It’s that time of year when all of us decide to make those wonderful New Year’s Resolutions again.  Let’s see as I recall there are a number of them usually come back each year like I’m going to finally lose that weight, of course along with that one I’m going to exercise more or how about this one I’m going to cut back on my drinking or I’m not going run up my credit cards this year and get myself finally out of debt. 

These are just a few of the ones you hear each and every on New Years and of course there are others that are not listed here, but what I really want to talk to you about in this article is not making resolutions again this year but finally starting to take control of your life.    

Here it is January, 2009 and as you look at your life once again are you where you want to be in your life, if not let’s make this the year to do something about it.  Instead of making phony resolutions that you know you’re going to break within days, weeks or even months of making them how about first taking stock where you are right now.  I know this part is hard but you have to first start where you are right now before you can move forward in your life.  You have to honestly right down with paper and pen, not typing on a computer but with paper and pen where you in all areas of your life.  

Once you have completed this task then it is time to start writing down where you would like to be in your life say in one month, then two and so on for the rest of the year. By taking these small steps and completing those goals you will become stronger and feel good about yourself.

Remember as you look at your goals for each month you can even break it down to day by day for each month and if need be you can break the day itself down.   Like this is what I would like accomplish this morning, this afternoon and so on.  It is always easier to do something at first on a short term basis than on a larger scale.

Also remember if you don’t make it you can always start again.  A saying that I have is if man or women were made to be perfect then why do we have erasers on pencils.  The biggest thing you have to remember is to keep on keeping on and not give up what you are striving for. 

If for example your goal this year is to make more money by starting a home based business then do your homework on what type of business you want to get into and once you start give it everything you have and most important of all don’t quit even when times get tough.  Remember as it says in Psalm 23 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley,” which means to me we don’t stay in the valley or our tough times we get through them as long as we don’t quit. 

If you really want to make those changes in your life this year now is the time to make them.  Remember as Albert Einstein once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”  Don’t make the same mistakes you’ve made each year by making resolutions instead this year make a plan of for your life and Go For It.
