Today is the inauguration of President Obama. With it I have a sense of hope for America. I think that millions of Americans feel it too. It's evident with the staggering numbers of people heading to Washington D.C. to be a part of history.
Times have been hard economically in America. My personal view is that a lot of that was because we lost faith. I'm not talking spiritually, although that could be a part of it. We lost faith in our leaders. The Iraq war has been divisive. Our economy tanked. I think perception and media bias helped to flush it down the tubes. Somehow we became scurrying little lemmings all racing toward the edge of a cliff.
The bailouts drive me crazy. When the media tells me that bankruptcy is not an option for a failing auto industry, I get a little wary. Excuse me folks, the airlines went through it and people still have jobs and we still fly the friendly skies.
For me it is all about changing times. Nothing stays the same. We have to adapt. If something doesn't work, we have to make adjustments and move on. As a nation we've been throwing our collective hands in the air and panicking that we won't survive.
Nothing could be farther from the truth.
When President Obama says, "Yes we can!", I believe him. This nation has faced troubling times throughout history and we've always pulled through. Sometimes that takes a little sacrifice and elbow grease, but it happens. It will again.
Today this nation has every reason to be proud. I have hope for America. For once, something positive is blanketing the news, Perhaps now we will have a bit more unity, at least in spirit, to fix our problems.
I hope America rides this positive wave for all it's worth.
