I read a quotation today, and I'm trying to find out who it's from- I'll post the name in the comments section when I find out. Here it is:
"Our self-image and our habits go together. Change one and you change the other."
This sounds like it should be true. If we perceive ourselves as being one way or another, it makes sense that we would behave in that way. Am I a shy, procrastinating weenie because I see myself as one? If I am, that means I should be able to change that about myself, right?
Now, the question is: How do I change my self-image? How do I start to see myself as the outgoing, friendly, successful, getting-out-there-and-promoting-my-business person I want to be? I know there's got to be a better word for that last one...
How would you do it? Has anyone tried this before to overcome some personality flaw or bad habit? Do I write out statements like "I am outgoing!" and read them over and over? Do I have to talk to my reflection in the mirror? Do I change my name to DoesItNow SuccessChick? Please let me know, and tell me how it has worked out for you!
