What do I have to do to get your attention?
That's how I feel in Los Angeles - a town where appearances are everything and standouts are few and far between. I'm just an artsy little film student, studing directing and screenwriting at Biola University in Southern California. How is a studio executive going to notice me? Well, guess what? You get to join me on this little ride. Ironically, as I continue my quest to rise above the mediocrity plaguing the entertainment industry, you get to follow me through the ultimate of fads - a blog.
As this is my first post, let me give you ultra-lowdown on what to expect from this indie dreamer:
Let's do a quick personality dissect. Here's the Cliff notes version of me: I am 19 years old, 20 come August, just completed my sophomore year at Biola University, a private film school in Orange County. I have two years to find my path in the entertainment industry before I graduate and am left without a job and forced to navigate the intimidating grounds of human resources departments.
Now, why would you care what I have to say?
I absolutely detest blogs where people give a detailed breakdown of their daily schedule. That's not me. My journey is going to be interesting and should be celebrity-filled and adventerous in the coming months, if that's your cup of tea. I'm also a young guy attending a private Christian college (yes, Christian), and so you know I'll be learning life lessons and all that good stuff along the way. I am more than happy to share these little anecdotes about my experiences with you, because…well, you know you love to get the dirt on someone else's life. But I'll do it in a short-paragraphed, unobtrusive way. You're not going to have to endure a description of what I did on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
What I am all about is living life indie style and that means living life half-in, half-out of popular culture. I love the arts. I love everything about them. And I also love to stay up on what's happening in this crazy world we live in. So, you will be getting a varied barrage of what I consider to be hot and cool in the world. That may include the same crazy stuff everyone else is listening too (Nelly Furtado's Promiscuous comes to mind; I dig that song!), but you'll also find some awesome bands, books, and flicks that no one has grown to appreciate. And maybe, with my guiding hand (just kidding), you'll grow to appreciate them, too. Anyway, I want you to rock this life with me, complete with the visuals and the audio companions of cool to go with it. This life is an adventure and it only gets better as you go along.
