Firstly,Happy New Year to all here on SC - i know that has been said a thousand times by probably a couple of hundred people on here by now,but heh, whose counting?
So last night brought so much excitement in the air and everyone was happy and full of life as they always are
I went down to my in laws,as i had been put in charge of yet another bbq.The weather seemed to be ok - but there was talk of rain later in the evening. So  i decided to put my Jamie Oliver shoes on a little early and start the fire a little early at about 7pm,as it was still light then. The sun only goes down here now at about 7 30ish.
But needless to say the night went downhill from there - very fast.
You would think that if someone asks you over ( as a relative ) to handle bbq duties and you are told that all you need to bring are yourself and your bbq stand - that this is all you need to bring.
Then you realise when you get there that they have barely enough coal to light a match to,and no fire lighters at all.But i made a small plan, and decided to engineer a fire that would not need topping up half way through. That kind of worked until i had both my dogs round my feet.Max was ok,as he isnt scared of anything.Sky on the other hand, has this thing about fire -he just doesnt like it.In spite of my asking for the animal to be kept away from me and the fire - my request fell on deaf ears - until Sky knocked the lit bbq stand over and all the coal fell on my legs and feet.Luckily i was wearing longs,so there was no real harm done - well ,almost.Sky got away fine - but sulked in the corner for the rest of the night.
But then my know it all engineer in training nephew comes out side and decides to start shouting at me for what happened, and telling me that i dont know what i am doing.Need i say at this point, that i am 38,I have done this hundreds of times before....and he is only 22.He has always been a Mr Know it all ( but can do nothing ) all his life.So holding my tongue very tightly in one hand,i resurrected the fire with the other.
I got the fire restarted - i cooked the meat that was bought - ate a little - collected all my things that i brought with me,and left.
It was only about 11ish at this point, and the clouds were closing in.It had started to rain. Not put off by this.I decided that I would cool my brains down a bit,by going to the beach.A good idea at first - but then I realised that there were already about 10 000 other people with the same idea.So i headed on home.It was about 11 30 by now - but I knew i would make it.The rain was coming down pretty heavy by now too.
I went up to my neighbours at the end of the road when I got back -and spent the new year with them. They were glad of the company as a matter of fact,so it was quite nice.

There are so many things that i would like to achieve within this year -so many goals that i have set for myself and so many places i want to go.
But i sometimes cannot get myself motivated enough to follow things through.I'll start something and then just stop.No reason given.None asked.
I hope i can change that this year - i really hope i can

    Happy New Year, CJ!

I like how your thought flowed in this blog...

...it seems to me you released what weighed over you (ah, the youthful brashness of twentysomethings ... i know more than a couple ;) ... if i would be honest maybe i was one too 15 or so years ago...)  I am glad you were able to hold your temper, sometimes it is just not worth it, and the energy is much better used for other productive things... this is what i keep telling myself in such situations i have often encountered such as yours...

...and at the end after releasing the negative...like you breathed out, positive feelings flowed in... your longing for fulfillment...

I am sending you good thoughts, and wishes that you achieve what you set out to do.

    Happy New Year CJ!

I do wish your evening had gone a little better but I'm glad you got to see the new year in with people that appreciated you and your company.

I just wish I had been there too.

Happy New Year CJ, while I'm sorry your new year's eve started out a little crappily, I'm glad that you ended it well.  I hope it's a wonderful new year for you and that you are successful in your ability to keep up the motivation for things you'd like to do.

aaah....the misery of semi-complete projects or even never started good ideas haunt me. I've become better with years by mastering sheer self will....when I get ready to stop I sternly tell myself not this time! So I do it to the end, and its very painful. But I'm more relaxed because it'd be one less task haunting me.

Hope 2009 is your finishing whatever you start year. Have a happy one.
