Steve would go knocking on these innocent people's doors at night claiming "Oh hi, you know me, I am Steve Mapes, son of your multi millionare neighbor." "Sorry to bother you but my wife is terribly sick and we need to get her some medicine". Steve would then claim "My rich father is out of town, could you loan me $300 till my dad gets back to pay you back". Many people were scammed by Steve in this manner. Steve never had a sick wife as he was nver married. Steve has never had a girlfriend in the decades Lincoln residents have known him. As usual Steve's wealthy father would be approached by the neighbors asking how his son's wife was doing. "Wife?, What Wife?". Steve Mapes's dad would then have to pay the neighbor the money Steve scammed out of them. many people never received their money back. Steve is well known for praying on the elderly. Steve played on people's compassion to help another human being and used the money for drugs. Was Steve sorry for doing this? No. For decades Steve has been pulling simular scams.
