Satan’s Temptation of Eve
So you think that the word of the spirit you heard is so real?
Are you sure it is right? Does it fill you with fright? What do you feel?
He said, to your dread that if you eat you’ll be dead! (That is what you heard. That is what he said!)
But the fruit of the tree is so juicy, you see, and you really aught to listen to me.
For I’ve taken that fruit! I’m alive! Do you see me as dead when you saw me arrive?
And the lie of that person you think is your god is as broad as his cheeks and as thick as his rod.
The thoughts of his statement you have to ignore for the person who spoke it is reeking of gore.
No, my love, no, Eve, you have nothing to fear. But the secret of fruits you must solemnly hear.
For I’ve been alive for billions of ages! My wisdom and counsel has excellent wages!
And you’ll collect greater wealth in the future with me! Why, you’ll own the skies, yea, the Earth and the sea!
You will find out that his wages is dying! But follow my black ways to see that he’s lying!
You’ve bit his foul fruit of the knowledge of good. And, don’t get me wrong, you might argue you should!
But it is evil’s sweet fruit that is the stake! For the sides number two! It’s my side you must take!
With him you must yield! You must humble and grovel! With me you will find life and things new! Yes, things novel!
You will know theft if you listen to me! Just take of that fruit! There’s no cost! It is free!
So Eve saw the fruit, that it was juicy and clean and she said to the snake, “Yes, I see what you mean!”
Said the snake, “Knowing evil will make you so wise while you’ll see so much more good through your sin-laden eyes
When you decide for yourself what is good! You’ll be the judge when you do what you would!
Then you will know that you’ll both be like gods! Adam and you will determine your odds.
And your fate will be in your own hands! It’s true! Now there is only one last thing you must do!
So Eve took the apple and we all agree that we’ve followed that course, both you and, yes, me.
We get to decide what only God should. What is the meaning of “evil” and “good.”
We must renounce that decision to know that the way of God’s truth is the way we should go.
For the end of this choice is eternal life. It’s not too late! We can end all our strife.
And know that the murders, the thieving will end. Against sins of the past, Jesus Christ will defend.
Before him all of our knees will then bend.
