Light Golden Brown...

light golden brown

Is the color my hair was supposed to be after I colored it this evening.  I think it's golden brown, but definitely not light.  I've posted a picture if you want to see.

I've been reading this book, Staging Your Comeback by Christopher Hopkins.  He speaks of how women in their 40's can find ways to look younger.  I've been trying different shades of lipstick and even got a new haircut today.  Then I thought I would go for broke and color my hair darker.  I have been a golden blond for ages.  I thought that light golden brown would just take me a shade or two darker.  Well, it's a lot darker.

My skin complexion is fair and I have green eyes.  Do you think I've gone too dark?

    I don't think it's too dark, CDub.  Live with it for a while and then see what you think.  I've never colored my hair so I don't know how long the color lasts.  Can you lighten it if you want?
     
    I'm very curious to know if your husband noticed.

    It will probably lighten some.  My hair always does any other time. 

    My husband hasn't seen me yet.  I wonder if he'll say anything too.  He's late getting home.

    I think it looks nice CW. And you are right , it will probably lighten. Your 40's are a wonderful age. If you were here I would take you shopping and for a manicure etc. Try and enjoy this age and have fun. Sounds like you are getting into it with the hair color and makeup. I thought I was going to see a picture of you here so I am leaving a little disappointed...

    cw i know you are fair, the picture shows perhaps a little too brown but that could be the picture .if you showed us a picture of your new hair color with natural lighting we would better be able to see,though i'm sure you look nice.i hope there are nice comments for you. blue.

    I really like the color. I'm sure it looks great on you. Just remember, everything takes a little time to get used to, and yes... it will in fact lighten/fade with time. Enjoy the new look :-)

    I'm sorry I disappointed you by not showing my face.  I wasn't that brave.  lol.  Maybe someday.  My sister loved my hair but my husband hates it.  He liked the blonder tone better.  It would be fun to go shopping with you.

    The photo is kind of dark now that I look at it again this morning.  The color is much darker than I wanted to begin with.  Thanks.

    It is true you know, that changing your hair colour, making a style change and lipstick colour change can make a huge difference.

    I went from red lipstick and fire engine red hair to auburn hair and nude lipstick, it seems to work for me in my mid 30's.

    You just keep growing into yourself more and more, I like seeing it, honestly it makes me hopeful that my future is going to be one of many many ideas.

    This book I'm reading suggests that a woman over 40 should never wear bright lipstick.  So, I've traded my deep and/or brighter pinks and reds for more subdued shades of chestnut and then a Kahlua and cream.  I think it looks better with my darker hair. 

    I always want to be evolving.  You can't stop the aging process, but you can do it with class.  :-)  Besides, it's fun to try new things.

    CW, with green eyes, I think that hair color will look beautiful on you.  I like the hair color anyway, and then when you said green eyes, fair complexion ... you'll be a very striking lady!

    That was my thought exactly.  It wasn't "light" at all.  It went darker than I anticipated.  Thank you, though.

    I sure had a wild hair!  But, I will say that it feels good to make a little jump out of the box sometimes.  It's growing on me.  Thanks. 

    Go for it, it you want a little change.  Hair always grows back and you can always change your color back if you don't like it.  :-)

    i colored my hair....trying to get it the same shade.....covering the white hairs that refuse to stop growing.
     
    it went a couple shades lighter.....and i'm not terribly happy. *shrug*
    oh well......
     
    yours doesn't look very dark...but i don't know how light it was before.....so hmmmm..... i'm sure i'm just comparing to myself...i naturally have dark chestnut brown hair.

    It has grown on me since Friday.  :-)  I've gotten a lot of compliments on my new look so I guess I'll keep it for a while.  My hair was a golden blond when I started out.  It went darker than I anticipated.
