I had a good weekend.
Saturday:
Went shopping with Melissa tried on some dresses ate some lunch had a fun time.
That evening Phil and I went back to Melissa's and played video games till wee hours in the morning.

Sunday Phil and i slept in.  Ive been trying to broaden his food pallet lately.  A few days ago i bought a package of Chorizo.
Its a spanish breakfast meat.  Its just seasoned spicy pork with red chili in it.  Good stuff.  Its great with eggs, u can eat it with a fork or my favorite is to make burritos out of it.

Phil really likes spicy food but had something against the spice "cummin".  He hates it.

I didnt think Chorizo had "cummin" in it so i thought hed like it and I decided to make him chorizo breakfast burritos sunday afternoon.

They were delicious, i inhaled two chorizo burritos and Phil said he didnt like it and that it had "cummin" in it.  But despite the fact that he announced they were gross he still ate 3 burritos.  hmm, must not have been that bad...that or i need to feed Phil more often

After we ate i wasnt feeling very good but decided to go with Phil into town to ipck up a few things.

A few things turned into driving around the country with a 6 pack.  He got the 6 pack and i got a water and a pina colado Fuze drink.  Luck little shit.

We past by Grove Lake, not too far from where we live and I saw people Ice fishing!

Omg, ive always wanted to go ice fishing and never have.  It was a beautiful day!  It was about 45 degrees and sunny with little wind.

I told Phil that ive never walked on a frozen lake and for him to pull in so i can "walk on water".

He couldnt believe id never "walked on water".  I had been ice skating, indoors before but thats pretty much all my ice experience.  I was really nervous.  im no light weight and was scared id fall through.  It was so nice the ice was melting on the top creating great big puddles.  Phil assured me that the top layer of ice melting was not a big deal because the ice itself was over 3 feet thick.

He took pictures of me walking on water and i just thought it was very very cool.

I got back to the burb and i lost my Chorizo.  I puked all over the edge of the lake.

Everyone was starring and phil was taking pictures while asking if i was ok.

Butthead.

So how many of you all have walked on water?

And how many of you all have eaten Chorizo?

And if youve never eating it do you atleast know what it is?

I think I've walked on water.  I was pretty little, but I'm pretty sure I remember it.  Specifically I remember falling and bruising my butt.

As for chorizo, I love it!!  It's awesome in omelettes and I love it on pizza as well.  I didn't think it had cummin in it either.  Is it possible Phil doesn't like some other spice that is in it and he's just using the wrong name for it?

Aww, thats too bad you fell, was the fall fun atleast?  Chorizo on pizza?  Wow, thats like purple ketchup!  Weirdo!  Ill have to try that sometime!

Ive suspected that before about the seasoning confusion.  He doesnt like anything prepackaged as "mexican".  He hates Taco and Enchilada seasoning but will devour and love both tacos and enchiladas if they are made from scratch with none of the prepackaged seasoning that has the horrible "cummin".  He loves my homemade menudo, but doesnt like tripe.  He has no doubt in his mind that the seasoning he hates is cummin, but im with you, im not so sure he knows what hes talking about...

The walking on water bit i have done a few times and it can get a little scary - but the chorizo ? dont even know what it is - dont have it in this country - ishare Phil'ssentiments on cummin though  - cant stand it

Ya know cuppa...I find my self at a loss for what country you are in...I thought u were a UnitedStatesian.  Well, Chorizo is just a spanish food.  Its pork cured in all kinds of yummy spices, ya usually cook it up like sausage or beef.  But its not never mind to you because ive heard it drenched in cummin!  Ya non-cummin eater.  WEIRDO!!!!  : P  its ok, i still luv ya

I love chorizo, but not really the pork one. I prefer the beef style... I also learned never ever read what it is made of if your like me and a picky eater... (ever since i read the ingrediants i can't eat it, but since i can't eat eggs anymore it's ok)

Perhaps baby Remy wasn't so happy about you walking on water and the burritos... although i have to admit to feeling lucky no one has taken pictures of me vomiting yet... i do it often enough but other than my new id i have no prego pics :)

Wishie, Phil demanded i look and read him the ingredients and it was too funny i swear to God all it said was"

    Ingredients:

    Pork

    Seasoning

lol.  I told phil and it made him even more nervous!  "do you know what pork could man?"  ...im not so picky.  I didnt care if it was made of pasteurized pork balls, it tasted good and it was inspected by inspector number 128...I trust inspecter 128 : )

    lol

    CHORIZO

    Ingredients:

Pork Trim or Pork Butts (70 - 78%)

    Head/Cheek/Pate Meat (Beef or Pork)

    Hog Jowls

    Water

    Salt

    Vinegar

    Paprika

    Cayenne Pepper

    Fresh Garlic Cloves

    Oregano

    Black Pepper (Coarse Ground)

:) i was really grossed out by the whole fact it uses head and jowls... but it's pretty good, especially if you go to a carniceria and get it fresh... then it's the best :)

  • starchini said on Jan 20, 2009....

wow, my ingredients were much more vague.

    what are jowls?

and, *drum roll* does this mean there is no cummin in chorizo?

Hi Star  - I was born in the UK,but I have lived in South Africa for the last 25 years...
  • Wish_Upon_A_Star said on Jan 21, 2009....
jowls are like the cheek/jaw area i believe. and yup no cumin. which makes sense since cumin is a spice from the middle east i believe and mexico is underneath me... (heh) in central/north america...

although maybe some chorizo companies are adding cumin... i dunno
  • starchini said on Jan 21, 2009....
