When you provide corporate welfare to credit card companies, stock market trading companies, nationalize automobile makers and other credit companies, that's Socialism 101.

When you control populations by giving international support to abortions, providing third-world countries condoms and give genocide a blind eye, that's Socialism 201.

When you cap salaries of CEOs, that's Socialism 301.

When you starting giving money away to banks in order to nationalize them, attach strings to federal money going to states and otherwise control your nation through federal monetary control, well, that's just plain Socialism. Congratulations!

Last time I looked, the United States isn't Russia. (This isn't Russia, right?) We don't live in a Communist society where everybody gets the same house, the same car, the same education, the same income and the same job (based on a stupid written test that determines your inner talent), but some people out there -- who don't have what they feel is "fair" -- seem to think that we all should.

Sadly, they are the people that were brought into power last November. How many of you are now kicking your own ass right about now? Not me, my friends, I didn't vote for this guy. Sure, you can chastise me all you want for voting for McCain (I have a soft spot in my heart for red-headed soccer moms who shoot things with rifles and wear glasses), but I saw this coming a mile away... Socialism. I didn't need some blow-hard talk show host like Sean Hannity to tell me we were heading that direction.

All of you so-called Conservatives who decided to screw the rest of us should be lined up first for treason. Sure, Bush made plenty of mistakes, but he believed in this country and he knew that Americans were the most resilient people in the free world. The people who sit in the White House hate this country, and subsequently, they hate you too. They think you're a bunch of idiots, and their chronies say so on the news all the time. You so-call Conservatives who voted for a progressive leader are traitors to this country, and you will get what you deserve through the twisted version of "fairness" that your elected President will now give you.

In the meantime, I am beside myself as to how this country has just sat back and took these past 30 or so days. For one, I haven't heard one harsh word out of the black community (short of now they think we compare our beloved dictator to a rabid monkey). I would have thought that the NAACP and the Black Panthers would have both been out of a job now, but so far that just isn't so... I would have thought that every white person on American soil would have been labelled a skin-head or a KKK member, but not so much. To make matters worse, as our media seems to want to do nothing more than hump Obama's leg, the American people are just now getting fed up with the idea of "fairness." Yes, by doubling-down on households that were under water with their mortgage already, those of us who actually pay our bills are more than just a little pissed at the moment. Special thanks to Rick Santelli for the shot across the bow...

That's all I've got right now. Until tomorrow...

I have to disagree with you on almost every point.

"When you provide corporate welfare to credit card companies, stock market trading companies, nationalize automobile makers and other credit companies, that's Socialism 101."

Actually, it's more like fascism than socialism.

"When you control populations by giving international support to abortions, providing third-world countries condoms and give genocide a blind eye, that's Socialism 201."

    This doesn't make any sense.

"When you cap salaries of CEOs, that's Socialism 301."

No it's not. First, we didn't cap salaries of CEOs. We capped salaries of CEOs that take tax payer money to stay in business. That's a perfectly reasonable demand and had nothing to do with socialism.

"When you starting giving money away to banks in order to nationalize them, attach strings to federal money going to states and otherwise control your nation through federal monetary control, well, that's just plain Socialism. Congratulations!"

This doesn't make much sense either and it's all over the map. First, federal monetary control has nothing to do with socialism. Who else should control money if the federal government doesn't? Attaching money you give to someone isn't socialism either.

At this point I stopped reading your post.

I stopped reading the link we it equated nafta with communism.

And that's how the ignorant stay ignorant... They "stop reading."

It's called not wasting my time. Anyone that thinks NAFTA is communism has no idea what they're talking about.
  • bloc said on Mar 05, 2009....
I made a simple claim, that NAFTA is not the same as communism. If it were then most republicans are communists. Instead of having an honest debate over this you resort to childishness. Sad really.

For a software engineer, you don't seem very smart. Your smug punk ass doesn't have a clue.

NAFTA opened the door to a no-holds-barred global trade economy. It has caused most of our jobs to be shipped overseas, our exports to shrink and our imports to rise to dangerous levels. America has become nothing more than a 'services' exporter, leaving most of our goods -- like automobiles -- sitting on our shelves unsold. Most tech jobs -- including software engineers and tech support -- are imported from India now or simply routed there. Most of our manufacturing of non-durable goods has gone to Mexico or China. Companies like "US Steel" are owned by the Japanese, while still based in the US, and still revered as the top steel producer in the world. That more than backs up the point of the author's statement "The goal of GATT and NAFTA is to erase national borders through economic manipulation. Sounds sort of like world communism to me." So if that's where you "stopped reading the link" then you didn't even get to the explanation, and that's totally intellectually dishonest. To suggest that you actually take the time to read the rest of the article, your refusal does nothing more than reinforce your ignorance.

So, in conclusion, If you're going to simply plop one-liners that have no substance, why don't you go hump somebody else's leg.

I'm not disagreeing with what you said about NAFTA, but NAFTA is not communism. It's a distortion of capitalism. Your personal attacks do your arguments no justice and will turn off everyone from hearing your points.

Btw, truly free markets are about erasing boarders, that's what free means. That capital and labor can move freely, even across boarders. NAFTA is a move towards that vision of capitalism, and is clearly not communism in anyway. Don't get me wrong, communism is a fundamentally flawed vision, but so is the idea of absolutely free markets.

The "North America Free Trade Agreement" sounds pretty benign, just like the "Fairness Act," but NAFTA didn't have the desired effect that everybody thought it would. They thought it would allow exactly what you're talking about: free trade across borders, democracy and free-market principles in countries that were not as "well off" as ours, but instead it had much of the opposite effect. Imports rose, while exports tanked, which slowly over the past decade or so have turned the US into a service economy. Sure, we still export more food than any other country and many natural resources are exported as well, but the manufacturing of raw materials happen elsewhere.

You may say, well what the hell does that have to do with Communism or Socialism? Well, if I had more time tonight I'd write it out here. I'll be back tomorrow, though. Capitalism in action...
