Yesterday was our 4H rabies clinic. It is apart of our public service. We have a small club, only 6 kids at this time as that is how the population is around here. So a lot of recruited help is needed to pull one of these off. We have a vet who does it for us every year, only charging the club a percentage and the public only pays the actual cost of the vaccines of their choice. It is a good bargain for the public and we be sure to have it done before licensing of the animals needs to be in.
Yesterday we serviced 189 animals in 1 1/2 hours. It was amazing! I volunteered to write slips along with two others. It was a real madhouse for awhile, as it always is. We also have a bake sale and sold out. All in all it was our best turn out yet.
So I came home and redid the morning chores but of course for the evening. It was a pleasant day out, one we need to enjoy because on Tues. the weather forecast is to take a turn for the worst with a high of -7 F. Night they are saying -30 F or more! OMG, I am SO SICK OF THIS WEATHER. As others are saying, global warming our tuckus!
Jan. 24 I have my one yearly model horse show. Now, to explain this one, I collect plastic horse figurines/models. We host shows. At the show it is like a real horse show except all the horses are on a table. So say you are having a jumping class, you have to take your horse, put it in all the proper tack (saddle, bridle etc.), have an appropriate jump and set up a sort of diarama of a scene. Then all are judged against each other and placed.
It is a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. This one originally started as a show for 4H kids but then we opened it to open and other showers. There are various types of shows. This one is more relaxed and fun. Then there are what we call NAN (North American Nationals) shows where the competition is SERIOUS! There is a championship held in the USA every year for those who qualify.
Anyway, back to this show. The theme is Wild Wild West. Of course I don't follow themes. I am getting too lazy to actually really get into the shows anymore. I've been doing this for 31 years and feel more the need to assist newcomers and stir up a little trouble. This year I decided to do a set up of Sarah Palin.
Picture this...
A moose (named Moosalini) is in a harness pulling a green sleigh. A big old bobblehead Sarah Palin on the back like a dog musher with her fur collar/hat ???? and a big whip, sleigh full of polar bear hides, babies, guns, a Bible and maybe a dead wolf or two if I can find something. I'll put a Palin for President bumper sticker on the sleigh or moose or ????. I just came up with the idea last night, bought a bobblehead, dug out my moose figure and sleigh and now am cooking it up.
