The page you were looking for no longer exists

it's been two days since my last blog -"The Broken Wings." I've actually been wanting to sit down and write the second part of the article, but (ruefully) a sudden surge of office work has tied me up these past days. I'm about to leave for an out-of-town meeting with some clients and I hurriedly logged in to do two things: (1) to reply to all those who commented on my "Broken Wings" blog: THANK YOU GUYS (sorry for the belated reply), and, (2) as an afterthought, to ask you one thing that crossed my mind while I was on my way home last night.

tell me what you think -- if SoulCast will organize a bloggers' summit or a members' convention, would you support it? would you attend the gathering? would you be interested to meet your fellow members in flesh? or would it destroy the beauty and mystery of anonymity?

    wow.

i honestly don't know. part of that is b/c i'm not entirely certain how comfortable i'd be w/ that, and part of that is b/c i'm not entirely certain just how comfortable others might be with that.

    Great idea.

I will attend so I can personally meet and shake hands with the great bloggers here. It wud also giv me the opportunity to personally apologize to people I was once rude to, like Silverwhisper and many others.

It would truly be exciting to see the faces behind the great (and not-so-great) blogs here.
  • Mamie said on Aug 24, 2006....
hey Quid, here's an idea...have you read Faithfuldisciples recent blog on Bloggywood?? Maybe we could morph your two ideas together and come up with this idea:
the scene is the SC awards convention...celebrities arrive in their limos...bling all around: which actor/actress would show up as, say, you? I for one would likely go, b/c I would love to shake a few hands...but for now and for the sake of privacy...can I just say that I would like to have Kelly Clarkson play me (Mamie) even though I am about 20 yrs older than she is!!
    SilverWhisper: who'd be you?
Q: who gets to be you?

I think I would rather continue to see you all with my
open heart instead of my judgemental eyes. Go to my
blog and look for my picture to see why I would not want
you seeing me in person. ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Aug 24, 2006....
    LOL

ALIENated gets all proby in person.

Besides, I have this horrible habit of crashing through walls screaming "Oh Yeaah!".

It wouldn't be good in a social situation.

    I would!! Hehhee....but I won't. It's too far...
  • RodSerling said on Aug 25, 2006....
If I appear, you will all be frightened beyond measure, and understandably so.

Considering the ramifications, I will restrict myself to slight poltergeist activity just so you'll know that I came.

    Submitted for your removal...
  • RodSerling said on Aug 25, 2006....
Besides, in today's atmosphere I'm sure that smoking will be restricted.
  • anarchist said on Aug 25, 2006....
I'd probably go, but I'd make sure that the summit would have rules, like, no wearing of nametags nor telling people who you are.. I mean, it should be scheduled or scripted. Like the setting would be like that of the Congress, where everyone sits at a huge oval table. When everyone's in the room, they take out their name-plates, put it infront of them and let the party begin. ;p

It would be difficult to round people up though. That's what I think.
  • FaithfulDisciple said on Aug 25, 2006....
A good excuse would be to attend the 1st Annual Soulcast Blogwood awards complete with all the works, red carpet and gourmet dining celebration party afterwards.

But if it's just a gettting to know you convention and it's going to be held in a place that's quite far, why bother? Anyway, the plane fare and the hotel bills just to go there might be prohibitive.
  • monozuki said on Aug 25, 2006....
I want to meet everyone..but it means that my identity will surely revealed..maybe not..

I want to be just that way I am now..unknown hahaha
  • Heartwalker said on Aug 25, 2006....
    Nope,
I would not attend, because My anonymity would be lost, and I think that IT is better that we are what we are,... just anonymous persons acting out our fantasies...

those fantasies that we can't express in real life, so We assume identities and enact them out here...

I figured this out long back,..... when I joined here, that this is sort of a place, where any one can do what they want, cause no one will ever know in real... and hence you find stuff which people will never say in public ( both the good and the bad )
I also know that this may be acceptaed, but these are my convictions, based on congruence, not convenience or approval.

I am not sure I will attend either. One of the main feature that many members here find attractive is the we are all assured total anynomity. So most SoulCasters including yours truly would like it to remain that way.

  • GMNIMan said on Aug 25, 2006....
That's "anonymity" arrggghhh, where's the edit button when you need one!
  • Alyss said on Aug 25, 2006....
GMNIman there is an edit feature now....

    I'm going to echo SW.

He and a couple of others already know who I am and vice-versa but being outed to everyone? That's something totally different.
  • jalav said on Aug 25, 2006....
Yeah, maybe meet somewhere in Europe or Africa. Hehehe.
  • Dazlak said on Aug 25, 2006....
I would not show up. I like the faceless feature and it would probably be held in the USA so that would cost a hand and foot.

I just live to far away.
  • celestialspace2001 said on Aug 25, 2006....
you do NOT want to be in the same room when TheNakedProfessor and WeirdWorld meet eye-to-eye...

Hell yeah, am up for some of that, but would have to be in London, UK. ;)
  • GMNIMan said on Aug 25, 2006....
Yes Alyss, I just found the 60 seconds edit feature. I think its real cool! So who syas that SoulCast doesn't listen to suggestions. I have been ranting about the absence of this feature for like forever now.

SoulCast BlogWood Awards? hmmmmm, that is interesting FD. can you tell us what would be the various awards to be given?
  • FaithfulDisciple said on Aug 25, 2006....
Labyrinth: Because you asked for it, now here it is 2007 Annual Soulcast Blogwood Nominations. Thanks for suggesting the topic. :D
  • sigroid75 said on Aug 25, 2006....
    never!!! hahahahaha

i will never attend one because i wouldn't want
to be known!!! haha soulcast is my private hole,
    where i can bare my thoughts...things i couldn't
share to others...if i will show myself, then soulcast
would not be the same to me...:-)
  • realmenluvporn said on Aug 25, 2006....
I would try to go, but I don't know that I'd reveal myself when I got there.

I agree with the folks who say part of SoulCast's allure is its anonymity.

Besides, didn't we just have a little scare with HBC and stalkers? With the kind of controversy *AHEM* some of us get into, it might not be real safe to put some of us together IRL in a room in a public place. :-)

Intriguing notion, though, to be sure!

  • Zayda said on Aug 25, 2006....
I don't think I would go. I prefer the anonmity as well, but then I can't say that there aren't a few people I would like to meet.
  • SeanRenaud said on Aug 25, 2006....
If it was convienent for me I would attend. I've only just joined though so I would be unlikely to travel any great distance to go to one.

My anonymity means nothing to me. I say the same thing in real life as I do in my blogs. I'm a strong believer that more us need to honest and open rather than concealing our real opinions about things.
  • silverwhisper said on Aug 25, 2006....

I think I would go...I would like to see how close my mind's picture of you all compares to the real you. Also there are quite a few hugs I would like to give. But after reading this week....I think I would be the grandmom of the group....

I'm kinda new here and not very familiar with a lot of you yet, so I'm not sure I would go. There are a few people here that I know (albeit annonymously) from other sites that I'd like to meet if I were ever in their locale or they in mine.
  • Elevator said on Aug 25, 2006....
Well, its a nice ideal to be sociable, but this site has been provided to those who want to open their hearts frankly and unrestrained. If we all met, Soulcast as a buffer to the real world would cease to be effective.
  • quidnunc said on Aug 25, 2006....
hi all, i'm sorry i could not join the discussion earlier. got tied up with work.

so i guess we have a divided house -- some agreeing to attend, while others preferring to maintain their anonymity.

to me, meeting fellow soulcasters is a rather exciting prospect. however, i do not know what it's long-term effect would be to our community. once we reveal our true identities and in fact show / introduce ourselves to all the others, i do not know if we would still be blogging the way we are doing now. after the sc summit, would we be more inhibited to bare our souls, or would it have the opposite effect?

thank you all for responding to my thoughts and sharing what you feel about the matter. if SC is planning to hold such a conference or gathering (or awards night -FD's idea), it could very well get some inputs and insights from your comments here.

    again, maraming salamat (thank you!).
  • Danj3ris said on Aug 25, 2006....
I'd go, because I know if I didn't, a great deal of you would be Earth-Shatteringly dissapointed.

    Or something.
  • CreativeWoman said on Aug 25, 2006....
I don't think I would go. I feel so free to express myself behind the mask of annonymity. My blog wouldn't be the same if I lost that. I would crawl back inside my good girl shell and stay there.

  • hotaka said on Aug 25, 2006....
It would be interesting. Kind of like a high school reunion. Of course, SoulCast would take on a different perspective for those of us who went. Suddenly we would feel more personally connected of we could imagine the faces of our fellow bloggers. But I think few would be able to go because we are cast around the globe. Taking time off work to travel to California might not be possible for most of us. Neat idea though.

I haven't read your Broken Wings story. I have been off SC mostly lately. I'll subscribe to you and read it a bit later. I am about to start another working day here. Cheers!
  • Jenna said on Aug 25, 2006....
What would be the difference??? We would meet, connect with people with whom we have made a connection... and then we would go home.... and continue on...Why would that be so hard? I guess if I found my neighbor or best friend there that would make a difference, but since we don't know each other... wouldn't that bring us closer? It is just a face... someone to say hi to. I for one would love the opportunity to meet face to face such incredible people. We would still be anonymous, but you could put a face to the blog. Is that a bad thing?
  • hers said on Aug 25, 2006....
that's a great idea. am on it.
  • FaithfulDisciple said on Aug 25, 2006....
How about a masquerade ball where everyone comes with a mask and costume the entire evening? That would preserve the anonymity, then you can only choose to take it off to those we wish to reveal ourselves to.
  • silverwhisper said on Aug 25, 2006....
maybe it's the nature of my blog entries today, but is it bad that my immediate thought upon reading that comment, FD, was of an erotic story?
