Yesterday was a doctor day.  I went back for my cholesterol follow up.  I was shocked at how well that turned out.  It dropped nearly 120 points in six weeks.

I wrote about that at my diabetic blog already this morning.

My Cholesterol Test Results Are In

The doctor was very pleased with me.  I took my health journal and he looked at all my blood sugar readings over the past six weeks and said that I am on a roll with several "non-diabetic" readings.  He said he considers that to be anything under 115.

Today is kind of a catch up day for me.  I need to do some laundry and have been working on the writing I wanted to do.  I can do posts ahead of time for my diabetic blog and I would like to get ahead on that instead of always behind.  My readership is building there and I want to keep it strong.

It's cold outside.  Brrrrr kind of cold.  I think it was 9 the last time I looked.  We are missing the ice and snow this time.  I am so thankful for that. My heart goes out to any SoulCasters dealing with that nasty weather out there.  We had an ice storm here last winter and being without power in the sub zero temps is terrible.

I think I saw my father-in-law out there this morning.  That just sends my mood south.  Sigh... I hate having here for lunch.  I know that's petty.

If I get myself in gear, I may also try to get those books on eBay that I want to sell.  I really do need to do some decluttering in here.

I need more hours in the day and the energy to go with them.

How's your day going?

I have a lot of things I could, and should, be doing, but here I sit.  It's snowing here, with 6-10 more inches of the stuff to come.  Blah.

That's so great about the doctor visit.  I know how nervous they make you.  You're doing something right, kiddo, with all those good numbers.  :)

    Mimi,
I'm not crazy about snow at all either.  I guess if I had to choose, the snow would be better than the ice.

Thanks about the doctor.  It does make me nervous to go, but I'm kind of getting over that.  This doctor could have been a stand up comedian.   There was a baby crying loudly before he came in my exam room.  He asked me if I hear her.  Then he smiled and said, "You're next."  It was funny.

I'm trying really hard to be on top of the beast.

I'm glad you found a doctor you're comfortable with.  It makes all the difference in the world.  I really like my primary doctor, but my pulmonologist, not so much.  Seems like every time I see him, I end up in the hospital.  No, not really, but for some reason, I have a mental block about it.

    Mimi,
It does make a big difference.  My first family doctor just didn't build any trust with me.  I sometimes wonder if my toe situation would have had a better outcome with the doctor I have now.  I do understand the dread.

    Mimi,
It's been very slow.  I'm glad it's not just me.  It's taking forever today.  It makes it less fun to comment.

Hi CW, great news!  You are doing such a good job.
My day hasn't been the greatest.  We have been steadily losing kids at my preschool job due to the parents losing jobs.  We've lost 8 kids so far.  Today, a mom came in and said she was going to have to pull her daughter because her husband's work hours have been cut so much.  They just can't afford it any more.  It was horrible.  She was crying, I was crying.  Of all the kids, I've had that little girl the longest.  Just a sour day.

    fearing,
    Thank you.

I'm sorry your day was sour.  That sounds heart wrenching.

Well CW, I'm glad that you are avoiding the weather.  We got it full force.  About 4 inches of sleet and snow on the ground right now.  No trees cracking and popping yet, so that's a good sign.  My husband just came in from a 12 hour shift of snow removal and he confirmed that all the roads in our area are complete shit.  I'm ready for spring time!
  • CreativeWoman said on Jan 27, 2009....
    Hegemone,
Wow!  4 inches of sleet sounds terrible.  I hope your power stays on.  We lost a lot of tree limbs last year during our ice storm and were without power for 6 days.  I sure hope you don't go through that.

    I'm ready for spring too!

CW, we got lucky and were on the other side of the transformer that blew out last year.  Although we did lose LOTS of tree branches and even a few whole trees.  I was actually 2 feet away in my dad's car from the top of one of them that came down.  I will not lie, I almost shit myself.  I mean, what else can you do if you see a tree falling at you and you're stuck in a car?!  So far the "adults" (the older ones anyway, lol ... the ones whom opinions on these matters I trust) are not worried so I'm not worried.  Stay warm!
  • CreativeWoman said on Jan 27, 2009....
    Hegemone,
That would have been scary to have a tree top fall that close to you.  I'm glad you were ok.  The "old timers" usually know what they are talking about.  They've lived it.  You stay warm too.  :-)

yup went to my Dr. today too and got a good report from my tests also.  my blood sugar down to 6.6 and my good cholesterol is up and the bad was down some.  He was happy and so was I.  Only thing is...... we are not missing the snow storm.. its gonna drop about 16" on us.  eesh!
