... Now I'm curious.

Who owns who when I'm paying someone else's mortgage? Last time I looked, I didn't take in a roommate, black or white. I didn't birth any adults that I have to feed.
  • D6fer said on Mar 04, 2009....
ed.....does every show have to have black people on it? Is it not common for people to hang with people of their same race most or all of the time? I don't think that friends is a misrepresentation of that.....btw.....Ross and Joey dated a black woman one season.....I don't recall how many episodes she was on....probably 4 or 5.

The Jeffersons was a popular show....so was Sanford and son.....the Cosby show was huge!......all on "white" television....and it took an awful lot of whites to make them popular.....black athletes fill the stands with white people and are payed handsomely for it!.........your logic is beyond flawed!

btw.....my best friend is Indian.....not native-American....but Indian....yes....same thing.....here most of them are not so hung up on the pc terminology.
  • SpiritualMom said on Mar 08, 2009....
Okay I have to jump into this!! lol

D6fer, I'm with you 100%!! I am sick and tired of being expected to pay for something that was done by our ancestors way back!! We have changed the way things are over the last 40 years but as usual the more you give the more they want! Why should we have to cowtow to a black person because of something that our ancestors did to their ancestors??? Does that mean that I get to make all the blacks pay for all the whites that have been killed during drive-bys, robberies and so forth?

I have friends who are black and alot of them don't agree with this attitude that we owe them. We have done NOTHING to the blacks of today's society that we should have to make up for. So we have our own TV shows big damn deal, so do they!

Technically I have a family member that was killed by a black gang banger, so I guess that means the ones who believe we whites owe them actually owe me! Atleast it happened in this friggen century!!!!!!
  • javadewd said on Mar 08, 2009....
Better yet, let me start paying for a black person's home with my tax money. Seems like an investment to me... After 30 years or so, I own some black family's house. I guess they'll owe me... So since they can't pay it off, I'll let them work it off as an "indentured servant"... Oh, wait, isn't that just a prelude to slavery? Wait! I forgot, I'm obviously a racist, because I won't simply give a black family (much less any family regardless of color) a free house, so therefore the government is going to do it by stealing my money... But this isn't socialism... I don't understand liberal logic... My head hurts. I'm so frustrated I could start a war with some third-world country right now.
  • D6fer said on Mar 08, 2009....
amen SpiritualMom.....see the problem really is that some people just don't get it.....some actually believe this crap and others exploit the fact that they are misled and fan the flames for political power.....ironically it was a former slave and one of the greatest blacks in the history of the country that warned us of all this more than a hundred years ago.....it was none other than Booker T. Washington....he was the leader of the black movement during the transition from slavery.....funny thing is, blacks were more greatful then than they are now....astonishing!
  • SpiritualMom said on Mar 08, 2009....
I know! Isn't it funny how back when they were slaves they were grateful for everything you did for them yet now it doesnt matter how much you do or how hard you try its never enough... Have they ever been slaves? Hell no!! They have been handed the world on a silver platter yet they still expect us to pay for what was done so long ago?? How much damn sense does that make?? America is a communist country, regardless of how you slice it!! You can claim freedom if you want but the bottom line is that freedom is an illusion. You have freedom so long as you follow the rules of society, if you choose to go against what society deems as normal then your an outcast.... If you don't think thats true just look around you... Its okay to drink, you can get drunk and go drive a car and kill a carload of kids and you'll prolly not get as stiff a penalty as someone who has been caught selling pot a few times!!! And please tell me who the hell pot has ever killed??? There are people sitting in jail right now serving life sentences because they sold pot yet this country lets men (and some women) molest little kids and screw up their entire lives but only give them a few months probation??? How friggen twisted do we really need to get before something happens to change things?? And before some of you go getting up on your damn high horse over the pot reference let me remind all of you that our founding father's were pot growers/smokers!! Basically I say the world can take their PC and social rules and shove em up thier ass!! Okay I'm done for the moment lol :P
  • javadewd said on Mar 08, 2009....
Well I think to be "fair," we should execute people who molest kids or sell drugs to minors. I think that a "Judge Dredd" style, convict-on-site and one shot to the back of the head (at least for a little while, until the libs whine enough) would definitely deter crime and make it so much less glamorous than it is now. It would save precious court time and not to mention keep the prison population lower.
  • D6fer said on Mar 08, 2009....
well don't get me wrong, when I say grateful, I really mean for simply having what we have here in this country......no one should have ever been a slave, but it is what it is and our forefathers put an end to it....I don't think that anyone should be grateful for the act of ending slavery....that was the right thing to do.
  • SpiritualMom said on Mar 08, 2009....
I think that may have come across wrong, I don't expect them to be thankful or grateful either. But as you said it was our forefathers who ended it. I'm just tired of having to pay for what some of our other forefathers did, same as you.. :)

Personally I think that if anyone has a right to be angry with us its the Indians (Native Americans) they are the ones who we took everything from. And we still do. Our forefathers came here and took away their land and their way of life. They were a free roaming civilization who was forced to live on reservations where they could hardly survive. But do you ever hear them complaining? I guess thats what bothers me the most about some black people.

In America today they have all the advantage. In Africa they have nothing in many parts. They are fighting wars. Would the African Americans who are so mistreated here like to go back to the land of their ancestors? The same places as their ancestors, the wars and the famines, disease and abject poverty.. They are no longer impoverished, no more than any other race in the US. We just hear about theirs more. Its time to stop this nonsense and move forward. This world would be a much better place if we could!
  • javadewd said on Mar 08, 2009....
I've said before that we should gladly give any African American the right to relinquish their American citizenship and return to Africa for the one-way trip over there. They would have to sign away any rights or privileges that came with American citizenship including welfare, unemployment, scholarships, health care, outstanding or forthcoming lawsuits and so forth. There were never any takers for that idea, though... Even when the deal was sweetened with about US$3,000 per person exported. The black community deemed it some sort of "reverse slavery" or an insufficient "buy off," which wasn't understandable, considering the US was going to give them what they were asking. They ask like the Palestinians... No matter how much you offer them, it's never enough to satisfy them.
