D6 has ordered more posts so here goes............

Since fall I've been on a self improvement binge.  Forty pounds have drifted off my body.  A size 52 pant that was snug has been replaced by a size 46 that is roomy.  Feels great.  How?  Weight Watchers!  I love the program, love the food and I'm having great fun entertaining my friends with food that THEY enjoy while I stay on program.  It's a bit expensive but it's well worth the money in my opinion.  Will it work for you?   I'm sure I dont know.  It will if you want it to but I expect lots of other weight loss systems will do the trick.  It's a matter of finding the one that you connects for you.  I do know that I feel great.

About the same time I decided it was time to give up the smokes.  One and a half Canadian packs a day (about 40 smokes a day) is a pricey habit and a darned unhealthy one.  I'm a wimp.  I've tried several dozen methods.  The most irritating part are the friends who have quit cold turkey.  Yargh....I've enough will power to last about 18 minutes on that method.  Zyban, Nicorette, etc. didnt do anything for me.  (I lie!  Zyban made me happy but did nothing for my smokes.)  Hypnosis didnt work.  Finally I decided to try laser accupuncture.  Voila!  It worked.  (Secretly I suspect that I actually WANTED to quit and that's what made the difference.)  In any case I've been smoke free for 5 minths with no cravings and with a weight loss.  The other part.....if someone wants to smoke in my presence it is just fine with me.  Doesnt make me want one at all.

All this self reno encouraged me to go get my worn out and well rotted teeth yanked and a whole new set of choppers complete with a little gold flash on one tooth.  Looks so much better!  I'm not gonna lie to you it hurt!  It hurt in the mouth and in the wallet but I'm thrilled with the end result and I've finally lost my 'new teeth lisp'.  I can even chew with them now.

All these little adjustments have made my blood pressure drop, my breathing is easier, I'm able to walk farther and faster and my sugar levels are staying in a normal range.  I'm damn proud of all this change but more importantly I feel absolutely terrific.

I am so pleased to hear you are taking care of yourself. I suspect you are a person that has always taken care of others and neglected yourself. There's a lot of us in that place. It's good to finally realize that we are important too and deserve a little time, attention, and yes, even money. I bet you do feel a million times better. I do believe you've done more remodeling on yourself then your house, and that's a LOT. You keep it up Botty. You deserve it. Lots of hugs, (and a small swoon) woman

bot....wow! that is some extreme makeover! Made my teeth hurt just thinking about it......so does the money saved from the smokes offset the weight watchers?

I'm sure you is just too handsome for words, dahling.  :D  Give us a flash of those gold-encrusted choppers!

    Seriously, I'm always impressed when someone puts themself first.  I haven't figured out how to do that.  I think it's great.  {{{{{hugs}}}}}

MUUN.......I'll kith yer kin fer ya when I'm next in Vancouver. I have to be careful out there It's close enough fer mom to chuck up cream puffs. Guud to see ya!
WOMAN....My swoon sister! Thanks for the kind words. You too are one of those caregivers, I think. It's a good thing to look after yourself because it helps being able to continue looking after others!
D6.....Now that you ask Weight Watchers costs about the value of 1 pack per week so its a bargain in those terms. The teeth hurting thing does eventually go away but if anybody ever tells you "This wont hurt a bit" DO NOT believe them!.....lol
MOM......I'll do a before and after pic once I get to goal. I promise.
    DEBILISHDAMSEL.....Thank you!
FG.....Thank you....I'm going with rainbow ribbons this year.
MISSMIMS.....I'm coming east to give you some lessons on self care! We'll do an extreme makey over! I'll bring my special crew of experts. First thing we're gonna do is carve up the cherry tree and sell pieces on ebay. We'll make a little fabrication about it being a historic tree with magical powers. I tell you we'll be able to afford one heck of a tater fling festival!
UNI......I'm flattered that you're a little inspired. How I look isnt nearly as important as how I feel but the new look is a nice change. Still getting used to the 'Who's that in my house?' reaction when I pass a mirror........hehehe

Botoni, I TOTALLY agree with you on Weight Watchers.  It's really an amazing program and despite the smack in the pocket book it's SO worth it.  I'm at about a 32 lb weight loss in the last 5 or 6 months right now and I feel wonderful because of it.  I never knew what I was missing.  I actually went to a meeting just this morning.  I too know how you feel when you entertain and the others who aren't on the program enjoy it while you don't feel guilty.  I'm happy that you've had such a success on your end.

Sounds like you've definitely been doing plenty of self improvement and all for the better.  It gives me an optimistic feeling really.  Thank you for sharing!

    New year, new you, huh?

I'm glad to read that you're re-vamping your life.  It almost seems like you're preparing yourself for something...

What're you gettin' ready fer?  A new beau perhaps?

So now that you're the new you, what's next?  Anything else lined up in terms of self-improvement?

Will we see you on the runways of a fashion show perhaps?

    I'm tuned in.

for my love....
There are many different types of deep rooted feelings, and it is easy enought to confuse one for the other, but letting that confusion last too long is a recipe for personal disaster......
