One of the things I'm going to do with Uni is take her to a place called the Habitat.  Here (mobil you better remember this) we will feed kangaroos, wallabies (wablies) see crocs, the Jabiru (a bird) a tree kangaroo, koalas (might get Uni to cuddle one for a photo)

Then we'll go out to a restaurant and see if we can't try the following;

Roo burger....... as in Skippy! look over there... jump in the hot plate skippy!

Croc steak.........

Green ant smoked coral trout.......................

Chilli and soursop icecream.....................

PawPaw and raw tuna salad (raw, not even remotely near a hot plate)

Squid ink spaghetti................................

Snake.......................................

Raw nut (from the rainforest) and brim soup................................

Daintree Tea smoked snapper wrapped in banana leaf................................

Palm heart sour salad............................ from palm trees................

Coconut chilli coral trout salad.......................... raw..............................

Anyone got any other ideas??? I won't go so far as eating a koala but a goanna isn't out of the question.

I'd tell you to get her to hug a quoll, but if anybody's going to be hugging one of those, it'll be me.  ;)  (sorry, there is a double meaning there, but my lips are zipped.)

quoll? ohh god I have to find out about that Missmims....

If she hugs a koala I will make sure she has a towel on her as they piss everywhere and it stinks... don't want Uni smelling like fowl koala matter...

Ah I think not Lucy. It is such a very long flight. I don't think I would manage well for that long. It is only about 6 1/2 hours to Guatemla. I flew to Hawaii 4 years ago and it was about 12 hours. I swore I would never be on a plane for that amount of time again. Didn't I send you some photos of Guate? I will if I didn't.

Wow .... I can tell you that at least half of that list, I don't know if I could be brave enough to try, lol.  I wonder what Uni will think of this list!
  • Lucytorial said on Feb 11, 2009....
woman you did, but not enough! I have a ravenous appetite for all things I don't know, which is quite a lot.. that I don't know if you get my meaning...

Hege... Uni would prolly keel over I'm sure but there are a few things I will force feed her just so she has bragging rights... definitely Roo and Croc.

    paper ~ WOOT?
  • Hegemone said on Feb 11, 2009....
Yeah see the croc I could probably handle trying ... the roo ... well, I dunno if I could get the image of one out of my head long enough to stop feeling guilty, lol.   I'd be thinking of some cute little guy with bright flashy eyes making a pouty face at me.  And no, I'm not a vegetarian, I know it'd be the same difference to eating a cow or chicken or pig, but over here in the States ... Roo, as a food, is not a common thing, lol.

Interesting post. I hope that you are very, very far from the fire! I pray for the families that lived. Was this an arsonist?

I've had gator meat and it's quite delicious with it's own flavor.  I've had African Antelope...don't know what kind but it was as big as a horse and tasted gamy but good enough for me.  I've even had horse meat....they make sausage from it in South America.  Frogs legs I finally had  a year or two ago and I've bought American Buffalo meat...ground up....and made hamburgers out of it and it was quite good.   But I've never had Kangaroo before and I'd love to try it some day.
Let me know the next time you fire up your BBQ then would ya? Save a Roo burger for me.   :^)

Ps: I hope the fires in Australia are nowhere near your neck of the woods.
