So, going along with my "stupid things in the news" theme...
There was a story about certain members of the Montreal Canadiens (hockey team if you didn't know) who are in a little hot water for hanging out with drug dealers. They're not actually involved in drugs, not in trouble themselves, just hanging out with the wrong crowd and according to one person they interviewed, needed to be "warned to be more careful about how they pick their friends."
This started a conversation between DH and I. Something along the lines of how professional hockey players needing to be told how to pick their friends does not help any stereotypes about the sport.
Well, no. What we actually said was more along the lines of...
Me: "Well I guess when you've had a few too many checks into the boards you need to be told that sort of thing again...Actually I guess to be a professional hockey player, to be willing to take that kind of punishment, you maybe have to be a little bit "duurrr" to begin with."
Him: "I can imagine that, as a hockey player, you need certain physical attributes, and given the rules of stat distribution..."
And that's why I love my husband :D
(if you're confused at this point...in a pencil-and-paper RPG game such as Dungeons and Dragons, when you create a character to play as, you're given a limited number of points to create the statistics of your character. You can distribute these stat points into attributes like strength, intelligence, dexterity, etc. that will determine your character's strengths and weaknesses in the game. Because the points are limited, usually if you max out one attribute, like strength, you won't have a lot of points left over for, say, intelligence.)
