To continue...

  • I think celebrating a loved one's birthday ought to be mandatory.
  • I grew up in an alcoholic family and for many years had a messed up view of how life works.  Still do but I am aware of it now and can change.
  • I have never smoked, detest it yet there was a period in my life I would find myself thinking "God I could use a cigarette".  Made me question the idea of reincarnation.
  • I got my first credit card last September when I was in such turmoil I was going to leave my husband.  I found out I have very little credit of my own so got a card.  I only use it when I eat out.  Husband doesn't know I have it.
  • I love to snailmail penpal.  I have 4 penpals now.  I used to have many more but they all quit writing when the internet came along.
  • I am a stationery junkie.  I'll never use all that I have with only 4 penpals.
  • I listen to Wisconsin Public Radio whenever in my car.  I can't get it in my house.
  • I get 6 magazines...Wisconsin Horseman's News, Martha Stewart Living, Money, Progressive Farmer, Figure and Cottage Living.  I just got notice that CL went out of business and they are substituting it with Southern Living.  I will be canceling and instead get Newsweek.  For years I refused to get magazines due to my high and mighty principals.   Now that the boys are grown I have time to read them.
  • I am an IKEA junkie yet never been to one.
  • I'd rather clean a barn than a house.

The only magazine that comes to this house is my Smithsonian. But my wife gets about forty pounds of catalogs a week. Our mailman has commented on this.

As a mail carrier I totally understand where your's is coming from.  It is always the same people who get all the catalogs, magazines and newspapers.  Sometimes when I roll it to put it into the box it barely fits!

I have a tendency to get a magazine for a year and then drop it.  I never used to have time for them and so I am thoroughly enjoying them now.  The MSL, CL, I tear out things l like for my "in my dreams" book.  The rest I take to work and we swap magazines.  I get Grit that way ;).

I have always gotten the horseman's news because I write farm news for it.  The rest are just within the past year and when they expire but the WHN, they are gone...well, but Newsweek.  I subbed for 2 years there.  Southern Living...forget it.  I live in zone 3, won't do me a whole lot of good but to tick me off with "weird" food and stuff I can't grow.

Husband gets no magazines, just a weekly farm paper.

    • I love birthdays, most of all arranging a celebration for a love one or a friend.  My secret wish if to be surprised by a friend with my own birthday party (it is not a secret now!)
    • I am still dealing with the stress I endured due to the eccentricity and the neuroses of my dad´s family... I think, I am even ready to deal with it consciously.
    • When my dad died 9 years ago (in 3 days it will be 10), I somehow lost the belief in reincarnation. I have not really dwelled on how, and why I stopped believing, it just simply was gone.  I tried smoking but I preferred talking while  socializing than breathing in smoke.
    • I cut all my credit cards many times to spite my soon to be ex-husband.  It irritated the hell out of me that he could not grasp the concept: people & relationships should take priority, than money & security... when you are in a happy relationship, a strong sense of security of self will spread out through all the aspects of your life.
    • I use to do my dad´s correspondance, when I was a little girl  of 8-9 years old. He was a tourist guide for a hotel, and brought home some guests to whom he established a good rapport.  My letters were sent all over the globe.  I had very fond memories of that time.  It was one of those rare moments, I felt my dad sense of pride towards me.
    • When my life has found it´s stability. I would love to go back to the things I love.  And yes, collecting stationaries, and writing snailmails are some of my passion.
    • I am OCD with radio stations. I choose, tune into one, and never change the dial.  It has been like that in my home country, in my second home country, I wonder if it would be in my third home country.  My boyfriend use to work on radio as he was in his 20´s.
    • I love magazines while I was growing up.  One reason I took Mass Communication was the dream to work for one.
    • My first memory of IKEA was me joyfully looking through the catalogue just dreaming of what I could put in our new home, and my soon to be ex-husband commenting, they are not worth our money :(
    • I would like to have an experience of cleaning a barn!
I love your postings, dear Christine!
