  Here's what I thought they were:
  
  1. A huge ant hill
  2. Cold magma
  3. Icy, snowy, rocky plain
  4. That's Queen Anne's Lace ... we've got that all over the place here, so I recognize that one!
  5. The way that is, it's wood ... and it looks like it would be because of the grass (?) in the upper right corner.
  Now ... on to see if I was right, or at least how horribly wrong I was, and maybe my reactions, but I'm not gonna post the "answers" here cuz I don't want it to be my fault others can cheat easier! ... lol.

  Hege - you got some right, a few wrong.  I will say that two of the pictures are of the same thing.  I just edited one of the pictures to give it a cool effect.

  unique- I think the first one is a rock. Two and five look like mud. Three is a rocky shoreline. And lastly, four is a plant. The location is California.

  2 and 5 are driftwood?.. 3 is the waves and a rocky shoreline.  I should know that hump.. I think its just a small sand dune? That was fun.  wish I was by the ocean!

  Lu - I was very happy with how it came out considering what it looked like as I was walking buy.  I was lucky enough to be able to capture some light and find a good angle.  Not bad for a point and shoot camera, huh?

  its pretty good, just imagine what you could do with a good camera.  Hubby said that of the photo you used on the xmas card you sent, he said it was a fabulous photo.. when I told him it was yours his eyes lit up! (he likes creatives)

  yes, I often have fantasies of owning a DSLR.  Once in awhile I go to the store and gently stroke the macro lenses and let my mind go wild ........ er ......... I mean, you're right!  A good camera would be great! LOL

  dd - they should all be scared! LOL  I'd love the quick lens reflex (no delay) and would likely get something that is fully automatic but has the option to go manual.  I've priced them out and it's either buy a camera, fly to Australia or buy a really decent  laptop.  Choices, choices, choices .......

  Okay!  Here's the big reveal.
   
  1. rock covered with very small orange moss
  2. driftwood log, I applied a sepia tone finish to the photo
  3. surf on the rocks with a ton of foam
  4. a dried Queen Anne's lace flower
  5. same driftwood log, different angle in full color
