There is something to be said about the CVS card. It actually is a fantastic way to save money. At first I thought it was just another annoyance to add to my keyring, but over time I have found that those little coupons and Extra Bucks that print at the end of your transaction really add up.
Take my latest shopping trip for example (this past Sunday)...I was in dire need of a few items from the store. I noticed in my (email) inbox that I had a $5 off coupon from a $30 purchase at CVS. I also happened to save a receipt that was for $4 in Extra Bucks from the last time I picked up a prescription. I also had printed out some $2 off any Aveno products coupons that day...
Hmmm...I think you see where this is heading...
I knew in the back of my head that I needed foundation and Q-tips. And face cream (what I credit for making my patient's think I am 18 when I am really 28....God bless good face cream!)
So anyway, Duane and I scoured the entire store for deals....and deals did I find. I found Maybelline to have a lot of items at 50% off. So I snatched up a foundation and blush (because, as a very, very pale midwestern girl, blush is a MUST). Of course I got my Q-Tips. And I found my beloved Aveeno facecream...not on sale ($20...yikes), but nonetheless, a necessary product. Also, as we were looking around, I found a cute little Christmas thing that I will not go into details over as it will be adorning a gift next year, but to get to the point, it was marked down 90% to $0.19. I also grabbed a bag of some fantastic looking bows marked down the same (to $0.19...and lets face it, you can never have too many bows).
So, all in all, it was a spectacular run that would have made the grocery game envious (oh have they taught me well!)
With coupons and all, I ended up getting 6 items (Maybelline foundation, Maybelline blush, Christmas ornament, bows, Aveeno face cream, 625 Q-Tips); spent $17.52 and saved $23.34. The way I see it: I got all of that for less than the cost of the facecream! Not bad for an unplanned trip for some much needed items.
So long story short, the next time you are contemplating how to save a little more money, take a look at your CVS Extra Bucks card. May not seem like it, but that little thing can really add up and save you some money! : )
