It is now official.  I honestly believe that certain members of the media have slipped into Bush derangement la la land.  The Bennington Banner lead editorial this past Tuesday alludes to President Elect Obama's stimulus plan and in reading it I have to ask myself, are these people for real?

The first sentences:  "Lose the tax cut notion, Mr. Obama.  That makes about as much sense as a shopping spree when your credit card is maxed out,..."

The reasons the author believes in no tax cuts have to do with debt and a risk sinking us further into a recession.

So lets see, the government is planning on taking billions of dollars of money that is not theirs and pumping into the economy on meager tax cuts and socialist pet projects and these people seem to think the tax cuts are the problem?  Didn't President Bush with a Democratic congress pass a stimulus package recently and what did it amount to?

Every time we cut taxes we get growth, every time we just hand money to people who don't deserve it we get stagnation.  President Bush inherited a recession, he cut taxes and our economy skyrocketed.  Now the one major thing we should do that President Elect Obama partially agrees with, is cut taxes and suddenly that is a bad thing?

Here is the best part:  "....extend unemployment benefits indefinitely until the recession is history, and make them available as well to those who lost their jobs and ultimately dropped out of the workforce."

This is the solution to solving the recession?  A recession is an economic downturn.  The economy flourishes when less people are on unemployment and more people are working.  So instead of giving people an incentive to get out and find a way to make money they want to keep people on unemployment longer?  Am I actually here reading this?

Then of course on top of extending unemployment benefits the article suggests we had health coverage to the unemployment benefits.  Have these people become so indoctrinated with stupid socialism they have now become delusional?  How exactly is either (while noble in motive) going to grow the economy?  Why should people, especially lazy people work anymore if the government is going to foot the bill for things everyone else has to earn?

     Then the last paragraph says:

"But skip the idiotic tax cut.  We've had enough of those.  Look where they got us."

So we've had enough of paying less taxes?!!!  And the little hint that somehow tax cuts caused or added to the present financial crisis.  In reality if it weren't for the tax cuts that grew the economy to unprecedented levels there would have been zero cushion and things would be a lot worse.  Now instead of just Republicans being the cause of the financial crisis, which is a complete falsehood and everyone knows it, now Republican tax cuts are?  Are you people really serious?

You know I can't see where Republicans end and Democrats start anymore......everyone seems the same right now.....the bailout was a huge mistake....and Bush and the last Congress started that....now Obama wants to continue that, but give tax cuts and a stimulous check and build new infrastructure.

I am all for the infrastructure rebuild.....I just wish that it could have started 8 to 12 years ago when the economy could have easily absorbed the cost.

People should realize just how much money is in this economy....it is staggering....but unfortunately, the buzzards are no longer circling....they have landed and have proceeded to pick the flesh from Uncle Sam.

Gold should be skyrocketing though don't you think?

Or could it be that the U.S. dollar has beome so insignificant, that it no longer effects gold prices?

Or is our economy doing much better than we think?

Or have been told.......one thing is for sure....we have been lied to at every turn by almost everyone who is in charge of anything....where do we turn?

2008 was the year the Republican party and journalism died.  The Republican party needs to go back to the basics.

I am yet to criticize our soon to be President because he technically is not in office.  I think his policies will be a test of liberalism and if we are right we will still be in this financial crisis in a year and maybe two years.  I hope we are wrong.

If this is what America wanted, they got it.  I am inspired by the historical significance we are in but at the same time this talk of "fighting climate change" or "halting the planets warming" just scares me.

Even Chris Mathews at MSNBC is starting to question Obama.
