I'm keenly aware of the performance problems plaguing the site right now. As some of you may have noticed already; I've removed the 'most viewed' sorting option from the home page and tag pages. This was the worst offender, now that it's gone I'm going to keep an eye out for other issues.

Lately I've been plagued by lag big time. So much so that a couple of times this week I've just signed out and surfed the net instead. I don't mind the inability to correct any comment but the lag is horrible.
Thanks for your efforts and hope you get the time to fix it soon without too much of a hassle.

d6, the vidoes don't affect it because they are served by other sites like youtube. Same with images.

Oh yes, it's me again. I was curious to know and it might come as no surprise to you, about an editing ability. Occasionally I make a tiny weeny little error that slips into my text and it bugs the hell out of me. I'm not obsessive about it I hasten to add but it does keep me awake at night. The loss of sleep causes me to make still more errors and that acerbates the situation until barely anything I type is correct. I took unusual steps to avoid them this time because I knew you would be reading it and I do tend to grovel to important people such as yourself. LOL.... (I do)...
What was I asking again? Oh yes. Editing? I hear it used to be a feature but was removed. I beg you..... please.... PLEASE bring it back. I can't stand the errors in my text. The content is bad enough without all the typos. Is there any chance for the return of the... you know...... please.... don't make me beg. PLEASE!!!! I need my sleep!!!

i think dumping anons would be a fine thing. we wouldn't be able to play the anon game anymore, which can be allot of fun, but everything comes at a price, i can live without that in order to have a screen name attached to an account. hey, what about dumping screen names that haven't been active in say a year, wouldn't that save on server space for you? -

Who cares about anon? Only people who let themselves be annoyed by them....ergo....
We all know that there is a weapon againts anons....its called IGNORE but people rarely use it.....oh, and what about DELETE COMMENT?......;-).
My first thing would be getting rid of spamming. Plus, they use only anon mode......so......we will get rid of tons of stuff at the same time....

Ginger, if you're having problems not seeing the You Tube videos showing up here, you need to clear out your cache and your cookies. I've had that happen a few times and it's not an issue with this website. I can see videos just fine. But when they do disappear, I have to empty my cache and my cookies, and it fixes the problem. So try that and see if that helps.
PS: Thanks Soulcast for working on the speed issues and the spammers. I've found that while a lot of spammers use anonymous to comment, if you have anonymous blocked (like I do) they'll just comment anyway with one of their many user names. So I'm not sure if getting rid of anon comments will matter that much. Just my opinion....

The reason anon is a problem is that it truly is anonymous. I have no idea which account posted it. If someone posts spam with their account name then I can delete the whole account with one click (which will delete all spam with one click). -

well that makes sense, if its a choice between commenting anon (which I don't and most don't) and you getting rid of spam I say get rid of the button. Its going to make your life easier and easier for us to notify you of spammers. -

I like the anon comments. It allows more free expression. Perhaps I normally comment with my screen name but there is a subject I don't want to associate with my account name because it is too personal. I may want to comment anon on that specific post but not other ones. Keep the anon comments. -

spam sperm its all a matter of opinion Pieter...Check out the SC terms and conditions. Essentially spamming here is where a business/username begins to graffitti anon on others posts, it hasn't been happening as much lately and I usually block the offending amoeba and then report it to sc.They sell their wares on our posts not on their own. it makes them hard to find and delete. -

Gingery...re: youtube videos...I think it has something to do with the browser too. I have 4 browsers, and I favor Flock but it is not stable. I seldom use IE, and lots of people adviced me to use Mozilla ..but it is as unstable as Flock... Although I still use Flock, if I want to edit something, and I would like to see the format I try the other browsers. For example, I could not see your second youtube (the first is still there, and I saw all others) on my blog in Flock, so I tried Safari. I learned about this from quiet´s comment on mom´s blog, when she could not view a picture slide...it seems changing browsers helped!
I hope Kyle´s suggestion will help you out because mine is a tad complicated! lol
