Well......it has been pretty scary....but it's over now.
The tornado warning issued for my county at 9pm has finally expired.
How bad it has been this time ? (we are pretty used to this kind of stuff, after all)
I give you the exact dimension of it.......my ex husband called me to warn me.
And he called THREE times!
I mean, we are talking about beating any record ever..
He was really concerned too....to the point that he was giving me suggestions about where to go and not to go...dont stay too close to the windows, ok?
Ok, i will not..
Stay in the smallest area of the home, ok? A closet? The laundry room?
Ok, we will.
He asked if we had a torch, stuff like that. I hadn't hear this concern in his voice by ages....
I told him we were going to run in the laundry room in case the tornado was to touch ground over our heads. The possibility has been pretty realistic, to be honest. At 9:10 the tv was telling that the fierce wind had created three rotations and two had touched ground only 15 miles from my home!.
Immediately my daughter had started to pack everything in the laundry room....i mean, blankets, pillows, her school bag, her make up bag, shoes, the bible (sic) and was starting to pull even the dog inside.
"Leave him alone for now, poor dog, he is scared enough"
The dog looked at me and run away behind the couch, panting and trembling.
Then she started to text messaging all over Texas apparently...and from all over Texas her friends were texting her back....call it being the most popular girl at school sigh...
.
She was reading the texts to me. Some were hilarious.
"I so freaking like tornado" - Alyson wrote.
"Let the wind blow us down, people" - Preston said
Another one was telling her to take care, another one reminded her to grab her blow dryer (wth?)...Ashley said "Jesus will protect us". Oh well, we are fine then.
I was listening on tv the news about so many people stranded, trees crashed over cars and homes, heavy rain, and i was thinking...what about the animals in the open field? Will they blow away in the air?
What about the homeless? Where do they will find cover?
I even thought about other fellow Scasters living in Texas like me....BeyBey, M&M, LadyGamer, Margaret .....
And i thought....will the tornado make me fly home? Just like Dorothy?
I grabbed my purse and i stuffed it with personal documents, our passports, my wallets....i dont know what else...i wanted to put there all my photos, all my cds, all my books, all my life...
A tornado can make you isterical, you know?....
But naturally i didn't.....i only grabbed the torch and me and my daughter sat in front of the tv watching the heavy storm passing by.....lines of yellow, orange, purple and blue were gracioulsy tracing waves on the screen..
When our area changed from red to green ....it was over .
Then my ex called again....are you guys ok? Yes, we are, Thank for worrying about us. Oh, its ok, he mumbled and in the background his wife was talking loudly....just in case....:-)
My daughter said she wants to sleep in the laundry room anyway.....she said it reminds her of her Girl Scout weather emergency tests...
No way...to bed, missy.
And damned the tornado again....
