Of course why would the media report the truth?  President Obama signed an executive order ordering the infamous Gitmo facility closed.  The media hails this as a break from Bush policies and a final stain of America wiped away.

Judge Andrew Napolitano a Fox news analyst said this was the right move because our values and ideals are to be applied to everyone, not just American citizens.  Napolitano claims (without even so much as a shred of substantiated evidence) that people were tortured in Gitmo.  No-one was tortured in Gitmo, believe me I know.

First of all the executive order doesn't close Gitmo.  It states it will be closed in a year.  Which means President Obama is just playing politics to get the headlines.  During the campaign it was a staple of his speeches when talking to crowds about Gitmo that it would be immediately closed because it harmed our reputation and supposed standing in the world.  So I guess it doesn't harm much more if it is going to be left open for another year.  And what the hell about before Gitmo?  Before George W.?  Was our reputation with radical Muslims around the world hunky doory before?  NO!  Do these people remember the two World Trade Center bombings and the USS Cole?

The truth is Gitmo is an important tool in fighting terrorism around the world and President Obama knows this.  He is just getting his cronies in the media to help pay back favors to his far left base.  He isn't going to close Gitmo unless there is some miracle victory or logical place to put captured terrorists.  His press Secretary claims this would make America and our military personnel safer.  What?  How stupid is this.  So Mr. Al Qaeda captures and American soldier and when is about to drill a holes into kneecaps he sees President Obama is closing Gitmo and says, "ya know, since Mr. Obama has closed Gitmo then we must show solidarity and not torture people."  How are normal people hearing this and not freaking out?

Napolitano's claim that our rights and ideals apply to everyone is just about the stupidest thing anyone has ever said.  These people we are capturing want to turn the world into an extremist Theocracy.  They look at our Constitution and our way of life as a threat and something that should be mocked and destroyed.  These cockroaches deserve to be thrown into a dark hole until someone decides the date they will be tried and hopefully put to death.  Napolitano needs to watch "Children of Beslan" in which Muslim terrorists just decided to slaughter a bunch of children before making them drink urine.

Judge, these people are not human so they deserve no human rights, period!  What I would like to know is since President Obama is just continuing the same old Bush policies where is the media?  Where is code pink?  Where is Michael Moore?  I heard a Liberal once say the President was "tearing up the Constitution" in regards to Gitmo.  Now suddenly we have a Liberal President and all we hear is "President Obama to close Gitmo reversing Bush policies!"  Which is just not true.  Is this what we are up against in the next four years, a bunch of bull?

Got bored halfway through.  Closed in one year (if accomplished) is pretty much immediate.  Surely you didn't expect them to just open all the doors leave a bunch of boats and walk away did you?

    Stupid SC, cut me off.

I mean hell he's even going to try them all and with any luck get some convictions.

  • stopmediabias said on Jan 25, 2009....
I don't think he'll close it, I think this is just a political move, I could be wrong.  One would think opening the doors and leaving a bunch of boats would be crazy but look what they did in Vietnam and what do you think the ACLU wants to do?
  • SeanRenaud said on Jan 25, 2009....

Who cares what the ACLU wants to do.  Granted I wasn't around for 'Nam to remember it I've seen the pictures but I don't get the impression that we just decided on a tuesday  that we were leaving and left.

I don't think he'll close it either, but it's early to be calling bullshit on him.

Well said, I just wish he would say something like "I want to close it also but the reality is we still have people there that are a threat to world that we must deal with."  Not this "stain on our country" bullshit.
  • SeanRenaud said on Jan 26, 2009....
It is a stain on our country though.  I will forever say that one of Bush's biggest mistakes was being honest.  Everybody in the United States, EVERYBODY knows that the the FBI has your DNA and fingerprints on file and has been spying on your phone calls since you were six years old.  They randomly ping cell phones to train agents on how to track people and we've all known it.  Bush for whatever reason thought it was the right thing to do to come out and say "we're spying on you" its one of those things that you were never meant to say outloud.

Sean focus you are starting to drift off.

Everyone says Gitmo was a terrible idea yet we have to keep it open for another year.  Plus what is your solution?  I can assume you must have a better idea as to  what we do with captured terrorists.
