A few people have asked for more pictures of the reno project so here is one.  It's in the main floor bathroom and it's the only corner of this project that is actually complete.  The wash stand and mirror frame are original antiques that have been refurbished/refinished.  For those who like antiques the little pitcher was the cream pitcher in a set that belonged to my grandmother and came to Canada from Norway in 1912.

Simply beautiful Botty. That sink is to die for!
  • botoni said on Feb 15, 2009....
Thank you Woman. I'm trying to figure a way to use the sink as a punch bowl when we throw a house warming party. You suppose people would find that gross? When the three foot deep bathtub on the opposite wall is actually completed I'm thinking it could be filled with ice for soft drinks and wine.

3 foot bathtub?? I'm thinking it could be filled with ME!! Door locked of course...
  • botoni said on Feb 15, 2009....
As yet that little room only has a sheet hanging on it as a makeshift door. You know anyway to lock a sheet? Or do you want to hold off until there's a real door. At the rate things go around here it may be awhile.
  • woman said on Feb 15, 2009....
noooo, I'll wait. A sheet wouldn't do it for me. Let me know when it's done? 3 foot tub???? That's crazy!
  • mobil said on Feb 15, 2009....
I can't tell for sure, is that blue and gold basin a sink? and the thing along side a faucet? It looks like that's the case botoni, but I can't be sure from looking?

You've been on this project a long time now, I'd bet it's great to see the fruits of your labor finally end in a finished product.
  • botoni said on Feb 15, 2009....

Woman.....It's a two person jaffuzzler that's three feet deep.  I believe the Japanese call them an Orofu tub.  Great for relaxing and baptisms, whichever is important at the time.

Mobil.....You're right its a sink and a waterfall faucet.  I'll try to add a close up so it's more identifiable.  You're also right about it being great to see that this project may actually end.

I lurrrrv it, botoni! I have to catch up on your blogs :( so sorry, life has been topsy turvy...

I love antiques...I dreamt of having a grandfather´s clock since I was a little girl, and  my husband gave me one for my 22nd birthday..it is from the 1920´s.

I have great fondness for dark wood.

Waiting excitedly for the grand tour when all has been finished :)

    Warmest regards, always,

Paper!  So good to see you.  I need to be catching up on your blog too.  I'll get there soon.

Here's a close up of the sink and faucet.  If you look closely you can see the water running.

  • Zayda said on Feb 15, 2009....
The sink is beautiful Botty. And I love the antique wash stand.
Say, do you want to come pick out the new fixtures for our new house???!
  • botoni said on Feb 15, 2009....
Thank you Zee....I love fixture picking. I'll check for flights.
  • botoni said on Feb 15, 2009....
Ginger.....I always spell that oforu/orofu tub thing wrong! Not to worry, we are men of honor here. We wont violet the 'sheet door'! Glad you like it.
Queenie....Thank you....wait till you see the next one.
    Pickers....Glad it pleases you.
Hegie.....It's been a blast.....and it's the first time in my life I've had control so it's never to late.
Quiet....I figured you would enjoy it.
Uni....The next one to be installed is gonna be even more interesting.
Lucy....That's the spirit! A good soak is way more important than a bit of modesty.
Mobil.....It's true, I cant please all the people all the time. That toothbrush holder has seen many duties over the years.
  • CreativeWoman said on Feb 15, 2009....

It's quite a project but it looks like you've made quite the progress.  Great job!  I'm very impressed!

You have very nice taste, too.  That sink is very tasty.  :)

3 ft bathtub?  Careful not to drown in it, ok?
  • botoni said on Feb 16, 2009....
Thank you CW. I kind of like it myself.
Diabolic.....If you like color wait till you see some of the paint job that'll happen in the next few weeks.
Grape.....I've always said there is nothing like a tasty sink! :)....I'll be sure to keep my head above water. Thanks bud.
