Abu Sufyan al-Azdi al-Shahri and Abu al-Hareth Muhammad al-Oufi prisoners 372 and 333 showed up right back in the business of terrorism. This is bad for everyone but it also highlights the level of importance this issue has and how dangerous it is to put propaganda about torture and abuse out.
Right now in the detainee argument how many times have you heard: "I just want to go back to my country and my family." Here is a quote from a New York Post article:
"Al-Shihri, however, said he traveled to Iran to buy carpets for his store in Riyadh. He said he felt bin Laden had no business representing Islam, denied any links to terrorism and expressed interest in rejoining his family in Saudi Arabia."
He was sent to Saudi Arabia and the Saudis eventually released him and now he has been given a senior position in Al Qaeda leadership in Yemen. Did it take him long? Do normal people who have been subjected to "harsh terrible conditions" and "torture" and "severe isolation" go out and publicly announce they're right back in the game? I wonder if he visited his family before he made the video for the website.
